So we're getting 3d stadia, in NSS4. What do people think to a static cam which you can place in your seat at your home teams ground? Might not be totally useful in game, especially if you sit right at the back of somewhere like old trafford, or behind a post at a league ground, but it would be cool to be able to play NSS4 from your own seat.

You mean an in bench view? That would be awsome if you were in the bench :D

Well I did mean from where you would sit in RL, but bench would work. I thought maybe if we can move the cam about, and then padlock it so that the cam stays doesn't move, but tracks the play. I don't if the 3d engine Si is using would be capable of doing that, or how much coding would be necessary.

But setting in real life is kinda unrealistic because you will be playing, unlike real life. Through when you don't get called for the team you could see it from the stands and maybe have an annoying fan next to you always shouting and a kid screaming kid saying that he wants to go home next to his crazy father ;)

It's certainly possible. I'm not sure how the joypad controls will work with the camera panning from obscure seating positions though.
I do intend to give the player lots of control over the camera; height and angle, either from the end, side-on or from the corner etc. I'll give more details in the next blog. :)

By the way, can you tell us when the next blog is coming out?

Most likely, probably sometime this weekend, maybe. :)

So there are custom 3D Stadia in NSS4?

Yep. Scrumble and I are getting the basics right, then we'll post a base pitch and some ground rules ("ground" rules, geddit? :P) for people to work to.
If you want to prepare yourself I suggest you download Google SketchUp 6 and practice, practice, practice. :D

But don't get carried away, and go and make big elaborate stadiums. We haven't pinned the details down yet, and the last thing you want to do is remake Wembley down to the last cable on the arch, and then find out you've got the scale wrong, and the pitch is a tiny dot in the middle :D
edit: Something screwy going on with this board. I've just posted this at 19:17, and yet it says I've posted it at 02:09 and somehow put it in front of Statto's post.

Check your computer time?
I've downloaded Google Sketchup and have got the gist of it but I'm waiting 'til the specs come out before I do anything, don't worry.
First two parks, assuming I get the hang of it, will most likely be Nene Park (Rushden) and Home Depot Center (Los Angeles/USA).

Maybe you got the timezone wrong...
EDIT... I am in front of statto... its 19.43 not 14.41

Nene Park, aka first time using Sketchup:

EDIT:
fun with PNGs... watch out NSS4 (if the engine is indeed powerful enough to render all this stuff).

sigh, I hate getting carried away.

I'm not sure how crowds will be implemented yet. Initially we need to keep the stadiums rather simple, so as not to stretch the engine too much. That looks about right though statto. :)
But yeah, it would be wise to wait till scrumble gets the foundations in place. ;)

Nice ones Statto.
I'm kinda dumb when it comes to Google SketchUp 6 so can anyone point me in the direction to a tutorial?

Isn't there a tutorial which pops up with the screen? SketchUp's pretty easy once you get the hang of it but it's pretty annoying.
I have finished a real-world stadium which may be seen in the game and another is in progress, which means NSH is suffering (but NSH won't be out for awhile sadly).
