Default Strange problem: 1 frame every 5 seconds after the new update

Hello, so, finally seems like SLR was updated for us, Steam users... but weird thing happens with this update... the game just won't run fine.

The game takes ages to start up the menu, and once it starts, I run it with normal settings and the game looks frozen, with a single frame every 5 seconds, but the music plays normally in the background, although not even the mouse works... I have to close it by task bar, force-kill trying a few times...

Is this a known issue? because it worked completely fine before the update..

P.S: The startup of the NSG logo looks smooth, the menu is just completely broken and will run horrible.

Seems to be working ok for most people - I was playing it online with 5-6 others just now.
First thing to try is a reboot.

I tried both already, and none of them work.
I've also tried disabling the in-game overlay thing of Steam, doesn't do anything either.

If it helps, I am on an Intel 3ghz core duo, geforce 9800 gtx+ and 4 gb ram (on XP service pack 3, 32 bit, so it's 3'5)

What's most annoying is it was working before... but after the update it doesn't work anymore and the first startup loading time from 30 seconds has been expanded to 5 minutes.

I've got 400 GB of free disk space, I doubt it is that...

P.S.: Remember, it was working one week ago before it was updated on Steam... I have barely changed anything except installing Tunngle, but it is not running at this moment and some friends have the same network setup as me and it works for them.

Then the only solution that I can see is installing it without steam...
Btw, which is your .Net Framework version?

    Patch? Which patch?
If you mean the update, Steam updates itself automatically, and as I said, the previous version (without multiplayer and all) worked fine... 1.22 or 1.12, I can't remember exactly, but I guess you know what I mean.

Try changing the Xp pack, 'cause service pack 3 is known for causing some trouble...

I would... but if I did, half of my software, including the tools I work with such as photoshop and 3d studio would break and stop working...

I wouldn't understand how that would work though, as this service pack was installed with the windows update, fixing the incompatibility issues...
Again, it was working a week ago before the SLR update (also I've had Service Pack 3 for more than half a year)

I don't think a game that broke on an update is worth a try borking my work tools, although, thanks for the help.

No problem man, I appreciate the intention anyway

I hope siread can find a way to solve the issue, or maybe a problem with the game code itself... I don't know, I'm out of ideas myself.

Just to doublecheck right now, I've downloaded a pirated version of the old SLR since I couldn't find any old version in the NSG site... and it works 100% fine, both cracked (full version) and not cracked (demo version)...

It's definately a problem with the update, because if the previous version works completely alright, and the new one doesn't, it means something broke in it...

    [EDIT] Oops, sorry for doublepost.....
