1 June 2005 - First Professional Contract
An unexpected signing was made today, as the Major League side Chicago Fire offered the 17-year old swedish midfielder Jesper Johansson a £2000 contract. Johansson, who formerly played high school football for Californian squad Brewington seemed deligthed and confident to take his chances on professional Fotball, "When I left Sweden for high school here I had almost given up football, I would never have imagined that this would happen". A Fire spokesman said: "Jesper really made his mark during trials, he shows great potential.

6 Aug 2005 - Remarkable debute by unknown youngster
When he came on as a substitute in the 67th minute he was unknown to the soccer fans of Chicago, thirty minutes later he was the obvious center of attenton. Just being on the field for two minutes, the stocky swede curled his first senior goal into the far corner, meaning 3-0 for the home squad.
"I took a chance by shooting since my shooting stats aren't great and i was obviously deligthed to see it go in. It was a once-in-a-lifetime hit", Johansson said in the dressing room.
Adding on with some great passing and determined tackles he recieved a 10 point judgement.
Red Bull, a big time Fire supporter, was stunned by the performance: "17-years old and playing like an international superstar, I just can't believe it.

12 Nov 2005 - Scandinavian Teenager King of the Pitch
Jesper Johansson collected his first ever Man-of-the-Match award, as Chigago Fire drew D.C. United 2-2 at Toyota Park earlier today. Fire nr.7 added a goal to his tally and also managed to pick up an assist as the United keeper failed to hold his long range shot for an easy tap in. The swedish youngster recieved a price of one hundred strawberry donuts.
"This is prefect, I really like eating snacks in front of CSI" he said at the press conference. Lets see if he shows up for tomorrows practise.

17 Dec 2005 - Bang, Bang, Bang, Bang Four for Fire
Flamboyant midfielder Jesper Johansson celebrated an early christmas today as Chicago Fire trashed home team Chivas Usa at Home Depot Center. The swede contributed to the 8-0 victory with an amazing four goals. This was the first hattrick of his career and also the first hattrick of the Major League so far this season. The youngster has scored 9 goals in 22 matches so far.

18 Feb 2006 - Reckless teenager sent off
Swedish midfielder Jesper Johansson has really played the game of a wiking so far this season. The 17-year-old collected his 8th and 9th booking against New England and was sent off for the first time in his footballing life. Some experts says Johansson is dangerous to other players and that the referees should whatch him closely. Johansson himself claims the red card to be abit harsh "There is nothing to say about the first booking, i was abit late. The second however felt dubious, I'm quite sure i got to the ball first."
New England won the game, three to nothing.

22 Feb 2006 - Johansson wants to play in midfield
Earlier this week Chicago Fire manager Tom A. Hawk told the press that he wanted to use Jesper Johansson as an attacker in the future, this was however denied by the swede in an interview. "I´m definitly a midfielder. I´ve played there since i was a kid. We have great forwards in our squad and I have no plans to compete with them", Johansson said.

27 Feb 2006 - Soccer star showing it all
An unexpected sight was seen on Monday as 17-year-old Chicago Fire player Jesper Johansson walked through downtown completly naked. Although it was -5*C and snowy he didn't hesitate to do the full monty. 15-year-old eyewitness Alexis Nolan was stunned by the experience, "he plays a big game and as far as I'm concerned thats not the only big thing about him."
Johansson himself wasn't that excited, "Chris Armas had stolen all my clothes, what was I supposed to do?"

15 Mar 2006 - Superswede stuck in freezer
Jesper Johansson found himself on the bench again today as his Chicag Fire played a goalless draw at Salt Lake City. This was the fourth match in a row that the swedish midfielder failed to make the starting eleven. Youngster Johansson has suffered from alot of controversity lately and doesn't seem to have the managers support. The teenager hasen't started since his sending off against New England and since then he collected huge media attention by streaking through downtown. Sources among Fire claims there's a dispute between Johansson and Hawk after the swedish refused to play as a forward.

1 Apr 2006 - Johansson finally scores
Suffering from 6 straight goalless matches on the subsbench Jesper Johansson finally scored again as Chicago beat Colorado Rapids 3-1. Johansson came on as a substitute in the 68th minute and instantly made his mark. Just being on the field for about a minute he directed a left corner with his head past a chanceless keeper. The goal helped the swede to a 9 point rating and several supporters in the sang the songs of starting eleven.

2 Apr 2006 - Young prospect signs boot deal
Jesper Johansson signed his first ever sponsorship deal after the match against Colorado. According to a Hi-Tec source the deal stretches over 2 years and is worth about £60000 a season. The swedish schoolboy will also do commercials and design a special pair of boots. "I've always been an artist. On the field, on screen and of course as a designer", Johansson claims.

1 May 2006 - Three in a row for Johansson
Following his goal against Colorado Jesper Johansson has started in three straight games. And in what way then!
The spectacular midfielder has recieved the Man-of-Match award in all of them, scoring no less than 6 goals. His hattrick against Metrostars was followed up by an easy tap in against Dallas and two remarkable goals today againt L.A. Galaxy. The second was scored as a late equalizer in injury time.
This was Johanssons 16th goal in the last day of the season, a truly remarkable rookie year.
