I dont have a single score (top 10) cause i always stay like 0.200/300 behind Paul Mellor (The president) and the others, again after making perfect laps. I think the only way to make some of the quickest laps (in many tracks) is to use the qualifying or race when there are more cars on track to use the draft and with that beat the records.
There's actually a few little tricks that can be used to optimise your times quite legitimately. I decided to do a little "cheating" myself and improved many of my times on the front 9. There's some awesome times up there, but nothing that isn't achievable with practice (believe it or not, these times are with me being rusty!) and a little bit of luck. Except for those Bahrain scores, they're just silly....

But why? Doesn't it spoil it for you knowing that your time wasn't obtained 'fairly'?

im sure some of you came up with that too...
Nope I hope Simon is taking note and stops the rules being circumvented in the imminent NSGP2 (hope it doesn't beat Duke Nukem Forever's record )

You mean a standard of yours? I've never heard of OPQA myself

Despite Sida79's claims, I NEVER deliberately drive into anybody - if I hit another car it's because you drove into me or I just couldn't avoid you.
Well... what happened yesterday was that even though I was somewhat faster than you I wanted to overtake proper so it would took me a LOT of tries to pull it off without pushing and if I did you'd just return the position right away and eventually I stood no chance at all against you even though I was obviously faster. This must have happened XY times:

I slow down to take the turn in a smooth matter (nevermind the drawing) and there you are!

After bouncing off me a bit you continue calmy forward.

Now - it is possible with lag that you dont see me and just enter the turns much faster and touch me undeliberately but what happened is that you were taking those turns not in an upside down U shape but in an upside down V shape instead (much sharper then I managed to draw). You must have lost massive time every time you did but obviously getting in my way was a priority and it's a strategy that certainly pays of as you finished ahead of me in SGP

As far as Duke Nukem Forever goes - serves them right for making a game with a DNF acronym!

As far as online times go... I think every one is made with multiple slipstreams and cutting the corners with KERS, etc. Often and especially on faster tracks, I make great laps (and it's 97% pedal to the metal anyway) and I end up 76th etc.

Actually I think only one of my times was done with slipstreaming. I admit several of them have KERS corner cutting, but honestly there's only a few tracks where this beats a really aggressive line. Several of my top times are actually done without KERS, and if I leave KERS iff I can still get a top-20 time on just about every track. Again this is why I wish best laps could be saved, ghosted and replayed, to prove their legitimacy.

Well why don't you folks ever do it while we race online? Usually I do some crappy lap and I'm within half a second to the leader no prob. Offline I do omgwtf laps from time to time and I'm more than a second behind Afonso, Prz, etc.

If I could run my 14-star McLaren or Ferrari, I would. Sadly I have to use the 1.5 star online car, and it's a much different art to get a quick time out of it. And I'm sure that if you spent some time on it and ran a few laps on fumes and in a well set up car, you'd be at least top-10 on every track.

@PRZ Well...i didnt even knew that that was possible to do! Call me crazy but...i always made my laps on practice time with fuel and tires on and almost every lap i go to pit change tires to have an optimized car to beat records. Only yesterday i remembered to put tires off but never tried with fuel off cause maybe it changes the weight of the car (im not sure). So all the laps i´ve set on the records is really without any kind of cheats, well if KERS cutting corners is considered cheat then i cheat! But so does everybody.

@KOS To set the record laps i see it like this:

You must have an optimized car (low fuel, tires almost always on max, and a car with 5.0,5.0.4.0).
Luck also plays a very important role here. Even if i never set a record lap with the help of draft, i believe that to beat some of the records already established by other drivers (Paragon, Mellor, Tom or even PRZ) you need to have that point of luck that a car goes in front of you (in one of your fast laps without mistakes at all) and in a place which is not so difficult to overtake and use slip-streaming to get some extra 0.xxxs to make an exceptional time. I still didnt had that luck yet specially because when i do get a car in front of me in a perfect place to overlap, its a slower car that just steps aside for me to pass which makes go mad at this time!! Or i do use the draft but that particular lap wasnt a fast one, bla,bla,bla.......

Anyway, the record laps are for me like the world records on Olympics. From time to time you set that record cause all of the conditions were suiting to you and its dam difficult to gather them again all at the same time in the same place.
But it gives motivation to beat them. At least to me.

EDIT: @Kos OPQA Space indeed it used to be a standard, at least in the games that i used to play (not all off course). But maybe my memory is starting to fail!

most of my records were made in practice (guess what... no slipstreams!) with very low fuel and in a McLaren. I spent at least half an hour for each track, but for some it was much more, just lap after lap, a lot of swearing, a lot of going back to start again. there's really sth magical about record laps, that you keep making these 27.100 laps over and over and then you make a 26.500 and then you can't repeat it for another hour.

I'm insulted the table does not include me as an honorary member on 246th place! So I drove a quick season (meaning I just did qualis and skipped races) and set new times wherever there wasn't rain.

A few times... top time on several tracks, and in the top-10 for most. Nice work, befitting of your champion status.

Well, 2 top times and judging by the other times probably Afonso drove until he broke the record (right away? ) and then stopped so that's why it happened. Also the top 10's are widely enough spread to be able to squeeze in even with a time of something like half a second behind leader.

Judging by my average gap to leaders I'm thinking there must be some neat tricks for some tracks because one track I was a second and a half behind on my best attempt. Also I'm a second behind on Italy, with KERS, without KERS, empty, slipstreaming 12 drivers in a row - anything

    LOL
I can´t also enter on top 10 on Italy. It looks really impossible. But im close...i understand already you need to make it without KERS and defenitly use slipstreaming plus a perfect lap. Difficult to achieve.
Actually at the moment is what is giving me fun on the game, beat the records! And you´re right, Singapore and Korea i didnt do my best lap, i beat the record and went away to other track but.....i will take care of that soon Kos dont worry! I want to leave my mark on NSGP and then im satisfied! It´s like setting a world record!
