Developers New Star Games announced that Retro Bowl, the latest game from the BAFTA award-winning studio, takes the ball and runs onto iOS and Android devices today.

Retro Bowl is a departure for the sports game developer, best known for the massively successful New Star Soccer brand which has been downloaded over 30 million times, as they tackle a North American cornerstone for the first time. Retro Bowl is the perfect game for the armchair quarterback to finally prove a point. Presented in a glorious retro style, the game has simple roster management, including press duties and the handling of fragile egos, while on the field you get to call the shots. Can you pass the grade and take your team all the way to the ultimate prize? Can you win the Retro Bowl?

Simon Read, creator and owner of New Star Games, really doesn’t want to drop the ball on this one. “I’ve always wanted to create an American Football game and Retro Bowl is that dream realised. Revisiting the glorious Tecmo games of the 80s and 90s was all the inspiration I needed and I am so pleased with how Retro Bowl has come together, just in time for Super Bowl LIV.”

Retro Bowl has a try before you buy approach; download and play 5 games for FREE and then choose to unlock the game forever for just $0.99, £0.99 or €1,09.

Developers New Star Games announced today that New Star Manager, the latest instalment of the BAFTA award-winning New Star series, kicks off today on the PlayStation 4 priced at £13.99 / €16.99.

New Star Manager is a pure soccer management simulation, allowing fans to be much more than just a player. Responsible for the day-to-day running of the underperforming New Star FC, fans must take full ownership of every aspect of the club, from constructing vital club facilities, managing players’ training regimes and sponsorship deals, to hiring and firing the backroom staff. Managers are also responsible for keeping players’ heads in the game by monitoring their concerns, outbursts, and quirks. Not to mention the constant battle of managing club finances, keeping the board and the fans on side and navigating the hostile waters of the sporting press.

Developers New Star Games announced that Buoyant, the latest game from the BAFTA award-winning studio, breezes onto iOS and Android devices today.

Buoyant is a departure for the sports game developer best known for the massively successful New Star Soccer brand which been downloaded over 30 million times. Buoyant is a deceptively simple, one touch, high score chasing, endless game.

Dig a bit deeper and you have a fiendishly addictive, punishing challenge that will push player skills to their limits. Add a chilled out soundtrack, leaderboards, achievements and that “one more go” magic and you have a game that floats like a butterfly, but stings like a bee, or more specifically, stings like a lot of nasty spiky obstacles floating in the water.

Simon Read, creator and owner of New Star Games gave some insight into the idea behind the game, which came off the back of a game jam session. “I wanted to make a 2D version of Wave Race 64, so I started playing around with wave physics. I soon had a little pixel-art guy on a jet ski surfing along but found when I switched to a more abstract style that the game was more appealing. It was great fun to create and I’ve enjoyed working on a shorter project, and now I’m looking forward to getting it out there and seeing what the response is like.”

Buoyant is also a departure from what is seen as normal in “free to play” games on mobile. This is because Buoyant has no adverts at all and only 1 optional purchase. Players can enjoy a number of plays every day for free, but they can unlock unlimited plays for just £1.99 and that’s it.
