August 2005:
A Vacation turns to a career
Young Fernando Alves went on vacations after completing a another successful year studying to become a computer technician and, as some might know, he was an ace in football and those two weeks he had in Brazil, the land of soccer, could give him the chance he need to become the best.
As Nando played some street soccer he made a lot of dribbles including the virgula (as known in Brazil) and others. After the match he called for a cab to take him to his hotel, he had the flight back to Portugal booked for the next day, a man confronted him and gave him a card for a football team named Juventus in São Paulo.
The next day Alves decides to halt his return to Portugal and goes to a trial at Juventus. He aces it and gets added to the team in the same day. What awaits him?
A no-show for the match!?
The match was just two days away and who would have thought that Alves would be late for the match and miss it. The coach is not very happy.
Is this helping Nando or hurting him?
Fernando isn’t able to keep up whit the intensive training and is very tired, a fellow team mate offers him a solution: “Take these drugs. No one will find out.” Nando, not wanting to disappoint his coach takes them, and regrets it later. As for the money to buy the drugs Alves gives him an I-owe-you. Let’s see if it will have a positive influence on him.
First game, first loss
If you ask most players about their first game, they will say that it wasn’t their best, but compared to Fernando Alves’s first game it is heaven.
Nando’s team mates don’t trust him, he almost did have the ball on his feet and when he had he didn’t do anything whit it. Basically, the coach was not impressed and he got subbed at the start of the second half. This was not a good game for him.
Juventus lost 1-0.
From hell to heaven
Nando’s first game was a fiasco, but his second was amazing. First the game started whit a stunning goal by free kick from Rafael Cordeiro at the 11th minute. Then, whit a quick pass by Alves, Rafael Silva makes the goal (17thminute)! In the end of the first half, Nando makes his debut in the goal scoring business, ending he game at 3-0.
Juventus is now in 13th place.
Time for a rest
After his huge game, Nando couldn’t keep up whit his team and rested the next game.
The game ended at 1-1. Juventus goes up a place and it is now in 12th. Juventus has got a loss, a win and a draw.
Back and worst
The rest must have done something bad to Fernando, as he did not do anything in this match besides stand in the way. So, eventually, he got subbed, but when he did, Rafael Silva already had scored a spectacular goal! After Nando left the pitch things got worse, Fabiano, with the help of Carlos González scored a goal for América-RJ.
It ended at 1-1.
This month there were some bad moments in Nando’s career, but whit one good moment in between. Will that happen in the next month?
Director’s Comments:
This is my new career; it is in a new country and in a new position so say what you like about it. Now onto the career comments it self.
This season was hard, basically because I don’t usually play in expert (if you are wondering why my skills are like that I started a career in Pro and changed it to expert. See here why (http://www.newstarsoccer.com/newstarforum/showthread.php?t=4165)). And that is basically it, my director’s comments, I mean.
