When playing NSS2 with version 2.12 and 2.13 about every other game in the first or second year I get this message. Access violation at 0x00456c3 (tried to read from 0x23f0030 program terminated). I am running Win XP SP2 on a p4 3.06 with 1024 mem with a GE Force 6600 card, all drivers are current. I also have norton internet security and a cable modem running at all times, the error corrupts the save file. Any help would be appreciated.

mmm in the past this has been a problem with earlier versions, I can only guess your copy has gone corrupt.
Create a new NSS folder and copy your saved game files, to that folder, then try downloading a fresh copy, move the save games files back to the NSS folder with the new install and try that.
If you are still getting the same problem give me a shout.

Thanks for the reply, downloaded a new copy and moved the save folder into it, still get the same message. I was wondering should the .nss file in the save folder oKB info in it.

The .bak file is 1198kb.
The .bak file is 1198kb.I'd recommend deleting the .nss file (or renaming it to (name).nss.cpt) and renaming the .bak file to take it's place.

I gave it a shot, it did reload but it looks like it is the first auto save as it reset the players age to 16 and wiped out season and halfs worth of stats and removed any skill gains. I would just like to know if there are any ways to avoid this as it is kind of a dice roll it seems to happen every other career.
Sometimes when I shut down the the game I will use the drop down and save as, when the game auto saves it saves in the team-player format, is it possible this is causing the corruption because only one save file shows in the load file and the game always crashes at autosave?

I'm wondering if you have a real-time virus scanner that doesn't like the file being saved. Try playing the game with real-time settings off to test it.
