Default Football Memories, the moments etched in time...

Simple topic, what are the moments that define your football fandom. Can be anything, a great goal to a memorable game. If possible post a video to go with your choice, plese post 1 video/memory at a time (per post) to allow for some discussion of the previous posts.

My all time favorite that I can provide evidence of is the 1999 Champions League Final. As a lifelong United fan it was a special season but that game...wow, that feeling when Bayern scored so early and for us to be riding our luck so hard for most of the game with Bayern hitting the crossbar and the post, being so close to being 3-0 down.

However happy endings do happen here is the game in highlight form.

"and solskjaer has won it!" Still gives me chills everytime I see it.

That was truly an epic final. I wish I had been born earlier

There are many moments and epic victories that define the way I support Benfica, but I'll go with the latest:

The league table currently stands at Porto 60, Benfica 59 and Braga 58. 5 matches to go, Porto are playing Braga and we are playing Sporting -- win this week and that win against Braga (last week) could prove to be very important!

@Cookie: two things spring to mind watching that video, 1) What a nasty clash of heads at the start 2) What great build up play for Benfica's second goal.

Impressively enough, Bruno Cesar (that's the Benfica player) was out for five minutes due to that clash of heads and then he came back to score. I wonder if that made him play better!

    Has to be this...

Got to be one of the best free kicks ever taken. Even so, he scored an even better goal at Wembley. England v Scotland Euro 96. But the one against Arsenal sticks in my mind more than any other.

Despite only being 6 years old I have quite vivid memories of Euro 96, I still can't see a picture of Gareth Southgate without thinking....YOU!!! Was the start of a long trail of painfull England memories for me

Two seasons ago, I went to the modest Estádio do Mar to watch Benfica play Leixġes. We won 0-4. Later that season, we were champions after winning in the final matchday.

Yesterday I watched my 2nd match live, at the Estádio da Luz! Benfica vs Marítimo. We won 4-1, but since Porto won we're still 4 points behind. There's 3 matches to go and they have head-to-head advantage (2-2 and 2-3). It's gonna be tense and hard, but I'll believe till the end.

And here's how my trusty Nikon D80 saw Nolito score the 2nd goal:

During the Euro 2012 coverage the BBC here in England did an excellent mini documentary on the Denmarks performance in that tourney. Inspirational stuff.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17757335 - Article and video here, not sure if the video will work out of the UK though
