View Full Version : Brazilian translation

I'd applied for translator for Brazilian Portuguese and since I got no answer from the other translators, Si told me to start over. I've just finished translating the Newspaper part, and since I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow, here's what I've done. If by the time I come back (late january) there's still work to do, I'd be very happy to help
I had one main problem with the translation. In portuguese, nouns and adjectives can be male or female. So some senteces will probably sound weird. For example: the sentece John from (country) could be
John do Brasil
John da Argentina
John de Aruba
Other languages have the same problem, could someone find a solution?

Nice work Martin. I don't think there is a solution to that problem unless you can be creative with the sentence in some way...
Enjoy your vacation. :)

Hey,
I'm back from vacations and ready to continue translating. As I can see, nothing else has been translated while I was away.
Si, which language code should I use?

Just use 'br'. I don't think we'll be getting a Breton translator. :)

Finally got some time (and patience) to finish the second part! Whew! There it go!
I've made Archievements and Help, and the Newspaper part is from Martin (posted on this topic), with some minor corrections. Saw some mistakes on the cvs file while was translating the help, so there is the update. Will try to do Incidents ASAP.
P.S. - Never know where I should put those files... so I'm going to put here by now :P

Finally I finished it!!!
Sending the incidents, Siread, and also the csv file (again, in a txt file with just the brazilian portuguese), that had some errors that I spotted when playing the 4.05 beta version.
As I said in the portuguese topic, the help and newspaper files had problems with some caracters, like ç, and letters with ´, `, ~, and ^. Tell me what should I do to fix it.
Is there anything else missing?

Try saving the files as UTF-8 with these characters, then see if they work ok in the game.
Thanks for this, I'll add it to the next version of the game. :)

There are the files on UTF-8, but I'll still test it at home. Thanks!

You can still use "ortographic correction" on Word. LOL!

Hey Si, that solved the problem! I think Brazilian Portuguese is all done now! =D
Can you create the BLD file, so I can test the changes I made on the csv?
Thanks!

Had problems with the incident files. Evo, probably you'll have the same.
Changed all to UTF-8 and they were messed on the game. Have to change the header to:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
Think its 100% now (hope so :P )

Hey Si, in NSS4.06, you used some old files mine, and the help is all messy. Please use this one in the next release:

For the incidents, use that (didn't check if they're wrong):
