The start of an era at 16 after finishing school i had college on my mind then i saw an ad for Football icon(the old tv Show where you win a chelsea contract) i didnt think i was good enough to go to get into chelsea but i decided to go but unfortunatlly i failed the trials for my boyhood team. Distraught i was playing in a park in a football tournament i put 100% in my performance when i got spotted by Charlton Manager alan pardrew while he was walkin the dog as he saw something special so he decided to give me a trial. So I did everything right especially the tackling one it became succesful got a contract negotiated a bit then accepted.I was so happy i cried of happyness so did my parents. So then i got ready for my debut.
Charlton V Fulham The Valley.
A south London Derby a right time for a premiership debut great atmosphere and i was ready starting line up. Nervous but exited at the sam time i can see my proud Family watching in the stands the game was underway made a few passes everything was going well until the opening goal went fulhams way but then before half time darren bent took a shoot then i slotted the rebound home 1-1
Get In! then second half started an indirect free kick a suprise i had to take it curled in 2-1! i couldnt believe it myself goalkeeper was well away from it. Full time. Rating 10 Man of the Match.
Dream debut i suppose the next match against Aston villa turned out great as i made an an assist but we lost 2-1 but rating was 8 but then my carreer was turning into a nightmare my form dipped we were thrashed 4-1 at home by man u and i got my first yellow rating 4 the next 4 matches went 7,6,4,5 i thought this aint happening the fans were getting restless so were family and friends and team mates but the coach still had faith i had to win them back so i did extra training and played my next match versus chelsea the team that rejected me i scored and set up a goal made so many tackles great game 2-2 rating 9 im back. my form went up again thought i deserverd a call up but i was only 18. it ws the end of 06/07 12th in the league(not like real life)
the next season wasnt that bad but the fa cup was an embarrasment as we lost to plymouth 2-1 in the fourth round and the league table was a bit better than before we finished top half and my performance was exellent only had a few minor injuries. And thats were i met my missus the annoying feisty type
Season 3 is the one like to forget i just played a few matches then i got injured against birmingham as it was 1-1 i was shocked wen i saw i will miss 6 matches then the worse was yet to come i went out with my mates to a party with my girlfriend and the alcohol went up 70%! i couldnt play for ages and i still caused alot of contreversy by speeding in my Bently. didnt even play alot of matches as i requested to rest alot so i only played 17 games that season scoring once.
Well that was the end of me for charlton as i wanted to go to my Celtic the team that will get me european football went for £18 million with a big money contract i brought back the old charlton days and played out of my skin scoring 14 goals in 28 games won a european spot and the scottish double my first piece of silverware in my first season i think like it here in scotland. next season The Uefa Champions league was my target to win it the old firm derby against Rangers which was exiting as we won 2-0 but i got sent off the next match but i earned the place in the ireland team.
Ireland v Sweden Croke park
Finally the day has come my irish debut 21 years old, I was more nervous than my charlton debut my whole family my mums and dads side said they were going to watch me among the stands, And to add to the pressure Ireland Need to win to qualify the wholenation was behind our backs Realised how important the game was. As the national anthems were playin as you saw on TV you can see how tense we looked. my nervouseness kicked in i made a few sloppy passes and mistimed tackles but got away with it .As the game went on Ireland scored the opening goal 23 minutes into the game Robbie Keane scored a sensational first time volley what a goal great cross by Damien Duff. Afterwards i made up for my mistakes in the 40th min and set up Kevin Doyle but only to see he agonisingly hit the post after beating 2 me from 14 yards out what a goal that would have been first. Just a few minutes beforehalf time sweden were awarded a indirect free kick Mellborg headed it and Larsson tucked away the rebound 1-1 half time. As the second half went underway i dont know what the coach told them but sweden were coming right at us creating so many chances then finally after the hour mark 68 mins Ibrahimovic scored a 20 yarder what a goal it was not looking good were losing when we just needed to win i even took my chance but when wide as i followed another shot 2 mins later as i made the keeper parrie it as the rebound was cleared. i was trying to feed the ball to our only hope Robbie Keane but he just kept getting tackled and just hit it wide. 10 minites left of the match we couldnt break throug until the 82nd min when the ball was cleared then i picked up the ball played a one 2 pass with mcgeady and ran with it then passed it across goal then Keane tucked it away 2-2 late equaliser a lifeline for us it was a chance to make amends we knew we could do it the fans were at full voice behind us we did evertything possible o try and score but full time whistle 2-2 no euro for ireland. i sat there crying as we tried so hard but couldnt do it. we saw the swedes celebrate just as theey were next to us as they needed a draw i shook there hands and wished them luck as i applauded the fans as i walked into the tunnel.
As the season came to an end we won our title on the last day against kilmarnock and won 4-0 as i scored the last goal. but the champions league didnt go well as planned as we failed to reach the quarter finals.well thats the story so far hope you enjoyed it theres more to come
