It's a bit like Touring Cars except they race mostly on oval circuits with no real corners and yet still manage to have huge crashes which keeps the fans happy. It's pretty boring IMO.

yeah, Nascar doesnt sit well with Europeans, its just too boring, most circuits are just ovals, the driving skills to drive in nascar are quite different from Formula 1.

The driving skills could be described as different, yes. Or you could use "non-existent" :P

I find it's like the motor equivalent of cycling at a velodrome- lots of competitors bunched together, keeping their powder dry, ready to attack at the right moments.

Unfortunately I'm not a fan either, but at least I'm not flaming!

I'll admit it. I love the nascar. Yes some tracks are really boring but some of the races are exciting (you have to see it live to appreciate it). I am also one of the few american F1 fanatics (I even have a seiko honda F1 watch...).

PS. Nascar does require some driving skills. Look at the list of open wheel champions who where embarrassed last year. Too bad we allowed JPM to race in Nascar (I have hated that guy since his F1 days....).

As skills go: I bet you're all more likely to finish an F1 race than a nascar race :P

You can count me as a NASCAR fan.

Most of the tracks (http://www.nascar.com/races/tracks/) are ovals, but there are a few F1-flavored tracks (but no hairpins), such as Watkins Glen, Sonoma, and this year they're racing at Montreal.

it does require skills, but like i said they are quite different, that explains why some F1 drivers don't succeed in Nascar, but Nascar drivers in F1, that would be even harder to adapt. Btw, did that happend? any Nascar driver that went to F1?

Everything requires skills... even the most absurd things (not that I consider Nascar such, of course), given enough interest, will generate people who will put in a lot of talent and hard work to be easily better than any newcomers to the sport.
