Thread: New Star Soccer 5 - Ideas to improve the game / Bugs to eliminate

    5. When holding the tackling button, the player should chase the ball, not the opponent. When running in a straight line in front of the ball from the side/back of the opponent, and you press the tackling button, the player turns and goes towards the player more than the ball, so you rarely make the tackle.

In my opinion, the biggest gameplay issues are:
    1. Team mates passing the ball behind you; they should pass to the location where you will be, when you continue at the same speed in the same direction.
    2. Not able to change direction whilst powering up a shot.

If these would be addressed, it would majorly improve the playability during matches.
    And thus my happiness

not sure if it is possible in nss5, but in SWS (same engine) there was a parameter named "fixkick" in the .cfg file. setting it to 0 or 1 changed the behaviour of the direction arrow whilst powering up a shot.

another thing i don't like is that you run towards the ball if you keep the shot button pressed whilst the ball is in the air or passed towards you. in nss3 you were running to where the ball will be.

There is only a settings.txt in the program dir and an options.ini in the user dir. Both of them have no setting that looks like fixkick.
So I'm afraid it's not so easy to change this.

i think si put the match-configfile in the .exe so you can't cheat.

he should make fixkick an option in the control setup

I'd like to make a suggestion, maybe you already had that in mind, but I'll try to explain.
Could, in future, try to put the names of real players in the teams, even if the names wrong (to dont pay royalties name, lol), just like NSS3. This makes the game get more interesting. At least I, feel like I'm playing alongside players of the team that I like, which is the Vasco, from Brazil.
But this is just a suggestion, consider this

I think the same. For me, one of the most important things of career mode in football games is the possibility to play with Messi, CR7, Rooney, etc. Obviusly, pay the license is impossible, but put the name with one or two words wrong like NSS3 or NSS4/2010 is possible.

Also, I think that can be interesting put a leaderboard with the maximum scorer of the league, maximum assistant, etc. like NSS3 or NSS4/2010, I don't find it in NSS5.

That's all, and sorry for my English .

Your English isn't that bad, Alberto, I understand what you mean and I agree with your points.
The other players in my team could use some more personality
And a topscorer list and player with most assists in the league/cup/tournament would be a nice feature.

OK, i'll try to sum up the most important issues and suggestions for our friend Si:

1/ Being able to change the direction while charging a shot (maybe the most important issue)
2/ Better time handling during the week (as in NSS3-4)
3/ Live rating during the match
4/ Showing the names during a substitution (player out - player in)
5/ Getting the game stats after skipping time when substitued out
6/ Putting back a sprint button (I really missed it, and i still have the reflex of pressing the sprint button when playing NSS5)
7/ Having player names close to the real ones
8/ Swap shirts for collecting or selling them (as in NSS4)
9/ "Deep" pass (players should pass the ball deep into the field (using an alternate button along with the pass button for exmpl))
10/ Being able to negociate separate items of the contract (goal fee- assist fee-...) the minigame could be more or less hard depending on how many items you're negociating
11/ Hppiness - boose - Energy driks having less effects on the game (you drink One single Energy drink, you systematicaly have stomach cramps, same with "unhapiness" shots)

I thought he meant that the player can't change direction to run into with the ball whilst powering up a shot which is just silly as you can't just get a yard of space to shoot from.

On the real names issue, I think that there simply has to be the real players there in some form along with the attributes that go with them. At the moment there is no real excitement of moving to a bigger team as 1. The transfers always follow the same formula (interest, newspaper, transfer request (why is this obligatory to move?), contract, done. 2. There is no change in what you can do/ see (should be more fans who know you, better facilities, different personalities of teammates/ coaches, reputation makes pundits talk about you differently etc.) 3. all the teams are effectively anonymous and without any distinction in talent level.

I agree that the teams need more personality and distinction.
But adding a player database has also some disadvantages that need to be considered:
    1. increase of loading times, because player data has to be read from the database
    2. increase of saving times, because the savefile becomes a lot bigger (it must record which player has transferred to which club)
    3. real names need to be updated to stay accurate

Updating the list, tell me if i'm missing some important suggestions/issues

1/ Being able to change the direction while charging a shot (maybe the most important issue)

3/ Live rating during the match

6/ Putting back a sprint button (I really missed it, and i still have the reflex of pressing the sprint button when playing NSS5)
7/ Having player names close to the real ones
8/ Swap shirts for collecting or selling them and accessing both team stats at the end of the game where you can see other players ratings & stats (as in NSS4)
9/ "Deep" pass (players should pass the ball deep into the field (using an alternate button along with the pass button for exmpl))
10/ Being able to negociate separate items of the contract (goal fee- assist fee-...) the minigame could be more or less hard depending on how many items you're negociating
11/ Happiness - boose - Energy drinks having less effects on the game (you drink One single Energy drink, you systematicaly have stomach cramps, same with "unhapiness" shots)
12/ Displaying the names of the scorers (doesn't matter now, but the feature could be interesting if anyone ever come up with a real name database)

BTW, I just upgraded my account, so i would be playing a lot more now and looking for suggestions

NSS isn't a hugely demanding game for most computers so I don't really think 1 + 2 are issues. Most football games either don't or only on a few select dates update the teams so I don't think that's too massive a problem either.

Some problems I had in 3 years of career:

    1) Copa Libertadores, do not show up as champion. During the competition, two games did not appear to be played ... just appeared in the result table.

    2) Copa America, CA2 ... I won with Brazil, but the final game was not played. The championship ended in the semifinals.
