My old computer died yesterday (it was an old dell laptop) and I got a new asus with a 9300 graphics card and now I can hardly play NSGP. It stutters like mad. I forced vsync off and it didn't fix it. Any advice?

Installed new graphics card and even forced off Vsync. Still no luck! It sutters bad when I use the medium or above cam.

Definitely read this thread. I also have a pretty high spec PC, and generally NSGP runs well.
Despite that though, I always get significant slow downs when seemingly minor background tasks are done - web browser running at the same time as playing, mail check reminding me of an email, program changing the desktop picture everyhour, etc. My advice is definitely take a look at what you have running, and consider closing down as much unnecessary software as you can.

There will be some performance improvements in v1.05, so watch out for that next week.

I have two machines, one with high specs running XP, and and older one which runs Windows 2000, and the game runs more smoothly on the older machine. The older machine has anti-virus running, the newer one does not.
I listed my newer machine's specs in another thread (full-screen problem thread). I'll list the older one's here:
Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4
Athlon 64 3200+
1GB RAM
GeForce 8500GT
My W2000 machine runs the game smoothly, my XP machine gives a very slight, but noticable, stutter every two or three seconds. I have my system very streamlined, nothing demanding that I know of is running in the background (although it does seem like that could be causing this problem). All drivers are updated, and I've adjusted my video settings to highest performance (my frame rates are through the roof), but I still get the little hitch every few seconds.

Oddly my Asus X50SL (Intel Pentium Dual Core T3200 2.0ghz, ATI Mobility Radeon HD3470 256mb, 3gb DDR2 RAM) doesn't stutter at all and your graphics card is better

If you're running Vista, I can whole-heartedly recommend turning of indexing on your hard drive to improve NSGP performance. This removes a very pointless background task that Vista runs. Although put in to try to speed up searching on your pc (how often do you do this?) indexing is one of the main causes of system slow down on Vista PCs.
Start > Computer > right click on hard drive (eg. OS (C:)) and select properties > untick "Index this drive for faster searching"
Voila!
