I like to propose choosing a president on the basis of how he handles logic, not how cute and cuddly he is!
@Peter - I think some of the votes in the voting sheet (maybe ones selected but that have not changed colour?) are not recognized. Well I'm sure some are not recognized, I just don't know the logic behind. Have a look!
Just to say that, due to a very nice request to Simon made by Frost, a new subtopic was created on the NSGP Forum. All threads related with the online competition of this game were moved to there. NSGPOC1,2,3,4,5,6 + Stats/History.
As soon as this thread is finished it will also be moved as obvious, i just dont if we should move the new season starting 8. Maybe it would be more difficult to find by newcomers or?
If say (excluding myself) the two fastest guys wanted to team up - in my opinion you and Afonso - i would have no problem with that at all, infact i would relish an opportunity to try and train up my teammate to the same level so we could give you a good battle
Temporarily unregistered all votes, don't worry, your votes have been saved and will count when i fix the spreadsheet this evening, you can continue to vote as normal the only issue for now is that no points will be added to yes or no but your vote is registered
I have to say you have a point there, and i was almost convinced after reading it. But there are two things that bugger me.There is no problem with top drivers teaming up together? Except what will happen is this:
next season driver champion: Afonso
next season constructor champion: Afonso and any meh driver that shows up to most races (or Kos and Frost if Afonso has no team mate)
What we could have instead is this:
next season medals: Afonso, ???, ???
next season medals: Afonso, Kolowski, Othello
when would Othello EVER get a medal otherwise, or have a chance?
every single lower ranked driver would have a chance to fight for a medal this way.
Now a reply to the bold parts:
Yeah, you would rather dominate it Peter but that's exactly the point. We should give everyone a fighting chance because that makes the game fun for most, not just those who are superfast or team up with superfast.
As for best drivers pairing: that is not common at all. Teams have to go through great periods of success to be able and afford two of the best drivers Senna-Prost style. In fact, what we have in Formula 1 is this - teams are very different in terms of performance and funding and infrastructure etc etc but FIA keeps changing the rules madly trying to level the field and make it more exciting to watch.
The fun comes in two flavors: drivers championship and teams championship.
Drivers championship comes down to every driver having an approx. equal chance to show his skill - which we have!
Teams championship comes down to every team having an approx. equal chance to show their skill - which we don't have at all. And we should, all cars' pace is equal?
You Peter should be the first one to embrace ideas that would make the fight more interesting for the common folk. Because how is it fair for us to play together and for your team to seemingly have unlimited funds and mine barely can pay the pit crew?
1+10 is, in that regard, more realistic than any random thing we have now.
Afonso has won 320 pts, Ceraj has won 44.
We simply say: Afonso salary is 320.000 and Ceraj salary is 44.000. Every team that competes has the same budget of 364.000 and can sign up any drivers they see fit and that they can afford. Same budget = equal chance for all teams = no forcing drivers together.
It might be just me but "equal chance for all teams" does not really sound all that bad for an online game.
One is that the main reason so we participate in the online championship is to compete against other human players, with the purpose of trying to beat the others. Adding an extra layer of competion is a good thing, but on the basis of choosing teams it seems to me that almost everyone will try to choose a team that as some affection with (if i could choose, i prefer to race in a red Ferrari car, then to run in a grey Mclaren, despite running for Mclaren would give me better chances to win the constructors championship). And besides that, i think (and this is just a thought, probably i can change my opinion during next season) i would prefer to finnish 3rd or 4th pairing with another newcomer like Gatewood, then to win the constructors championship if pairing with you or Afonso.
The other reason is that there is no statistics for the racers who won medals in the constructors championship. If you consult the tables and statistics, you would find the name of the players who won gold, silver and bronze medals, but you don't know who won any of the constructors championship , unless you search in two different tables, one time for each season. Nobody seems to miss that aspect (maybe i'm wrong).
But i do agree with the following: when choosing teams for next season there should be some rules. First if anyone wants to keep their seat, then he should have it. But if there is one or more players that want to change to the same team, they should pair like you said.
Well the 1+10 rule is more of a "high limit", on the "low" side you could as well pair with another newcomer and have no issuesAnd besides that, i think (and this is just a thought, probably i can change my opinion during next season) i would prefer to finnish 3rd or 4th pairing with another newcomer like Gatewood, then to win the constructors championship if pairing with you or Afonso.
I do miss it! I've suggested it before already but the tables and such depend only on the good will of those who make itThe other reason is that there is no statistics for the racers who won medals in the constructors championship. If you consult the tables and statistics, you would find the name of the players who won gold, silver and bronze medals, but you don't know who won any of the constructors championship , unless you search in two different tables, one time for each season. Nobody seems to miss that aspect (maybe i'm wrong).
So to answer to Przemator on constructor medals:
- if a a driver has driven more than 50% races for the constructor winning team, he gets a con medal!
- if a driver (or more drivers) have driven less than 50% races for a constructor winning team then it is as follows:
lead driver points enough to take constructors - only lead driver gets medal
lead driver + driver with 2nd largest number of appearances enough to take constructors - those two take medals
lead driver + 2nd +3rd... etc - 3 take medals, etc
