Hi all, Remember that idea of mine for a Mod with the top 20 Legends of F1 (http://www.newstarsoccer.com/newstarforum/showthread.php?t=9369)?

Well at the time i posted that idea, i thought i couldn't make a mod on my own, so i tried with no success to convince someone to pick up that idea, but now that i successfully made my own 2009 mod (http://www.newstarsoccer.com/newstarforum/showthread.php?t=9399) (people seem to like it and use it, and i'm proud of the result), i think i can pick up my own idea.

I just had a problem, picking the top 20 legends... that was an impossible task, i tried, i red countless web pages, but consensus was very hard to find, and when i picked 20, i always left out some that were trully great also.
I tried to use the drivers with most championship wins, but there are some great names, that can be correctly named LEGENDS that never won the title, names like Stirling Moss and Gilles Villeneuve. And even for the ones who actually won the title, i couldn't fit all in 20 places, so i complied a list of all drivers who won a championship title, plus the ones that came in 2nd, and to my delight they were only 48. It was easy to just take 8 and make 2 mods. So here it is.

My apologies to: José Froilán González, Tony Brooks, Clay Regazzoni, Heinz-Harald Frentzen, Didier Pironi, Michele Alboreto, Wolfgang Graf Berghe von Trips and Eddie Irvine, the 8 drivers that finished runner up in a championship and just didn't make my top 40.

STATUS:

13 May 09: Now this is still a work in progress, NOTHING is done appart from the team/driver/car selection. And as you can see, this will be A LOT of work, so be patient :)

15 May 09: Some Cars were changed, teams were rearranged to get the maximum of same team drivers on the same team.
This one is going to be very detailed ;) i just finished collecting pictures to base my cars from part one, "GP Legends I", and i ended up with more than 400 pictures and even blueprints of most of the cars, just to get the right shape view from above, and right colors and liveries.
I'll now start on "GP Legends I", i think i will only get started on GP Legends II once I is finished.

25 May 09: New Job, mod will continue at very slow pace :/

Work is progressing slowly, as each car has a quite different shape, but its going. I also intend to make the classic tracks with the original shapes (if someone is interested there is a site that has all the tracks ever used, and the circuit variations thought the time, very useful for me, since i want to be accurate. (http://www.allf1.info/tracks/ if anyone needs)

But i decided to post 2 samples of the car art to let you know how things are going :)

Wow, could cars like the grey one go fast? They look... weird.

indeed, i was shocked when i saw the stats on these ancient cars.

http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/car/362/Mercedes-Benz-W196.html
the gray one:

290 horse power
Top Speed 300 km/h / 186 mph.

the alfa romeo (red one):

350 horse power
Top speed of 290 km/h / 180 mph

Impressive!

I have something that might help!

Im making miniatures of the f1 cars (kind like the line up of the legends you have there) and has kind of the same feeling as the top view of the cars used on the game.

thanks for the link cronnot :)

Anyway, i have some bad news, the mod will continue, but at a very slow pace, the reason for this is not at all bad, at least not for me, i was looking for a job, and i got it, so right now my focus will shift, this project can't be my priority right now, but for sure i will finish it!
