    Default Toopra Or NSS4 Editor? *NON OFFICIAL*

    If you haven't read this post, please do.

    Or if you are lasy, here is a quote of the first post (There are more following):

    In return for your continued support in maintaining accurate player records on www.toopra.com, you will be granted a FREE NSS4 registration code in return. Additionally, you will get to beta-test NSS4 throughout the game's development. NSS4 is scheduled for release in the autumn of 2007 (that’s around September time here).

    You will be responsbile (either solely or working with another) for making sure the following fields are accurate on toopra for players in your assigned country / league.

    Date of Birth
    Place of Birth
    Secondary Nationality
    Joined club date
    Joined as - youth / free / transfer
    Contract length
    Squad numbers
    Weight & Height
    Hair style

    Some of these fields may not be on toopra yet, but they will be soon

    Also, more details will be revealed regarding team / manager data in due course. These may (or may not) be handled seperately from the player data.

    Out of courtesy we have asked previous editors if they wish to keep their leagues for NSS4. The list of leagues and editors can be found HERE.

    If you wish to become an NSS/Toopra editor, please do the following:

    1. Check to see if the country you wish to do is available.
    2. If it is, email jju@newstarsoccer.com with the name of the league / country you'd like to do.
    3. Register on www.toopra.com
    4. Email your Toopra user name to jju@newstarsoccer.com
    5. Await confirmation before beginning work!

    Of course, you can do 2,3 and 4 at the same time
    I will also add you to a mailing list where full instructions will be sent on how to use Toopra and any questions can be asked.
    And the reason why I made this topic is because of this post:

    You may choose Troopa or the incorporated NSS4 Editor

    Troopa:
    • You can modifie databases when ever you like;
    • It is a basic editor and maybe easy if you get the handle of it (I haven't trought);
    • Faster (I presume) than the NSS4 Editor, but slows down a while when searching for a Club or Player (please confirme this because i used a, let's say, a bad pc when I was messing whit Troopa);
    • People that go to the website in cybercafes will have a hard time helping out;
    NSS4 Editor:
    • From the NSS4 Editor pic posted in the blog it looks like an Football Manager(TM) style editor that some people might have mastered it already;
    • A good editor a members that don't have internet in their houses;
    • NSS4 Editor is fast! (Confirmed)
    • You can only modifie databases in one pc, unless you carry the database files (I presume);
    IMPORTANT:
    Please bare in mind that this is not an official topic and that you can choose one of the two options but maybe the one made will be the one whit least votes, or not.

    In an ideal world, we'd have a web-based database which was custom built to the requirements of NSS4. Users would then be able to login and edit it via a program like the NSS4 editor you quote above.

    Having a central database would be great. I can't begin to explain the hassle it was trying to make sure I had the latest version of each country for NSS3, and then checking there weren't duplicate players in different countries.

    I dunno, it's hard to get motivated at the thought of using toopra to be honest

    FYI, the NSS4 editor isn't slow at all. Saving is pretty much instantaneous, as it will be in the main game itself.

    I voted for the NSS4 editor because I find it easier not having to reload pages or go to another page in the case of Troopa.

    On the editing thing I might give it a try again in NSS4, I found that with the statto editor I was much more motivated as it was easier but this went down after a couple of times an issue with the editor mixed all the player heights and it was a real pain having those fixed. So if the new NSS4 editor is as easy and user-friendly as statto's and with no major problems then sign me for the mexican league...

    Whit 6 votes for NSS4 editor and 1 vote for Troopa (7 votes total it looks like NSS4 Editor most people prefer NSS4 Editor...

    To solve JJU's problem, and if Si doesn't mind,he could make a program that opens every database at the same time and atomaticly looks for players whit the same name.

    Sorry if this is not waht you are looking JJU...

    I vote for NSS4 editor. Im not much for online editors because homepages can be unaccessable or network can be down (local or remote).

    If I want to edit data on more pc than one, I will simply move the datafiles. I am more relaxed when editing locally imho.

    There's some speculation that TOOPRA could have data submitted by an offline source, I mean something like preparing data in a CSV, and then upload it all at once What do you think of it??

    It's also more fun, because you can create your own detabase after you are done!

    Well, the decision has now been made to go back to an NSS3 style editor for NSS4.

    Toopra made sense in that it was an online database, meaning multiple users could make changes at the same time. However, having something made to our own requirements seems to be the better option.

    I feared that having an online database could make less-interested people doing changes for the worse.

    If the database has to be online, then it should be NSS4 specific and only certain people allowed to access it.
