View Full Version : Driver AI and Car Performance

Hey guys first time poster here, but loving the game so far. I especially love how open ended it is and have already designed my own team liveries to use as a season unlockable. I'm also working on making all the unlockable cars into historic F1 Cars, including Ayrton Senna's McLaren-Honda MP4-4 (1988), and probably the greatest F1 car ever built, the Mercedes-Benz W125 (1937).

In any case, this is a tangent, so to the point. I've been fiddling around with the data file and settings in an attempt to find something that works for me, my main problem is this:

Adrian Sutil, Nelson Piquet, Fisichella etc are all doing way too well, consistantly across the board, whilst people like Jenson Button and Rubens all wallow down in the 9/20 position. It seems to be individual drivers rather than teams that do this, which makes me wonder why this is so. What AI (if any) is governing individual drivers.

I know for a fact it isn't the performance of the cars that is the problem, which I edited to try and get true to life F1 results as follows:

MCLAREN 3 4 5

WILLIAMS 4 4 4

I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong. I know there are stats contained in the data file on each individual driver, but I've yet to find them have any effect.

Help?

Probably not a good time to ask, Simon is away on his honeymoon :confused: I'm sure an NSGP expert such as bazik will see this soon enough though, hang in there with us!

Thanks :redface: but i wouldn't go so far lol.
Anyway, i'm not in the forum too much now, since i now have a full time job, so...

Regarding the post:

When you say unlockable cars, do you mean those cars that can be bought?

About AI governing individual drivers: ABSOLUTELY NONE! So all AI to the car performance, comes from the teams values for Acc, Spd and Hnd!

So, give it some goes, maybe Brawn just got unlucky in the first few races, recheck the stats in you db!
Have you started a new season with the edited db?
Did you place the db in the correct spot?

Those wacky results are from the CAREER? because quick race uses another db.

I think this is all the help i can give right now.

Also, what influence does the qualifying time stat have upon the drivers, and how would one go about programing it?

its a separate file, your database for your mod are inside the mod folded, and the others are not. Quickrace db's and main db are somewhere else, namely in the Database folder and save folder
Just dont test using quickrace, you will be fine

That is a STAT, like you say, not a variable that you adjust or "program", you dont "program" a thing in there, that's just for the game to store the qualifying time (not 100% sure, but close), like i said before, the only thing that affects the times are those 3 values for each team, ACC, SPEED and HANDLING!
