Anyone,
I have no sound what so ever in the game (obviously checked speakers, wired etc. and sound is fine in all other applications). Sounds has not worked through any of the previous Betas either.
I am running a Sound Blaster Live! 24 bit card
Rest of it is as follows if it might help:
Pentium 4 2.4Ghz
2GB ram
Nvidia 7300 GT graphics with 512mb
Windows XP
Great game, even when silent! Wil definately buy if the sounds problem can be sorted.
NB. Have searched forum and not found an answer elsewhere

Just to confirm, when you run NSS4 in window mode are you able to hear sounds from other applications (mp3s maybe)?

Si,
I have checked in both windowed and full screen and there are no sounds however I can hear sounds from other applications playing. I have reinstalled but without success and as mentioned this has been the same with all the previous demos too.
I have bought the game now by the way. Still money well spent but would be nice to enjoy the game in full with sounds.

Can you see OpenAL32.dll and wrap_oal.dll in the main folder? If so, try deleting them, then start the game.

Hi there!
When you run NSS4 in window mode can you hear other sounds from your PC?

This happened to me too, but I found a kludge fix. I was playing the game in a window, and heard the external windows sounds, but no NSS4 sound. I put the game in full screen mode, and then tried the Horse Racing. Suddenly I had sound for the entire game. Maybe my system just had a kink in it.

I hear the sound in the main menu, but during the match I hear only sound of refree.

Please check your settings before starting a match ;)

My problem is sorted. I had to play around with my sound card settings. Works fine now.

I'm bumping this thread up because I have the same sound problems, and going to the horse racing section seems to be the only way to get them back for matches. The menu music is there, but the sounds in a match sometimes just aren't. And if they go, they're gone until I get to that horse racing!
I've largely been playing with the overhead view (vertical), and I've checked my sound settings and everything else seems to work fine on my computer- I can play mp3s at the same time, etc.
I'm using Realtek AC97 Audio, if that makes sense to anyone. It doesn't to me...

You could try updating your sound card drivers:

I...could try that, couldn't I?
It worked! :)
Don't feel too bad, Windows Update is known to overwrite AC97 drivers with useless ones (I think it uses C-media AC97 instead of Realtek AC97..) so that may have contributed.
