Does anyone bother giving the good / bad reputation points on the message boxes?

It's something that most people may not have noticed yet. If you look at other vB forums, they have a whole points / donate / reputation thang going on.

I want peeps to give rep, to be honest in fact Im thinking of getting rid of post counts and just having rep points.

If you find a post helpfull rate it, if you find a post useless and spam give it a low rating it will help us all to wheat fron the chaff

No, don't get rid of post counts. We could have our post counts and we also could have the reputation, the post counts say how much we post on new star forums and the reputation shows how only some posts that we made deserve reputation.

some forums you dont get posts for in fact with the ongoing discussion of peeps moaning about posts really does make me think more and more of getting rid of them.

Posts counts dont mean anything, you dont get anything out of them, they dont make you better than anyone else. Where a higher rep would give you something it makes you have made posts which the community find helpful

They don't mean anything but they do give an interesting statistic about how much you've contributed to the forum... of course so does reputation. You also know who's a new member because of PCs... so how about just hiding the post counts but not getting rid of them if this is possible?

And what do the numbers next to reputation mean? I can't seem to get it to work, IE giving someone else points.

ha not worried about being number 1 that could be a good idea to hide them though also those stars ... to the point of I have no idea what they do :eek:

Moving your cursor over them puts up '12 month star' so that'd be ridiculous, I'd take 'em down too... just longer load times, by about a tenth of a fraction of a second !
