It’s 2002, and Max Edwards has landed at the brilliantly named Rainbow Stars of the South African First Division, signing for £1300 p/w. My debut, and I scored a great hattrick, which was the start of things to come, as I score 7 in my first 10 games.
From the off I get a sponsorship, which is somewhat confusing – Apta sponsoring me 190k per year for my boots.
On game 15, I got injured, and missed 5 matches – Rainbow Stars win 2, draw 2 and lose 1. Following that injury, I twice buy drugs to improve my fitness. Shame on me! It doesn’t really pay off though, as I only score 5 times in the 13 games following y injury. The boss puts me on the transfer list. I get an offer from Maia in the Portuguese 2nd division, and accept £1000 p/w for 3 years.
It takes three games for my first goal, the only one in a 1-0 victory over Leca. We only manage a draw on the last game of the season, preventing promotion.
Oddly, it seems that I’m 26? Hey hum, I’ll claim I’m 18. It’s all the same to this game
