Toca Touring Car 97 Mod

STATUS

- Car handling, speed and acceleration complete.
- All teams, drivers, driver stats complete.
- All car liveries complete.
- Donnington Park and Silverstone International added
- Donnington Park Short Circuit added.
- RAF Thruxton Added

IN PROGRESS

- Fuel weight effect.
- KERS / Turbocharger effect
- Fuel Consumption, Tyre Wear, Grass/Gravel friction.
- Tracks
- Career mode
- Historic Touring Car Unlockables
- Overtaking and damage engine.

I'm embarking upon creating a full conversion of New Star GP to "NS BTCC 97". 1997 was one of the most exciting seasons, with the emergance of Jason Plato, the dominence of the Renault, and the new Ford Mondeo being unvealed.


Toca NSGP 97

- All 13 permanent teams from the 97 season, including 4 independant drivers and manufacturers.

- 24 rounds of racing in a fully functional season, including custom made tracks such as Silverstone, Thruxton, Brands Hatch, Donnington and Oulton Park.

- Accurate car stats, liveries and driver specific trim.

- All new handling, speed and acceleration engine, bumper to bumper racing with paint swapping damage stats, new BTCC specific tyre wear and fuel economy.

But of course, I will be needing some help. I'm particularly keen to bring someone on board with knowledge of AI and the database file, as well as sharing the collosal load of creating 8 new tracks from scratch to very accurate asthetic proportions.

Hope I can get some guys on board to give me a hand.

There is a track map and satelite view for each, although maybe a bit small. Google maps would be best probably.

hi rob, well i dont think i'm much help in this one, i live in a country where Touring cars dont get much coverage, so i never got into them, and know close to nothing about them :S.

If its F1 i'll be able to give more of a help.

Regarding help on the AI / database, maybe i can help, what do you need?

As far as the database file and settings go, heres my christmas list:

-I want to be able to have teams of one car as well as teams of two, with 12 teams in total - is this possible?
-I want the cars to have the same feel as the very top end unlockable sports cars in season mode, with lots of lovely drift!
-I want reduced damage, reduced fuel consumption (one stop per race), greater speed over the gravel and grass (so if you do make a mistake, the close racing isn't compromised).
-I also want to know why the quick race isn't reflecting my changes :blimey:
-I want ice-cream
-I want sweets
-I want a pony...

Thanks dude, for any help you can give, and get reading into Classic Touring Cars, I promise you'll love it!

Teams always have 2 drivers, with the Db now in place, there is nothing you can do about it.



i never bought any cars of the unlocable ones, so i dont really know what you mean, but i sense you cannot, since the unlocable cars are not defined in the sames terms of the F1 cars (speed handling acce) at least they are not in the database, instead they are defined using the cars.ini which as this format:
sportscar_1, 4, -3, -4, 22, 17 that is 5 values for each car, with even negative values so, i would say no. Maybe the drift=0.955 value in the engine.ini affects the f1 cars, but i never tested it or changed it, maybe siread can help you here.
all this can be done in the settings.ini on your mod.

this controls damage:
damage_wall=2.0
damage_cars=0.8



fuel consuption:
fuelconsumption=0.0008
speed over grass and gravel:
fric_grass=0.945
fric_gravel=0.925

Now for the value you need, you need to fiddle with them and test them.
quick race uses a different db, so you have to replace that db too, i believe they are in the save directory, but i'm not sure
Ice Cream, sweets and a pony a probably harder ;)

Thanks buddy, I'm really stuggling matching up the stats from the unlockables to reflect those in the F1 database...i'll need to do a bit of einsteining...

NSGP seems to just want to crash now. I've re-named all the teams and drivers, got rid of all the independents so there are now 8 teams and 16 drivers from the constructors championship...yet the whole thing is having a giant paddy, I don't know what i'm doing wrong.

Hey robbyd.

I was just wondering if you are still working on this mod. Because it would be great to see this finish, or just with the additions from your to-do-list.
I personally would like to play this more than F1. So am crossing my fingers :)
