View Full Version : The Scoreboard?

I don't know what Simon plan on the scoreboard, but this is my idea of it.

http://www.worldcupcorner.com/img/content/ms-football-scoreboard.jpg

The standing can be change according to the league. The National flag into club flag.
This is not my original idea, just an image.

Do you mean the in game scoreboard? I think it should be customizable so that we could add some cool patches.

Here is a example

http://aycu37.webshots.com/image/15476/2003528117268411985_rs.jpg (it is supposed to be attached to the right side of the screen) (The background is suppose to represent England so don't laugh... it was done in two-three minutes...)

Nice actually Nando.. the game could read the team colours from the db and assign the background and foreground :)

Yep, and as for the middle image, it could be an unofficial patch... ;)

EDIT: Also, maybe having a small logo image like FM that would be placed near the name of the team. it would look dandy ;)

Hey, that scoreboard looks really nice! I would be good if also the goals (+minutes when scored) scorres would been shown.

The scorer name? .....?

All of that, I presume, will be added to th game but only when Si is done with the match engine.

Assuming Si uses FryGUI for his in-game scoreboard (and given he tells me the system works fine with the 3D engine he's using, it could well be possible) then this sort of customisation is definitely possible and shouldn't be too difficult.

Indeed, it would actually be possible for any one of us to go in and change the layout completely, but whether or not Si wants to do that is his call. It can be fairly easy broken and can cause the game to crash if the game is trying to access something that doesn't exist, and nobody wants that.

One thing I'd like to see is different score boards for different competitions. If anyone's played FIFA World Cup 2006, if you're playing as certain countries the scoreboard looks very different. Even at a basic level if it could be coloured in accordance with the associated national team colours (so red and white if you're playing in England, green and gold for Ireland, blue and red if you fancy a go at North Korea and so forth).

That was what I was going for. The Premiership would be different from La Liga, Serie A, La Ligue, Bundesliga or the BWIN Liga.

If I have the time I will make another example. So stay tuned.

Here is the example:

http://img71.imageshack.us/img71/5645/untitled1copyim1.jpg

It is a tad bigger than he other one but let me explain it.

The thing you most notice is the background, I presume. It is the Spanish flag and I think that this could be very nice for each country to have a personalized flag background.

Then you spot the leagues and teams. Each one with the right colors (Real Madrid white and white and Barcelona blue and red). Notice that the team logo appears rather transparent (you can tell it better by looking at Real Madrid) Also, it has the LFP logo (this will vary from competition to competition).

Then it shows the goals scored by each team and who was the last player to score a goal for each team. (I can change this in the future but if I do so I will have to make the scoreboard bigger.

And last but not least, by the LFP logo there are the minutes. (They will never vary in color, always white with a black stroke)

Hope you like it.

I like it altough the Barcelona Letters and Emblem aren't so clear. Perhaps if all the letters were like Real Madrid's it would be clearer.

I tend to prefer it when scores are on a single-colour background, as during a game you're going to only want to glance at the scoreline and time. You want highly contrasting colours for that.

I agree. But it still should be nice and when you are playing NSS you have got times you don't even touch the ball. But still, I think you are right.

I am going to make a new example now. Keep an eye on this.

I like the idea and all but do you have to have the team names there?

Why not just make the team logos more visible

Maybe... But some teams don't have team logos.

Maybe just the team logos and a small abbreviation.

I think this is where the '6 letter name' of the team in the database will come in handy ;)

So what do you think Si?

Which do you prefer. (I am still going to make another example, I jsut don't have the time now)

Nice work. I like the simple one for during a match. The extra details will only show when the game is paused though. I'd love to work on it right away but I have more pressing issues at the moment. :)

maybe scoreboard shouldnt be with scorers :P they (scorers) could be shown for example when player is going to take corner or throw-in etc :P

The simple one is nice for the game. But it has to be changed, it won't look as nice if one was in a 3d style and the other in a multicolour none 3d colour. I thinking more of a country style (that is, to use the countries colours and not the teams.) for the pause menu/the start of the match/end of the match/goals menu/player information and a small scoreboard (each side with the colours of each team) for when the game is running.

I am going to try and see if I can make more examples.

I tough of that and I am thinking maybe that when a particular player is taking a it should tell how many shots, goals and assists he as made, if he has a yellow card and the position he is representing.

EDIT:

Not my best work:

(Doh... forgot about the colours of each team...)

EDIT TWO, THE RETURN :-P

Still not my best work...

I mean the whole logo should be shown.

Actually, now that I think of it it wouldn't look that nice :wall:

If the logo shows it all, it would be too small.

I think he meant leaving the logo the same size and not cutting it off but instead making it rin over the edge of where the box currently is.

Just a tought, does anyone know which type of image can support alpha (transparency)?

Wouldn't there be a problem with having the logos of the leagues/competitions there? Since the leagues/competitions arent licenced.

JJU
01-07-2008, 11:44 PM
Yeah. To be honest, even if that wasn't a problem, or there was a way for users to customise say, a small blank png file in the scoreboard.. I think it'd look out of place.

Personally I'd be happy with just something a little more stylish than in NSS3. Which wouldn't be hard

I don't care, it's all about the gameplay and hoping Si's laptop didn't get washed away this weekend.

DS
01-08-2008, 03:40 AM
Are even real club names allowed when the game is not licenced by the league or club? Because in FM some teams have fake names due to them not having the licence for that league. Wouldnt want Si to get sued or something :blimey:

JJU

We'll cross that bridge and change them as and when we are asked to.

Maybe the simple style of:

MAN U 0 - 0 L'POOL 23:20 in the sky sports style of red background, with a black square around the time. but it has a filter that makes the bottom darker and the top lighter.

JPGs don't support transparency, besides the quallity is much worse than a PNG. JPGs are bigger that PNGs and less quality, PNGs are smaller and more quality.
