View Full Version : Bradley Davies - The Story So Far
Written in a slightly unusual form.
"In 2000, a young footballer called Bradley Davies was spotted by Torquay United, and after joining their youth team, he exploded onto the scene in 2002. Starting his first game of the season, Davies scored a marvelous goal and capped the performance with an assist also. Davies was able to score a further 7 goals in just 14 more games to attract some decent clubs. To no suprise then, when Dagenham & Redbridge opened their chequebook to sign the 17 year old striker for a fee of £25,000 in November 2002.
Unfortunately, Davies dissapointed in his first few games for Dag & Red, but after a slightly bad bit of form, Davies improved upon his past form, and managed an impressive tally of 14 goals in the 23 games he played. However, following a rift with other players and the manager, Davies left Dag & Red and accepted a lower wage offer from Division 1 club Ipswich Town in March 2003.
Davies has been on sensational form for the club since signing, scoring an amazing 10 goals in 7 games, including his first ever hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Gillingham and also being given the captain's arm band.

Davies finished the 2002-2003 season with 14 goals in just 11 games.
At the end of the season, speculation was mounting as to whether Davies would be an Ipswich player much longer with reported bust-ups with team mates and the manager.
However, Davies stayed on for the 2003-2004 season and produced expectional form to score 31 goals in 29 games. Once again, rumours were bounding around whether Davies was ready to leave Ipswich, but once again Davies stayed on after reportedly rejecting a transfer to Lazio.
After a poor start to the season with injuries, and problems with the manager, Davies eventually left Ipswich in the January market of 2004-05 season to join League 1 leaders Wimbledon.
After playing just 15 games and scoring 20 goals, Davies was offered an irresistable offer of £8,000 per week to play for Premier League mid-tablers Nottingham Forest. Davies agreed and transfered in March. Davies only played 11 games, but managed to score an impressive 8 goals.
The 2005-06 season started off well for Davies, scoring 8 goals in just 8 games, but finished the season with just 16 goals to show for his 37 appearances. It was believed Davies had gone in over-his-head and was unable to cope with the demands of Premier League survival.
Davies improved slightly the following 2006-07 season, with 18 goals in 32 games, but his late-season form was astonishing, with 11 goals in just 5 games. This late spur promted excessive interest from many foreign teams.
Davies was believed to have teams such as Sporting Lisbon, Lazio and Borussia Dortmund interested, but Davies claimed he felt he was too young to move abroad yet and wanted to stay within the UK. Thats why at the very begining of the 07-08 season, Davies took a slightly-lower wage (to what other clubs were offering) to join Leeds United, who were top-half in Premier League.
Davies made his debut and scored his first goal just 18 minutes into the match against Liverpool. Leeds drew the match 1-1.

Davies finished the 07-08 season with Leeds and despite offers from larger teams, stayed at Leeds due to his good relationship with the club. He finished the 07-08 season with 20 goals in 27 games.
During the 08-09 season, Leeds slumped down the table despite 25 goals in 36 games by Davies, Leeds were relegated and Davies decided he didnt want to stay. Thats when, a massive lucrative offer from Spanish club Athletic Bilbao came in, that Davies left his homeland for the first time.
In his first season at Bilbao, Davies was on exceptional form and scored an amazing 46 goals in just 30 games. Everyone was happy, but at the end of the season, Bilbao decided to transfer list Davies and unwillingly he joined Italian supremos Internazionale.
Despite scoring an impressive 26 goals in 25 games, Davies was unsettled at Inter and when Bilbao offered him a way back to Spain, he quickly accepted despite lower wages.
Davies returned Bilbao's favour by netting a superious 35 goals in 27 games.
Next season though, Davies shocked the footballing world when he scored an unrivaled 70 goals in just 34 games for Bilbao, and hit world fame like never before. His stock increased tenfold, and perhaps Davies had hit his pinaccle.
He stayed on with Bilbao despite massive clubs such as AC Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid sniffing around, and played 12 games the next season - scoring 38 goals , which is more than 3 goals a game! - before being sold to Walsall due to Bilbao's struggling league position, and Walsall curently first in the premier league. Up to this point, despite Davies' massive success, he had not won any league's with any club, but after joining Walsall and leading them to win the Premier League, Davies had won it all.
Davies contributed 36 goals in Walsall's 25 games he played, but was often criticized by the manager for lack of effort (!) and sold at the end of the season to mid-tablers Rochdale. He had an amazing season at Rochdale, scoring 46 goals in just 21 games, his second highest tally in a season. And then he bet that record the following season, with 49 goals in 22 games for Rochdale.
Injuries were begining to hamper Davies' career, now aged 32.
He started the 2016-17 season with Rochdale, but following a lack of goals and poor performances, was sold to AS Roma of the Serie A.
He is currently out injured, but has replicated good form with 8 goals in as many games so far this season.
