Right chaps! Here is the very nearly release version of Sensational Soccer. This one is free to play till next Wednesday. :)

Unzip the folder to your desktop. Delete the entire folder once the game has expired.

Let me know if you find any bugs or want something tweaked*. It doesn't include any new translation updates at the moment.


*Tweaks mean simple changes, not complete overhauls of the gameplay! ;)

I'm loving the new environment!!!!!!!!!! And I almost die when I saw the painted lines of pitch :)
Can player heads be made smaller?? I don't like those so much :(

All the new graphics are in Images\Patch
If you rename the Patch folder to xPatch it won't use any of the new graphics. If you want to just get rid of the players delete the PlayerA-O files.

Love the general feel of it, the interface is nice and polished :)

Only played a bit of an Arsenal v Juve match, but noticed two things:

i) Can't seem to see the ball at throw-ins? Maybe the player heads are too large and obscure it? :lol:

ii) As may still be the case in NSS3, the player names shown during match are the surname field, regardless of whether the player has a 'nom de futbol'.

Good stuff though :D

I got a couple for yo JJU, Shevchenko's hair should be lighter, and Peralta (Grashoppers - SWI) is not nearly an Uzbek :) he's URU ;)
Anyway, I guess this will come on next release

edit: ... New graphics are better, but heads could be smaller. The language file is working perfectly, tough I think the function that translates "cup" at the main menu isn't working.

Peralta is Uruguayn in my files, so either Si is using files from before I may have corrected this, or isn't using the new nations.dat.

Si, I guess it got a bug, on Cup mode, I Beat Catania with Internazionale, difficult level, and Catania advanced the round :( I'm not sure what happened

Edit: I think I got it, when you finish the match, you get a menu, with stats, options, and continue. I always used spacebar to continue, but I think now the game associates spacebar with quit match or something, then when you go to the cup round screen, it shows as if you had lost for one goal. Can you check and correct that Si?

I see you included my mexican league...(which im not credite for) but that file you are using for it is an outdated database... I am working on an up-to-date version but unfortunately I was using statto's editor and I think I got the heights bug so its taking me more time to finish. However you can use the current file if you want but Im just telling that is not fully uptdated...

Great work SI. I have been a player of newstar soccer since the first version and it´s really fantastic to see the progress you have done over the years.

Will the different graphs be introduced to NSS3? Not that I was a big fan of the big sensiheads but I liked to look of the stadiums and everything else basically :)

Wow, I love it. The graphics, especially the animated players, are so beautiful! I am reading that people don't like the big heads, but I think they are awesome. That way you can really (sort of) recoqnize the player and as an addiction it gives the game its own style. In my opinion it should not have to be realistic looking players. In NSS3 the players all looked like each other. I like that the crowd goes nuts when I score. I like the whole sound and the music. The music on half time is really neat. It builds up some excitement for the second half.

My only criticism is that you changed the controls? I liked playing with the arrow keys. I only hope the game saves the changes that I make with the controls, because I would be a bummer to have to do set up controls everytime I want to play the game :)

Error in Italian traslation: in the option screen, the correct selections are SI-NO and not SU-FUORI :wall:

Good improvement in the appeal: interface, new graphics, music, gallery...

My opinion:

-At the beginning I disliked big heads, and I really prefer more "realistic" players, but I must admit that the new players are nicely designed.

-I think you should be careful with white or yellow text over green backgrounds. It's difficult to read. That happens in the team screen before matches, where the name of the player is shown in yellow over a green field.

-Spanish translation bugs:
."Cup" not translated in the game, but it's translated in the file.
."Choose your club" not translated, it's not in the file.

Are you sure "choose your club" isn't?? Is it the part where you choose a league, then a division, and finally a club? I think that was on my translation mate :)

I use those controls on my laptop because strange things happen when using the cursor keys, but you can change them:

Options > Controls:Change > Click each button to change it.

Awesome! This game has the same feel, but I still gotta get used to the fact I'm the whole team. I'm not letting myself get addicted to it till I can buy the full version though :P.

Found a bug,

When your keeper is taking a goal kick, if you press shoot gently (I did it by mistake:redface: ) and then try and kick it again with the keeper - a free kick is given in the area. Your defenders line up on the goal line and wobble about a lot & the opposition will not take the free kick.

The only way out is to quit, the first time I did this game crashed & when I tried to replicate it same outcome, but no crash.

It's actually unlawful in football for the same player that excecutes a goal kick to touch the ball again until anyone else does, it's kinda the same disscussion there was for penalties Si, hope it helps ;)

I found some minor issues that I would like to mention:
Well, after scoring a beautiful goal with bouba diop I noticed that he celebrated sliding on his knees but then if you change the camera view you will notice that he suddenly is sliding on his knees but like... erm.. backwards. I attached the replay.

On the same replay you can notice that I am playing with autopass off because i found it better to knock the ball slightly in front of you to gain those few meters, yards, cm, inches or whatever like you can see in the replay. This leads me to make a suggestion and that would be to add an animation that suits this kind of short "passes" that is really just a knock the ball in front or autopass but that could be also used for a short pass. You can see in the replay that bouba diop look kind of clumsy knocking the ball just in front of him but doing all that swing, again is just a suggestion because I dont know how many of you play with autopass off.

On a last point, I just noticed in the same bouba diop replay that at the top of the screen it says (Si Read) just beside the Fulham vs West Ham text is this intentional to avoid some kind of cheat in GOTM or just for beacause?

Well I hope you understood what I meant to, finally here is the so mentioned bouba diop goal, I have scored lots of mid range and long range goals but I found this one of my favorites:

Is there any chance of getting an Average cell in the stats screen (at the team settings screen)??? It would be plain average of the players' skills. I think that would give you the chance to skim through a couple of players and have a first sight idea of which one you prefer, if you don't know them

I found some things in the game as well. You can't call them bugs, but they're a little anoying.

When the keeper has a goal kick the arrow seems to have a random default direction? Why not face directly to the opposite goal. This just feels so unnatural.

Second, why can the thrower only throw at one person and not switch between persons (at least I wouldn't know how).

I am happy with the fact that it should be a free kick as per the rules. The bug is the fact that the opposition (even a controlled 2nd player) can't take the free kick. You are left with no choice but to quit & sometimes the game crashes when you restart following this bug.

I have found out more bugs:

- the crowd does not cheer when the replay is being played, that way it looks more like a reconstruction than an actual replay
- if you select "ajax" in the pause screen in a match, and then when you click on a players name, it says Dutch Caribean... while players are just Dutch.

Hmm, I started a league with arsenal and started my first game with a good 4-0 but to my surprise when the match ended the league table showed me at like 13th place with no games won, 4 goals scored and 5 goals against. Then the next match I also won like 1 or 2-nil but the league table again displayed that I have lost. The last match it was a 1-1 draw but the result was the same I have now played 3 games where I really won 2 and drew 1, but it says I lost all of them and always by the formula: ("my score")+1.

It's just been 3 games and I havent tried loosing on purpose but I tought it was a problem to mention.

On a side note, you should add a reminder, somewhere in the controls menu or at the loading screen where the tips are showed, of the ability to bring the keeper out with the spacebar...

That's what the coloured bar under the player's name is for. :D

I know Si, but It would be a little easier to have a couple of values probably like 25.5 or 13.6 to compare, as you cant compare easily when one player is 1st eleven and the other is at reserves :)

I mean 'choose your club' in small font, which isnt even in the english file from Si, so I DOUBT that it can be in your translated file :P
