Hi,
I am having trouble putting in my license key and getting it to accept it.
The message comes up:
"Please make sure you are connected to the internet to register your player name. If you are connected to the internet make sure your firewall is not blocking NSS4.exe"
The firewall is not blocking it and I am connected to the internet. Anybody able to help?
Thanks, Sam

Hi there!
Do you have any security programs installed? If so, please disable them and re-enter you license ;)

If you have Panda Global Protection 2009 installed disable the firewall. Even though it asked me if I wanted to let NSS4 access the internet and I accepted, it wouldn't let me activate.

Are you still having problems? The site was very busy last night. If you still cannot put the license key in please answer the following questions...
What version of windows do you have?
What firewall software are you using?

Hi there, i've got it working now. I am on a university network so that must have been why it wasn't working. I just joined another network at the uni and it has now let me put it in. Thanks for the help, Sam

This is very annoying now. I just went up to a place where I could register the game without the network not allowing me to and now I am back in my room it is asking me to put in the license key again, and it won't work... Why is this? Please help!
Thanks, Sam

You mean you registered in 2 different places? you have to register in every place where you use NSS4 even if you carry the save games with you.

This was on the same computer though. I can't register on this because it says "Please make sure you are connected to the internet. If you are connected to the internet see if your firewall is blocking it". I have done this and still won't let me register.

hello
11-09-2008, 01:45 PM
I started a new game this week, and all went well. I know tried loading up the game, but it said it must connect to the internet. I added nss4.exe to the exception lists but NSS4 still could not connect to the internet.
So I tried a new game, and the game instantly crashed. I went to my ini file and changed debugmode=1.
I tried a new game again and it crashed. From the NSS4.log:
DeleteAbandonedSaveFile
SetUpScreen_StartGame
ShowGlobeEntities:3
GlobeShown
Loading image: Media/Backgrounds/Splash1.jpg
Image loaded
Start Main Loop
Sound loaded
ScreenMessage: New Star Soccer 4 - Credits
This version: 0.96
Current version: 4.0
My computer definitely can handle NSS4;
1GB RAM
X1950 PRO 512MB GDDR3
3Ghz PIV
Thanks in advance.
PS: I've got the latest drivers.

I take it that X1950 PRO 512MB GDDR3 is your graphics card, a Radeon X1950 PRO with 512mb of memory (GDDR3)?

That's a file created by NSS4 while it is accessing the new save game and creating it. I suggest you ignore Avast though and click No Action.

Hi there!
First of all, there are a few users who experienced, not only you ;) Please disable all security programs that are installed on your PC or at least add "NSS4.exe" to whitelist. If you're running on Vista, please be sure that you've installed the game as admin and you're running it as admin also. And please try registering a few times more if you see any error messages ;)
Let us know if you still experience a problem :)

it is my computer home so i think public
I had this problem too, but in my case, it was because I installed final nss4 over nss4 beta version.
I uninstalled the game completely, with registry cleaning, then installed latest version and after that internet connection was ok (home link, updates and registration).

Hello all,
I have purchased NSS4 recently.
When I have no firewalls running (I close kaspersky & windows firewall), I cannot register. :wall:
I get the warning: "Please make sure you are connected to internet, If you are connected to the internet please make sure your firewall is not blocking NSS4.exe"
I tried everything I can, is there anyone to help?

Can you try disabling all security programs? (right click on Kaspersky icon in the system tray and press exit)
By the way, if you're using Windows Vista please run the game with administrator rights ;)

I am on a corporate network and cannot register. Why does NSS4 use a port other than 80 (which is always open)? While I am a system/domain admin, I don't control the network equipment, so I can't open other ports. Is there a way to tell NSS to strictly use port 80 to connect to whatever Internet server it needs to?

Yes, you need to have an open connection to get your NSS4 license activated. There are some issues with this activation method but this will be fixed on next update ;)

It probably does go out port 80, but I have to go through a proxy server here. Can you set NSS4 to look in the registry to see if a proxy has been set and use that if it has? Or, hand-editing of a config file would work fine for the 1% of us (or .01%, maybe) that can use this on a machine that has to go through a proxy server. This hand edit can either consist of a check for a proxy server (recommended as a lot of Windows environments are given the proxy server via DHCP and the user can't see it) or an entry for the server.
Btw, this is an awesome game. Using kb or kb/mouse controls are tricky, but it still looks good and is fun.

If you explore the contents of the NSS4 app you can go to Settings/Engine.ini. In there you can set a proxy. See if that helps.
