What, the one consisting of players who (this is true) earn more money per week than it took to rebuild Europe after the Second World War?

Whereas, the Lisbon Lions had about the equivalent of £4 between them.

Fair comment... but then you also need to acknowledge that whilst the current Chel$ki team had a great season last year, you can't call them one of the best ever. A team needs to maintain a certain level over a number of seasons before being able to be called great.

If you didn't apply that to players, you could say Marco Negri or Michael Ricketts would qualify to be best player ever :o

Indeedy. The team has to consistantly be the best over at least 5 years. Man United of the 90's as apposed to Liverpool of the May 26th.

Best team ever for me was possibly Clough's team at Nottingham forest, the Liverpool team of the late 70's and 80's, or Manchester United in the 90's. I think I'm going to go for the Nottingham Forest team, simply for what they achieved from where they were and the sort of talent they had in their squad. Plus to set the record for games unbeaen that lasted until Arsenal beat it, that was amazing considering the team they had.

Anyone want a vote for the Crazy Gang in the 80's? rising all those leagues in straight seasons, then winning the FA cup against the best team in the land at the time Liverpool?

Chelsea this season, one year doesnt make you brilliant. Liverpool, rubbish season, just won one cup, lord knows how. You have to talk consistant success, no one of late has done that since the pre Glazier Superdevil 49ers team in the 90's.

manyoolova

The Crazy Gang were ****** ****. What they lacked in ability,(and they lacked a lot) they made up for in aggresion and making their opponents fear what would happen if the Crazy Gang lost.

Yes, is the sign of a great team not playing to your strengths and exposing the weakness of the opposition?

Was it Steve McMahon who Vinny Jones so famously hit like a ton of bricks in the FA cup final? Possibly one of the worst, yet greatest tackles I've ever seen.

Should being a thug be rewarded and should the real players become the losers?

Should being a thug be rewarded and should the real players become the losers?Quite impressive coming from someone who advocates Roy Keanes style of play!

In all seriousness, although lacking grace and elegance, the Dons side of the 80s was successful because of a great, battling, 'never-say-die' team spirit, which yes, may have bubbled over at times.

No different to the way Bolton played a few years back really!

I wouldn't have said Q.P.R. Doesn't matter anyway, I am just a little bit annoyed with all the glory hunting nowadays. In Scotland, Glory hunting is a big problem, nearly everyone supports Celtic or Rangers just because they are the best teams and not teams like Dundee, Airdie...etc.who need the money.

My team Dundee F.c were home to players such as Claudio Caniggia, Ravanelli, Temuri Ketzbaia, Georgi Nemzadze, Zurab Khizanizvilli, Nacho Novo and Beto Carranza. Last Season, we got relegated, we were cheated, Livingston fellow relegation strugglers were playing an inilgible player - Hassan Kouchal. The FIFA and SFA rules state that if a team are found guilty of playing an inilgible player, they will be deducted 3 points for every game this player has played. They were found guilty but SFA changed the rules on the day of the hearing so Dundee would stay relegated.

Now we are in the the Scottish Bells 1st Division, there will be no big names on show...well maybe Lee Wilkie. We have enough good players to get us back up though.

Edit: Another 2 names to that list of ex Dundee players - Julian Speroni and chinese superstar Fan Zhiyi

Sorry, JJU but this has to be resolved. The reason why I support Glasgow Rangers is in two parts. A). Manchester United have become Abramovic-ified and I have since decicded not do support them. B). When I went to Glasgow Uni, the main club supported was Celtic, but Rangers fans were much more pleasant and friendly. I therefore decided my alliegance is to the boys in blue.

I have lived in Scotland for 16 years(all my life) in Dundee and there is probably more Rangers(a glasgow club) supporters(well fans really because they dont go to the games) in Dundee than Dundee or Dundee United supporters.
