    Default My Latest Flash Game Project

    Hey guys, I only quite recently released my last game, however I have been spending a fair amount of time working on my new, rather ambitious game, Revenge of the Cows.

    I have uploaded a little engine test to see what the game is like so far. Much of the graphics are nowhere near done yet (Lets see if anyone can tell what game the cow sprite is from?) and the player is just a nice circle so far.

    Much of the trigonometry, level system and Weapon Engine is completed, now I only really need to focus on the upgrade mechanics (Currently have about 20 weapons in-game) and a few other things. Then obviously the GUI needs doing and some quality mechanicsm/save mechanism.

    So, without further ado, here it is so far!;

    WASD to move. Mouse to FIRE (Can hold it down). You cannot DIE, it is disabled as it needs fixing. Hopefully this will be included in next test update.

    IMPORTANT NOTICE /

    Currently, the game has not been thoroughly combed for memory errors/leaks. Although Flash automatically garbage-collects most items that are no longer used (e.g. dead cows, bullets off the stage, etc.) it can be dodgy until this is done. If the game starts to lag, I suggest stop playing, as it is usually an indicator that one of the event timers has exploded).

    There are 5 little levels, with each level brings a new gun;

    1. PISTOL (Called the "Sadler", worst pistol in-game (Starter gun))
    2. PISTOL (Called the "Wolf", best pistol in-game)
    3. SHOTGUN (Called the "Grim", best shotgun)
    4. ASSAULT RIFLE (Called the "Cobra", best assault rifle)
    5. SPECIAL (Called the "Annihilator", best weapon?, secret weapon)

    Levels advance from 10 kills, 50 kills, 100 kills to 200 kills for the SPECIAL weapon.

    Feedback so far is much appreciated. Each weapon will eventually have its own graphic (You may notice that the pistol bullets start much closer to the player than the Assault rifle bullets (This is to accomodate the length of the weapons when I can be bothered to draw them in).

    Nice work so far, but the game title says Revenge Of The Pigs?

    I found it a bit too easy, particularly once you get the annihilator as it's impossible to lose. It would be nice to see some other enemies, maybe chickens (headless?) that run around in an erratic fashion.

    Good work though - keep it up!

    Goodness yes, as soon as I uploaded I realised that. After coding for nearly 7 hours a weapon engine, you kind of forget the difference between cows and pigs.

    I plan on adding a few more enemies, and also get a health system added (Which is there already, however they only have 1 hp) which should make the game tougher. Obviously this is quite an early test, all gun stats are to be changed. Plus the Annihilator probably will be the very final weapon to purchase (Or unlock...all achievements obtained?).

    Looks a good game It's kinda easy though, but adding a health system will help making this game hard, as well as being able to die. I think you should add a purchase system - you get points, you buy things with points. Like armor, or better weapons.

    [n]Controls: WASD / Arrows* to move. Mouse to aim & shoot.

    New Features
    • New game HUD (Still more things to be added)
    • New Collision engine
    • Enemies now have health.
    • Different guns have different damage (Sniper rifles damage > SMG damage)
    • New enemy types (Not included in preview just yet...)
    • New weapons (Again, only 1 available in this short preview, the A6 Shotgun.
    • Large-Stage & Camera Prop. (It is present, however not really able to understand or see how it works in the preview).
    • Player health. (You can not die yet, although an Event is triggered once health=0, but have'nt got round to making a "DEAD" screen yet...


    Planned Features is quite large. I am slowly getting all the back-end stuff done, so once that is done, the trivial interfaces/upgrades/menus/story can be added rather quickly and easily.

    Constructive criticism & comments are welcome!

    *EDIT: I am aware that the "UP" key does not seem to work. Try pressing "V" instead. It works, doesnt it? It's because I was playing around with my custom Keyboard system and forgot to change it back.

    Feature request: Add an "i have a crappy AZERTY keyboard" option to the options screen(got it? an option in the options screen?/fail), not a problem for me, but some people probably cant change their keyboard language.
