    Default Unrealistic Simulation Scores

In Group A, I just had the first game of South Africa v Mexico finish 6-8 and the game between Uruguay v France finish 7-2, absolutely hilarious, but highly unrealistic.

Well the results Felipe posted could happen (even if the Portuguese result is kinda unlikely...) but for instance as much as I hate France, 7-2 is something that'd never happen!

what about england losing all 3 matches and scoring only 1 goal? :S

To counter this, nations could have 2 generic stats, Defense, attack, roll a die, add the defense rating to the result(e.g. 3 + 2, 5), then roll another one and add the attack rating to the result( such as 4 + 3, 7) now, IF:
Attack result 2 or more higher than defense, add 1 goal
Attack result 1 higher than defense, roll again
Attack Result is same/ lower than defense result, "change sides" team being attacked now attacks and repeat procedure 2 or 3 times per team, not sure if you understood anything

This may have something to do with the lack of squads though...

    i think so too.
sometimes the teams choose weird formations (extremely offensive, nearly no defense) which lead to such results
