Right, I think we're about ready to start translating NSS4!

Please find the attached translation pack. This contains all the English text files that need to be translated into your language. There is a detailed instruction file inside the zip. Please read it carefully.

- There are a lot of files and A LOT of text to edit, so it may take you some time. Try not to rush as mistakes can be difficult to find and may even cause the game to crash.

- Please make sure that you do not edit the tags or modifiers inside the text. If you see a $ sign or a / slash then you should not edit that text. Please read the instructions for more details.

- If there is more than 1 editor for each language then GREAT! You can split the work between you and verify each others work.

- If you start and feel you cannot go on any longer, please just send us the work you have completed and we will try to find someone else to complete the work.

Some of you may have already translated the earlier csv file. You will notice that the new file is in alphabetical order and will be different to your existing translation. Please send your existing file to me and I will re-arrange it so that it is in the same order as the new file. This will save you having to translate the same text all over again.

RakNet will be assisting with the translation project, so please contact him or I if you have any queries. Fab will hopefully be back on the scene as well. :)

Thanks,
Simon

SOME ADDITIONAL INFO

Unicode languages
If your language uses non-Latin letters then you will need to save your txt files as UTF-8. You can do this in Notepad with Save As.

The incident xml files need to have encoding="UTF-8" in the first line. Also open them in Notepad and Save As UTF-8.

The BLF Builder now supports TEXT file import so in Excel save your csv file as a Unicode .txt file. Then open it in Notepad and Save As... UTF-8. Then import into BLF Builder. You can just send the files to though as I will have to go through this procedure anyway.

If you not saving as Unicode you need to replace all commas ( , ) with semi-colons ( ; ) in your csv file. This is because the BLFBuilder interprets commas as the end of a field then goes onto the next tag. If there are commas in the csv then the Builder will crash or corrupt the blf file.

If you are using excel click Ctrl+H. Then replace , with ; and click Replace All.

When the blf builder loads your translation file it will put back all the commas.

Also, the Tag "NationId" in the NSS4TransFile should be your country id number. You can find out the id number here:

I have hard time coz in Finnish we put letters (case) in the end of a word to compensate prepositions. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnish_language_noun_cases

Auto=a car; autossa=in a car; autosta=from a car and so on.. So it's kinda difficult with the dollar $ sign when there's something that needs a Finnish case.. Any solving made? I heard Turkish has it also? Or then I just need to fix and add a lot the basic shape phrases after the dollar or the slash marks.
Don't try to learn Finnish ;)

attached is the Excel-file with my German translation. Can you include this to the new file please ?

Or shall I export my translation in a csv-file first ?

If there is something like this...

"He drove his $vehicle."

The game might change it to:

"He drove his helicopter." Or "He drove his car."

When you translate you are able to do something like this:

"He drove $vehiclesta." (In Finnish) It will change $vehicle to helicopter and add sta to the end ie "He drove helicoptersta."

Does that help? The only problem is the vehicle will be chosen at random by the game, so I don't know if that will affect your translation.

Similar here :)

ev = house
evi = *points the house*
eve = to house
evde = at house
evden = from house

Quite hard to fit these $ variables but I got used to it as I have some experience with programming, that's not much problem to me ;)

Bulgarian translation is done at 99%. The tricky thing is this 1 percent.
I have problems with NSSTransFile too. When import it all that I've done to the .txt file goes unreadable.

Then I start directly with BLFBuilder.exe but the program didn't work well when I add Bulgarian as a second language. Because of this, I've translate directly over the English language.

The real problem here is the tag column.. I goes near to the end of the file and accidentally edit wrong the shortenings................... :wall:

tla_Tackles becomes Tck
tla_tackles becomes tck

oops :doh: :) When I saved, the BLFBuilder can't open it anymore. The game crashes too.. I don't have a backup.. :(

..and can't correct it too.... So Si, I need your help.

pls restore the tag column and give me the file back. It need some other redactions. :)

I've used polite form. The translation is logical, full and really good in my opinion. There is some problems with the scripting. Bulgarian is an inflected language.. The word order and structure is very different and some sentences goes wrong anyhow I wrote them. Whatever, this isn't a big deal at all. ;)

Thanks in advance.

P.S: Vry good game Si. VRY good!!! :dance: :clap:

b3g1nn3r, just re-install the game to get back the original blf file.

I remembered a vital point with regards to the CSV file. You need to replace all commas ( , ) with semi-colons ( ; ). This is because the BLFBuilder interprets commas as the end of a field then goes onto the next tag. If there are commas in the csv then the Builder will crash or corrupt the blf file.

If you are using excel click Ctrl+H. Then replace , with ; and click Replace All. (See attached.)

When the blf builder loads your translation file it will put back all the commas. :)

Another point to mention. The Tag "NationId" should be your countries database id number. You can find out the id number here:

Edit: I have written the id but builder always crash

I have tried some times. The only csv file that works is the original that is in the .zip, but that file presents all "," and not ";", another thing is that it don't has any number id in the cell

You still have your csv and text files right? Why would a corrupt blf lose your translation files? Just copy your Bulgarian Excel column back into the original NSSTransFile and recreate the blf. Or send me your translation files. siread@newstarsoccer.com

Should I download the 4.01 translation file or is there a 4.03 file? I couldn't find it.

There isn't a 4.03 file, but I will upload one. There are only a few minor changes in the Incidents folder anyway, so you can use the 4.01 file. :)

4.03 files added to the first post. If you have not translated the Incidents folder, then please use the one in the 4.03 zip. Everything else is the same as 4.01. :)

Made the csv part of Brazilian Portuguese. However, I'm having a little of trouble of making it into de csv file (some problems with the commas in english and other language texts, whats causing some mess), and I didn't even tried to transform it with BLFBuilder :redface: So I'm sending the pt-br column (called br as said in this post, because there isn't a pt-br) in a txt file, I think just copy and pasting on excel will do the trick. Tell me if you have any problems

I'll work on the other text files now :dance:

I'm finally back after being away far too long. I've struggled alot with crappy computers and lack of motivation, but I am still keen on giving the danish translation a go.

could someone explain to me how I should go about this? Use some builder ? where is the translation file?

Cheers.

edit: nevermind about the file. I seem to have found the file (with about 60% translation done) on an old drive :)
