Crash at end of match - tackle

I'm getting a crash at the end of matches. This only happens when I make a tackle that coincides with the final whistle. The sounds continues but the screen freezes. This has only happened twice but could be because the tackle / whistle combination doesn't happen all the time.

I'm running Vista / NVidea 7900GS / 3GB ram

Actually it was a coincedence that I was tackling as it's since crashed a couple of times without tackling. It occasionally freezes at the end of matches.

If it happens a lot could you run the game in DebugMode for a while (edit Settings.ini). Then when it crashes send me the .log file that can be found in C:\Program Files\New Star Soccer 4. Thanks.

This has happened to me twice, both of which matches I got booked in. It's a rarity, but I'll try my best to capture it.

This happens every time I play the game. It's usually fine for about 5-6 matches, then it will just freeze after the final whistle, exactly as described above.

I haven't noticed any pattern as to what might cause it though. I'll also try the debug mode if it will help.

I saw something different. The game is over and the after-match panel is being loaded (the game freezes for a while). And instead after-match panel there appears a panel like in the half-time. When I want to exit the panel, 3rd half (!) begins (but at the top of the screen "Half 2" is written), but after kick-off and a few seconds (in about 91 or 92 minute) once again a screen of half-time appears, and so on and so on. I have to click "skip action" - then a half-time panel turns into after-match panel :)

I'm bumping this because it's happening to me, and the problem seems to be getting a yellow card when you've already got one from another match, which means you'd get a one-match ban. I hear a 'new message' sound just before the game hangs too.

I can try running it in debug mode too, but I believe that's what the problem is, as it's only happened when I've got a yellow card in a game and I'm under threat of suspension.

Nothing suspicious I can see, to be honest. The same thing happened, this time I deliberately got booked to see if the game would crash, and it did.

Yeah, im getting the same problem with the game freezing when the final whistle blows. However it does not seem to make a difference whether or not i have been booked. You'd understand that this gets a bit frustrating after i have just beaten chelsea in the FA Cup final, and then i have to restart the game and do it over again.

Yeah update to my original post is that if I get a yellow card the game freezes at the end of the match. I've been getting around it by playing till the 88th minute then skipping the rest of the match (if I remember!)

It's still present in 4.092 - the game crashes if the player is about to receive a one-match ban for picking up another yellow card during the match. At full time, the game hangs.

It is the very first time it happens and always ranging from min 75 to min 90 after any kind of event that may stop the match (Goal Kick, Throw ins, Corner Kicks, etc) :wall:

I just had my game freeze on me at the final whistle when I had picked up a yellow card in the game and got a one match ban.

But I tapped space and escape repeatedly and the the screen shifted to another part of the pitch, then eventually went to the end of game screen (after about ten seconds or so, I wasn't banging my keyboard for half and hour or something, lol).

Don't know if this would help anyone in this thread problem but it worked for me.

I also have the same problem on version 4.11.
I can't confirm that it occurs only when I got a yellow card, as I didn't really pay attention to that. But for sure this was the case the last time the game has freezed.
If I look at Windows task manager when the problem occurs, I can see that the game is using up to 75% of CPU (on a core2 duo e6750).

This is really annoying, especially when I have played well against a strong team :(

Could it be occurring when you get an Achievement? Man of the Match, First Goal, Clean Sheet, Cup Win etc? Normally you hear a little sound at the end of the match when you get an achievement.

Also, are you connected to the internet whilst playing?

Don't know, I usually turn off the game sound, as I listen to MP3s while playing. However I already got several achievements without game freeze. Anyway, I'll check if I hear this little sound.
And yes, I am connected to the internet while playing.

More information on this problem:
I have played the same match 4 times (tested on v4.12)
- 2 times I got a yellow card during the match, the game freezed at the end and I heared the little sound
- 2 times I did not get a yellow card, the game did not freeze and I did not hear the little sound

As TheHornedOrc has noticed, when the freeze occurs, pressing escape several times make the end of game screen to appear. So it is still possible to quit the match.
I have then noticed that I did not receive any new news message, as it should normally be the case when the little sound is heared at the end of the match.

For the high CPU usage, it is actually not related to the game freeze. It occurs when the game is started in full screen and lose the focus (e.g. press alt+tab). When the game has the focus, CPU usage is reasonably low (~5% in the menu). This is not the case if the game is started in windowed mode.

I played again the same match, and this time I got a new achievement (first hattrick B) ), and have not been booked => the game did not freeze.

Masklinn has exactly what I've had- and it's happened to me several times because I get booked several times- a consequence of having the 'head the ball' and 'tackle' button be one and the same, so if I miss a header, I usually tackle the nearest thing to me, resulting in a booking ;)

The notification sound plays just as the game freezes. My workaround has been, if I get booked, to escape the match at 89 minutes and let the rest of it play out. That way, I don't miss much action, and I don't get any game freezes.

Crashes crashes....So, I'll just hijack this thread, since it's pretty much the same problem I'm having. So, nearly every time I'm playing a match, and the game clock hits 90 min, the game crashes. It just shows an error screen (nss2010.exe has encountered an error and must close) and there are those buttons that to send or not to send the thingies :)

And this happens on both my laptop and my desktop computers. I've tried shutting off my firewall, but no avail. Is there anything to be done, since the game is quite unplayable right now.

I purchased this game from Gamersgate, but their customer support is a bit..slow..

Funny thing is, that the crashed happen every time when the match is over (ref whistles). Not any other time..

And my computers should be up to bar, since I can play Fallout 3 in full detail. And both of my machines are dual core thingies, if that info is needed. And I have the newest version of the game...

So, anything?

I've started hitting escape at the 89th minute and skipping the rest of the action, it seems to work.

BUT, the game crashed first time away from the match, it crashed when I was signing a full-time contract..

So could it be related to those achievements?

And, I recall being able to play the game without any workarounds some time ago, I think I was online while playing. Do we need to be online to play?

there's abslolutely NO need to be online to play, your system may have some problem related to internet connection

I think your game is trying to access the NSS Online Leaderboards, and it crashes at the end of match when trying to send your data to the server.

I don't know any way to disable the leaderboards though. Quite odd. :confused:

EDIT: Or maybe it's trying to update NSS' Twitter, you can try un-checking it at the options screen...
