Default Really slow match engine on Vista

Righty, playing this game on Vista seems to be impossible so far because Vista is a resource hog. My specs are:

    Intel Pentium Dual Core T3200 @ 2.00 GHz (=3.63GHz)
    3GB RAM
    ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 32-bit

All drivers up to date and running the game in full screen 1024*768 with Aero theme disabled, iTunes closed, WLM closed, several processes and anti-virus closed, and the Engine has max priority on the task manager.

    What should I do?

    Hi there!
Have you experienced any problem before while playing NSS3 on Vista or is this your first attempt?

It has happened for quite a while now in Vista, ever since I've moved NSS3 to this laptop. (when I had absolutely no software/docs/music/pics in this PC) My antivirus is Panda Global Protection 2009 btw. Ran fine on my XP computer (Desktop 1)

Yep, running with XP SP2 compatibility mode. Doesn't get better without the compatibility modes. UAC disabled too and advanced text services disabled. By the way the engine gets much slower when some text like substituition text shows up on the engine.

Hi there pea, welcome to the forum! Can I suggest you simply downgrade to XP? Saying that, I'm about to try NSS4 on Vista for 1st time so this could be interesting..

NSS4 should run fine, if not disable the Aero theme. I can't downgrade because I haven't got a standalone version of XP and this PC is under warranty and it has wireless software I need for other connections... which I can't extract. And downgrading would imply formatting this PC and I haven't the time to do that because it's over 60 GB of docs/music/pics/game data to back up.

Forget that, I've decided to use my Desktop 2 on a daily basis now so I'm playing NSS3 here

I have the same problem. The game engine runs unbelievably slow on Vista OS. Two of my friends use vista as well, one plays well and the other has the same problem described on this topic.
Its a shame since I rather prefer Nss3 over 4 but running like this made my trial suck, so here's a possible client lost unless some fix exists....

Closing dwm.exe (you have to do it twice) and explorer.exe really does help a lot in speeding the game up... just be careful, closing dwm.exe twice (it's the only way it'll not open till you reboot) disables the Aero theme.

Thanks for both inputs and solutions... Sadly neither works... I don't think its a problem from my laptop since it is a lg p310
