Please note, a newer version is now available, please see further down this topic for details

------------[old version]-------------

Right, here goes...

Here is the (early) demo of a football game i am currently developing. This is just designed to show the work in progress.

In this demo, you play as England against France, in the full version you will be able to pick any Country to play as. Its six-a-side at the moment, and you take control of Owen and Rooney (the other players can look after themselves :p). This is supposed to be an arcade-type football game, so dont expect a huge amount of realism (Yeah, like you were expecting that anyway :^o :wink: )

What will be changed/improved for the full version?

* Select Team
* World Cup/Some form of knockout competition
* Improved graphics (They are somewhat basic at the moment)
* Improved AI (Especially the goalkeepers)
* Possibly made into 11-a-side
* Match will have a time limit, rather than being first to five.
* Made more obvious which of the two strikers you are currently controlling
* Sound Added

Controls

<Mouse> Control direction of player
"W" - Run in that direction
"A" - Move shooting target up
"D" - Move shooting target down
<Space> - Shoot
"S" - Change between strikers (press hard)
<F1> - Display Game Info/Controls
<F4> - Change between Windowed and Full screen mode
<Enter> - Emergency ball re-set (for if ball gets stuck somehow, it will reset anyway though if it stays still for more than a couple of seconds or so.)
<Esc> - Quit

As i say, this is only an early demo to show the work in progress, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

As i say, these will be improved (especially the pitch and the goals) once ive got the gameplay sorted :P

i like it but not too keen on the keys, maybe the cursor keys would be easier.

Good work Chester Guy, but as Jay-Jay sayed, the cursors keys would really help. Also maybe the field could be a little greater, so I get no more players of my own team getting me mad (that Gerrard...). Maybe just a little change, but the ball could be a little smaller (though it's fun to see a ball bigger than the players head :lol: ). Don't misunderstand me, I really liked the demo version, and am looking forward to the full version. 8-[ =D>

Yes, ive been considering making the pitch bigger, as at the moment there isnt a huge amount of space to run with the ball when it comes to you, so you'll probably notice its alot easier to just shoot from anywhere at the moment, so yeahi probably will make it bigger.

Also about the keys, I can easily make them the same but with the curser keys so what was:

"W" would equal <up>
"A" would equal <left>
"D" would equal <right>
"S" would equal <down>/ another key if that would be simpler.

That can easily be done.

If people mean move to just curser keys instead of mouse conrol for which way your going, this will be abit more tricky... it can be done, but it would put the player at a distinct disadvantage because the other players would be able to movedirectly to the ball at an angle, whereas you would be confined with moving just left, right, up and down, which would mean you'd be easily tackled and usually beaten to the ball. I suppose if people think that would be easier though i could make it an option when you start the game to choose which controls you, the player, want?(mouse for direction or just direction keys)

Strange... Have you unzipped it? :?

Thanks for trying it everyone :D

Here is the second demo, which has:

* Enlarged the pitch
* Improved keeper AI so they will attempt to block the ball
* Improved the opposition strikers AI so they will sometimes run with the ball (in the direction of the correct goal!)
* Changed the colour of the text above the player you are controlling, so if you are controlling Owen, his name will appear in gold, which makes it easier to pick him out.

I'm having a few problems with converting the controls to arrow keys, but i'm working on it so hopefully will be changed in time for the full version.

You can download it from http://projects.rpgi.net/vcfootball/files.html (1.3MB)

Once again, all feedback would be very helpful :P

Thanks

Sorry, Chester Guy, long time since I talk about your game, mostly because when I downloaded it, first time I run it, just on their first time with the ball, they shooted from veeery long and scored a goal :evil: :evil: :evil: , so I haven't played the game since it....... But the link page doesn't seem to work here, is there a trouble with my browser or with the page?

By the way, the game seems to be better for the (very, very, very) little time I've been playing, hope to come with some feedback soon. 8)
