Ok, this hasn't been confirmed by everyone yet but some people who were having problems seeing text have solved it with the method below.

First find out your graphics card model:
Click Start and choose Control Panel then System > Device Manager. Under Display Adapter you will see your graphics card details.

If you have one of the following graphics cards:
Mobile Intel(R) 945 Express Chipset Family
Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family

Go here to download your latest driver:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx?lang=eng#
Click Graphics on the left, then choose your graphics controller and follow the instructions.

When you have downloaded it, do the following:

1. Start > Control Panel > System > Device manager
2. Open Display Adapters
3. Right click your graphics card and choose Uninstall
4. Reboot your PC.
5. Run the driver that you downloaded and install it.
6. Reboot when prompted.

Then let us know in here if it worked for you. :)

I've got a "32MB NVIDIA GeForce2 MX with TV Out (Dell)", not an Intel onboard Chipset, and am still getting the blocky and sometimes unreadable screens when before a match, during pausing a match, and afterwards the screen is veiled in black - the playing screen is fine.
If anyone could help me I would be grateful

Just try to download the latest drivers to your NVIDIA card.
Try the same thing we've been talking here but using NVIDIA drivers

People if you don't have a problem with blocky text nor a Intel card, don't post here asking for assistance, open up a new thread or post in a thread that fits you. However, ATI users that can't launch the game please see http://www.newstarsoccer.com/newstarforum/showthread.php?t=8828

In that case, go to Dell's website and look for drivers for your laptop.

I did that, but I have the latest driver already.

So after updating your driver do you still have blocky text?

You won't need to uninstall the driver unless it has caused issues in other games, but I don't know what else to suggest to fix it. Most people have had success with the method I posted.

My problem is that i cant update my driver because i have an error that says that the controller that is being installed isnt validated for my computer :(.
Do i need to uinstall my graphic card and install the update or i can just desactive my driver and install the update?
