NSS4 not starting

when i click on the NSS 4 icon on my desk top the screen comes up asking you your country and if you wont full screen or what.when you click on OK it gose away a black screen comes up then it shut its self down back to my desk top.

Please help i know there's probly other people with problem too but please help cause i dont wont to waste money on a game i dont even get to play cheers

Don't know specs, but I know the computer can handle 3d graphics and FM08s database, so would think there's no problem with the specs.
Not running as an admin
Haven't tried the demo or other versions, this is my first attempt at loading it.

You amount of RAM is a bit low to run such 3D game. Even WinXP recommends a 256MB RAM to run :rolleyes:

edit: If you're using Vista it should be on second tab, if you're using XP or older version of Windows it should be on 3rd tab ;)

Had a look for your graphs card online. It seems quite old for such 3D game and it seems no longer supported by ATI. Probably you'll need to get a new graphs card ;)

It seems your graphics card is not capable to run NSS4. (It's a known issue that SiS cards are incompatible) But there's one last thing we can do. Can you try running game at 16bits and low details?

Please disable all security programs that are running in the background, and then try reinstalling game as the installer didn't create a necessary folder ;)

Screen goes black, screen fades to white, screen fades to black, sounds start to play then it pops up saying NSS4 has a problem and has to close.

Did you installed the game as administrator and are you running the game as administrator?

It seems your graphs card might cause problems? How much memory does it have? Also did you update your drivers?

Your graphics card will not be powerful enough to run this game as it has no Pixel Shader support (I tested NSS4 in a GeForce 4 MX440). Hopefully Si will fix compatibility issues. Sorry :(

Don't worry, Si is working hard to wipe all compatibility errors away. Maybe he'll add an option for low-class gfx cards. ;) But probably you'll need to get a new graphics card to play 3D games :)

just wanted to let you all know that i have had similar problems with the game not starting but i have now managed to get it up and running by changing my screen resolution (outside the game) to 1280 X 800, i then start the game with the following options

resolution 1024 X 768 32 bit 60hz
screen window
detail low

What 3D game have you played recently? Age of Mythology? Your graphs card is a 6 years old motherboard integrated chip (World's first Integrated Graphics Processor for Mobile Intel® Pentium® 4 says ATI website) so it's OK to have problems on latest releases. ;)

Can you please give details about your system specs? (We need your CPU, RAM, graphs card and Operating System info)

To find out your system info please do as following:
* Click on "start" button and then click on "run"
* Type "dxdiag" into "Run" dialogue
* Provide the info that you see on first tab and the third tab (if you're using vista, should be second tab)

- New green background screen loads for a second, that screens seems to be the main menu where you create a new game (it disappears too fast to see it exactly).

Issue fixed for me. I was running a dual screen setup, as soon as i disabled one of the monitors, the game loaded, so the problem could be related to dual screen setups, at least it was for me.

Yes i did, but it did not solve the problem. I also downloaded the update the Si posted just above, but the game still does not open. I tried running it on another computer, and it did work, however it ran very slow because the computer wasn't too great.

Also, seeing as this is actually my school's laptop (i practically own it, just have to hand it back at the end of year 12), many of my friends own the exact same computer. 3-4 of them also tried to install and play, but we all get the same issue. I've tried everything i could, but i'm assuming there is some sort of compadability error?

Sorry, you said it was working fine before you formatted so how do you now say the "game is full of bugs" when it's obviously something YOU'VE done? Yes the game has it's glitches but it doesn't need people like you coming out with such comments when it's something YOU have done which is now stopping it from working.

If the folder is not being created in your My Docs can I ask that you uninstall NSS4, clean your registry (ccleaner or the like will do this for you) and make sure that you reinstall with admin rights.

ok, just read whole topic and don't have any idea for solution... :| was for long time out of world but at least i found some free time in which i'd like to play nss4, but it doesn't start, without any messages etc :/

Last time I got that error I was trying to access a PC on a network and had to set a password.

@Soha: Please delete every trace from the previous betas (private and public) and then try to run. Odd thing is, I have a weaker laptop than you (see my signature) and I am able to run this just fine :confused:

Edit: I had a quick glance at the topic and I noticed some sort of padron (bah, I'm not supposed to know how to write it). The people who couldn't run this game either had a Sapphire or Xpress Radeon, a GeForce 8000 series (Si also has one and he can run the game :confused:), 512MB of VRAM or a 64-bit processor. I remember some incompatibility with Radeons in the early betas and that is probably influentiating this. Everybody who can at least get to the Settings screen, please:

Go to My Docs/New Star Soccer 4/Settings
Open Settings.ini
Set debug=1
Start NSS4
Click OK on the Settings screen without changing ANYTHING
When the game crashes, please go to Program Files/New Star Soccer 4/
Open NSS4.log
Copy the last 15 lines of the file
Post them here and please wait for assistance

Could you guys try this.

Open the file: C:/Program Files/New Star Soccer 4/Settings/Engine.ini

Where it says SaveLoc=0 change it to something like SaveLoc=C:\Users\Simon\Documents\New Star Soccer 4\ (wherever you want the location of your saved game data to be stored).

Make sure you end the line with New Star Soccer 4\ and don't forget the back slash!

Then run the game. See if it creates a New Star Soccer 4 folder in you documents location. If not, try a new folder location, maybe a Public folder, or the desktop.

Did you try running the game in low quality, full screen, 800*600 16-bit resolution? Did you try sticy at top of the forum?

i try no worked i fink mybe this integrated not work for this game but im playing in my comp The Wicher and etc games and all be ok no idea...

Could you guys try this.

Open the file: C:/Program Files/New Star Soccer 4/Settings/Engine.ini

Where it says SaveLoc=0 change it to something like SaveLoc=C:\Users\Simon\Documents\New Star Soccer 4\ (wherever you want the location of your saved game data to be stored).

Make sure you end the line with New Star Soccer 4\ and don't forget the back slash!

Then run the game. See if it creates a New Star Soccer 4 folder in you documents location. If not, try a new folder location, maybe a Public folder, or the desktop.
