I'm currently on the BETA program from F1 online game from Codemaster and......i have to say its #$%^ addictive. Its great actually even though i like to have games standalone. I mean, the ones you can play on your PC/Mac without the need of a internet connection.

Under the agreement of the BETA Program i cant comment the game and its details but i agree with you Scuff, there's space for both games but....i also think that eventually Codemaster will update the game to be able to play like NSGP and then....im sorry to say, then NSGP can die very fast even though its a great game!
Next month the Beta program will be open to everyone and....probably Peter will disappear from NSGPOC! I think it will be in some way his style. Lets see how many guys from here will be converted!

    Si,

The interest in New Star Soccer Mobile, shows how you compete with it. NSGP would be awsome as an iphone/android port.

I've got an invite to the Closed Beta too! Going to play it a little and see what it's like! Hopefully it's not so good that it'd put NSGP out of business, that would be a real shame...

EDIT: Apparently this isn't such a "Closed" beta, according to a post on their facebook page everyone who had signed up for the Closed Beta until the end of yesterday would be invited.. But still, it's very good to get early access to game, no matter how exclusive it is.
Check out my NSGP or my SLR creations!

Well, you can be relaxed cause it will not take the NSGP place! Its a good game with great graphics but....still needs much more things to overcome NSGP. I speak only about 2 things (and im not supposed to talk about it due to a non disclosure clause) . The fact that you only can drive with a mouse turns down loads of persons, i am one of those persons. I reach a point where im looking where i have the mouse instead of looking to the great track graphics. With keys only, NSGP style, the game experience would be much better. The other point is that is a browser based game. For the persons with slow connections can be a big issue.
All this not to mention the bunch of stuff that a simple game created by an independent guy (Simon) called NSGP has, and this one from a big company like Code#$%^ that spends millions in development doesnt have! Hard to believe? Thats true.

    Here some simple stuff:

    3 different set of tires
    pitstops
    Fuel
    Weather conditions
    Control only with keys
    Standalone game
    .....

So, at the moment, NSGP wins! Lets wait till the full release comes out and then we can make a VS thread!

Non-disclosure agreement? What? Never heard of it. Was it in the License Agreement? I never read those things.

I was in fact about to upload my first playthrough of the game to YouTube (to show other people the game), until I saw your comment about it and changed my mind a bit. Then I read that anyone that applied for the Closed Beta got invited to play the game: that was when I cancelled the upload of the video, after all, whoever got interested in the game can see for themselves the game.

But I must say the concept of the game is very good, controlling the car is easy and intuitive. I barely even look at my mouse cursor, most of the times I'm looking at the big arrows coming out of the front of the car, pointing to the cursor. That allows me look around without getting unfocused too much. Btw it has good graphics for a browser game, I was impressed.
However it feels rather shallow during the race, all there is just accelerating, braking and pointing at the right place: you don't have to worry about tires, fuel, damage or weather, again, it's shallow. Although the team managing part of the game impressed me, it really has a lot of depth. During its tutorial I didn't payed much attention, instead I just clicked continue over and over, and now I feel I'm in a bit of trouble not knowing very well what to do.

In my opinion, however, I disagree with you about the controls, I find that playing with a mouse is much easier than playing with a controller or keys. It took me quite a bit of time to be "good" at NSGP, but with F1 Online I just picked up the game, played the tutorial and now I'm doing well in races. To me, Wheel > Mouse > Keys, when it comes to racing games.

And even though it's currently in beta, I think (and hope, for NSGP's sake) that they won't add much more to game, considering we're talking about Codemasters, not Valve or even maybe New Star Games. (Valve has updated Team Fortress 2 296 times (!), most of the time adding new stuff, and ways of making money as well, or course. )

The non disclosure agreement....yes is what you just ticked the check box and press continue to be able to play the game as fast as you can!

Yeah, the game is in Beta phase yet but they have already in mind some developments. For example, theres no pitstops at the moment which makes it a bit unreal, but they will implemented in the future....
But they are not revealing many things at the moment...lets see where it goes but....for me the mouse control really turns me down! Im so used to play with keys....

I didn't realise this topic was still going until i checked just now. I haven't actually played the F1 game that much, it's okay but NSGP is much more fun really! Mainly because of the OC - which i'm fully dedicated to for now.

Although if we don't see a NSGP2 eventually i may lose interest - let's see what happens!

They're really trying to make as much profit as possible with the F1 license - not that i'm complaining

Let's see if it's any better than what they've put out so far

I've come back to the game to play it a bit today after a long while... Honestly the game is good but it suffers from a lot of problems like the fact that every race is 3 laps and that's it, no real F1 management... Another point is that everything is meant to pull cash out of you (construction , liveries, everything basically).

But, the biggest, greatest problems of all... there are NO players. Tonight I sat minutes in the lobby waiting for races to start because we could not reach the min number of players... Now, I don't know if the online situation in NSGP is still alive and well but at least in NSGP you can play offline, here you can't.

    Disappointing.

Oh, and they did not even update the F1 team for the new season, so basically they are still playing with the 2012 drivers... meh...
