Thread: Getting a strange problem with the maps in SLR

Default Getting a strange problem with the maps in SLR

I don't think the maps are loading properly, all the tiles are just randomly placed, meaning that half the time the cars are going slowly because there is no road to drive on, even though they are in the correct place (between the barriers at the sides).

I can post a screenshot if you guys want, but basically the maps just look like random collections of the map tiles from the editor, with some white lines running through them marking where the sides of the road should be. This problem effects the bots as well, and there have been a few times when they have spawned outside the barriers on the side of the track and spent the entire race trying to drive through the wall.

This game looks really fun, so hopefully I can get this sorted out and start actually playing it.

That sounds strange indeed. Have you tried re-installing? Uninstall and make sure that the folder C:/Program Files/Super Laser Racer/ is deleted completely. Then download and install again.

If you still have a problem, try updating your graphics card drivers.

Then if it's still a mess, post a screenshot.

Ok, I reinstalled. I bought the game on steam so I just clicked 'Delete Local Content' and then re-downloaded. It is still getting the same problem though, so I might try again but make sure the folder is completely deleted this time.

I could try find updates for my drivers, but the program which came with my computer for auto-updating them says no new drivers exist (perhaps this isn't to be trusted though). I don't think it is a problem with my drivers though, the graphics for the game all seem fine, it's just that the maps are all scrambled.

    Some screenshots:

As you can see, the coloured outlines of the track segments are still there, and while driving between those coloured lines the car moves quickly. The white lines marking the edges of the map are still there, though not necessarily in the right place (sometimes there is a barrier you cannot drive through with no white line, and vice versa).

Later on today I'll reinstall again but this time make sure steam deletes the folder completely, hopefully that works.

    Default same problem

I've the same problem with the new version of the game on Stean.

Eurynomos, found any solution? Yes, I also reinstalled the game already. On my other computer it works but not on my notebook.

Note: I restarted the game and the spawn on Lazcon was different.

Is it possible that the download from Steam is not compatible with FAT32?

Could be. Any chance of trying it out on an NTFS drive?

any mods installed? I also have seen something like this in NSGP when duplicate copies of block objects have been in the directory. Check that as well.

No, unmodified install just downloaded from Steam. And (as far as I can see) all tiles are correctly downloaded.
In 4 hours I can check both directorys (on my computer [working and by the way NTFS] and on my laptop) for differences.

EDIT: I compared both folders. They are 100% the same.
Maybe some of this causes the problems: graphics controller, .NET-version or OS.

Not working on SAMSUNG R60 plus (3 or 4 years old; german version) [sry, I cannot find a webpage with its hardware]
    Newest drivers/updates should be installed.
    graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon HD2400
    OS: Win Vista 32-bit
    .NET Framework-versions: 3.5 SP1 , 4.0 Client Profile
