View Full Version : (Mac version) Couple of wee bugs

First of all - LOVE the game. Seriously great work. Thank you!
Couple of bugs (I assume) in the Mac version of the game to report:
1. When I click the button to 'view stadium' I cannot exit the globe screen. So I am stuck watching an endless loop of the world, before CMD+Q'ing to quit restart the game.
2. (this one is currently stopping me from playing) I somewhat impulsively unticked the 'globe' option in the game settings. This resulted in the game crashing after a couple of seconds. More seriously, however I now cannot load the save game that I was playing; it too causes the game to crash whilst loading.
I have attached the log files ('Problem Details' and 'System Configuration') in a zip for your attention.
Any ideas? Is my budding career on loan to Cambridge United over? Say it aint so...

Have the same problem after untick the "Globe" option.
Can't load the game. Please help!
Okay, no expert here but if you have harddrives on macs (yes, I know that little about them ) then go to C:\Program Files\New Star Soccer 4\Settings\Settings.ini and change cGlobeActive=0 to cGlobeActive=1, that may work?

Good idea!
The file is actually located in [Username]/Documents/New Star Soccer 4/Settings on the Mac.
Unfortunately the settings.ini file does not include the cGlobeActive line. I added it in to test, but no dice...
I think the globe setting is embedded in the [SaveGame].db file, but I have no way of reading or editing this file.
Any other ideas?
Steven
Must be different for the Mac, it's the first line the file on the PC  Any ideas Si?

I have the exact same problems.
You can fix the crash by going into your terminal and writing:
sqlite3 ~/Documents/New\ Star\ Soccer\ 4/Save/NAME_OF_SAVE.db
update gameoptions set spare1 = 1;
.quit

Impressive! You're gooood...
Worked as prescribed (and got me reacquainted with sqlite, to boot).
If anyone else is trying this, I suggest copy'n'pasting the syntax, rather than typing it in; I came a little unstuck where I thought I had read 'sparel' instead of 'spare1'. Doh.
Thanks again!

I can confirm that the 'View Stadium' function does the same thing for me. It goes on endless loop and there is no function to return to the game apart from completely quitting the application.

Antonio, please zip and send me your save file. Regarding the globe problems, this will be fixed in the update. Thanks for that fix Hassing. Nice work. :)

i have the same problem, PLUS i have some problems during the match...
basically i cant see the "play" "instant replay" "help" or "skip match" icon when i go to the game screen AND my cursor dissapears...this isnt too much of a problem as they still highlight when i run my mouse over the area the icons WOULD be (if that makes sense?)..however i still cant skip the match (the screen like freezes until i press the esc. button) and when i try to swap shirts at the end of the game the game just freezes and i have to quit the game altogether...what can i do?

From the desktop (when no other applications are open) click the menu in the top-left. There is an option to check for MacOS updates.

I have the exact same problem. Those buttons doesn't show. You can still skip action with the enter-key on your keyboard from the skip action screen. It took me a while to figure it out. Unshown buttons were also on my player profile screen after I made a loan contract to a different country. All menus (home, practice, team profile, etc.) disappeared while the menu was selected.
My mac os x version is 10.5.4. I have tweaked my Intel GMA X3100 graphics card drivers to be similar than Mac Os X 10.5.2 drivers with instructions found on the following page:
http://70.181.80.166:82/blog/archives/2008/07/mac-os-10531054-nvidia-256-colors.html
The reason for this was to make my Fallout game work again. Mac Os X 10.5.4 update removed 256 colors support from the operating system and I needed it back.

This is a tricky one. Another user contacted me recently and had the same problem. After doing an Apple update the problem was resolved. I'll have another look at the Mac build to see if I can pinpoint what causes the problem though.
