I'm with Fab on that one, Britpop is where it's at, although I love Snow Patrol, Killers and Keane recently. I'm also partial to a bit of Nirvana/Pearl Jam. Occasionaly I'll go for true classical, who can beat John William's Star Wars themes?

RHCP rock. My real introduction to them was strange though. I'd been out on a particularly heavy night, met a new mate, crashed round his and woken up the next day, carried on drinking and playing some great chess . He put Californication on and that was it, hooked.

Of course, I knew Under the Bridge, Give it Away, Rollcoaster etc, but had never listened to an album from them. Californication is still my face RHCP album, I find most of their earlier stuff too hard to listen to.

JJU
01-23-2007, 05:18 PM
What about them? :blimey:

I used to like them when I was like 14-16, but soon grew out of them as they didn't push themselves much imho. I've grown into different genres since too.

I could never get into Oasis cos they just wanted to be the beatles. Noel or Liam with the John Lennon glasses and they made their music videos like the beatles. They did a few good tunes but nah!!! And they support Man City. Which is ok I guess cos all real mancunians support city :)

I really like REM and U2, I wanted to go to Buenos Aires to both U2 and Oasis gigs, but I guess I'll have to see them perform live some other day ;)

well my favourites are into the heavy metal or punk area:

Iron Maiden are top list but also
Metallica
Type O Negative
Exploited
Almighty
but i like also Pearl Jam, Heroes del Silencio, Smashing Pumpkins and Gun's 'n Roses
and some more "lighter" ones such as Robbie Williams, Mel C
and Opera's themes (Pavarotti has a voice nobody else can match in term of power)

basically these are the cd's i take with me while travelling (i drive a lot accross italy for work)

Metal, of course! Therion is my favorite band (orchestra, choirs, and heavy guitars!), I also like Tristania, Opeth, Katatonia, Anathema, King Diamond and many many more! :)
However, from time to time I listen to some classical music (Mozart's "Requiem" is a real masterpiece) like Bach, Wagner, Bizet and some others.
Basically - these two 'extremes' :P

The Fray = ½
Paramore = 1

Just realised, Evanescence should get 75% as it's much more "rocky" than Linkin Park..

I don't agree. Listen to songs like Imaginary or Lacrymosa and you'll know you can't say that.

lol @ your way of writing Evanescence...

Thanks for the suggestion though, heard a lot from Within Temptation but never actually tried it. Will do though, especially because Evanescence seem to be on hiatus.

 I just saw this.. LP are half rock half rap tbh.. ½

Evanescence are ½ too really, with pop/classical/gothic influence. PopRock if you will. ½

The Fray are as much 'Rock' as my left toe. Which is a little but not a lot. Maybe I've not heard enough of their stuff but what I have heard hardly makes me want to rush out and listen to more, and I consider myself a 'Rock' fan. ¼

Paramore rock? They're EMOPUNKPOP for crying out loud! No rock there little fella :P '0'

Cookie Monster
02-03-2009, 08:56 PM
lol agree on The Fray thing but I still disagree about LP. @ left toe rock thing too :D And if you want more The Fray, go to http://www.youtube.com/user/thefray

And Paramore are rock, or so Wiki says. If Wiki says, Wiki is right! :P

Paramore (IPA: /ˈpærəmɔər/ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:IPA_for_English)) is an American rock (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_music) band that formed in Franklin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin,_Tennessee), Tennessee (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennessee) in 2004 consisting of Hayley Williams (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hayley_Williams) (lead vocals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lead_vocals)/keyboard (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_keyboard)), Josh Farro (lead guitar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lead_guitar)/backing vocals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backing_vocals)), Taylor York (rhythm guitar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhythm_guitar)), Jeremy Davis (bass guitar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_guitar)), and Zac Farro (drums (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drum_kit)).

There are many bands with metal guitars and female vocals - Lacuna Coil, The Gathering, Artrosis, (has anybody mentioned this horrible Nightwish?), Therion's record called "Vovin", Tristania, Sirenia, Via Mystica, Flowing Tears... Check them out if you wish :)
