Tennis is also a good one when you think about it, as you would have to save up for better tennis rackets and also be able to chose they type of racket to suit your stype. Also you could become friends with other tennis players and then team up with them in doubles.

Interesting actually, you'd have obvious training regimes plus the choices of what weight category to compete in. Then you could go into your style, a la Eubank or Prince Naseem with glossy robes and pretentious entries into the arena.. or not.
