Si, will the match engine have cutsceens?

I mean kinda like the reactions of a player when he gets boked, when a player is injuried, when he shots, makes a goal, celoebrates or just for doing ranfom giberish?

Kinda like PEs and FIFA match engine.

You mean player reaction on an event? ;)
I like it when he flashes the red. I'm evil! B)

Like when a player receives he red card he spits on the ground. Like when a player makes a shot but fails and goes rushing backwards to his position and then like the players status thinghy appear. Ect... make them act as real players.

I can't stand those cut-scenes. It's not the idea I hate, but the implementation. It feels forced and jarring because more often than not it's removed from the rest of the game.

If we take NSS3, the goal celebrations follow on from whatever happened in the build up, with players joining in from exactly where they where when the goal went in. It feels natural. Get the camera down there to join them and that's going to work much better than seeing identical celebrations.

I don't think there will be any "superfluous" animation in the first version of the 3d engine. Unless something can make use of the standard animations (running, kicking, heading etc) then it won't happen for a while. And as Fry suggests, it would be great to keep everything real-time.

I fell that the cut-scenes give a lot of realism to the game. (A player doesn't stand there and do nothing after receiving a red card, most of them don't)

However, I do agree with you on the goal celebrations, if cut-scenes could be made like that it would be amazing.:D:D

The problem is that when every single player reacts pretty much the same way, it loses all impact. A similar thing happens when you take a shot that goes narrowly wide and get a shot of the player looking disappointed. And it's rare that it has any consequences - player looks miffed, that's it. Is he really annoyed? It can't be too difficult surely, especially with the engines PES and FIFA have, to have players get more frustrated as time goes on and their reactions changing accordingly. The first shot going narrowly wide seeing a bit of a gasp, the fifteenth has him practically punching the ground in desperation.

I'd like that frustration released, as well - where when he finally scores he goes utterly ballistic unless the scoreline really doesn't warrant it.

Great idea. The frustation is something that a lot of players get in real life but nobody has yet succeed to get it in to a game.

Great idea Fry, that's exactly what I do in real life, especially with those 3-4 shots I miss a game without scoring :P.
