Sensational Soccer Online Beta 4

Hi Chaps. Another day, another beta version. :)

This one has changed the lobby slightly. Now we can see everyone else who is online. They will either be Online, which means they are in the online menu, or Available, which means they are ready to host a game. (At a later date i hope this to also show who is currently Playing.) Don't forget to change your username in the Data\online.txt file.

This info is all hosted on our own database now too, so bookmark this page to see who is online without having to load up the game:

I've changed the default port that you connect through to 15604, so please make sure you can send and receive UDP data through your firewall on that port. (If you can play QPRocky's NET SOCCER then you will be fine.)

EDIT2: I don't know what happens but when I click on someone that is hosting it makes me pick 2 teams and play the CPU

Nando, i tried to join you, and it says "host index out of range"
I opened port 15604 this time, although i cant host any games in netsoccer despite having every port open.

I can never host games in netsoccer, but I can play in them, so does that mean online won't work for me?

Not necessarily. I can't host games in NetSoccer either, but I can join them. I can also join games in Sensational, but I haven't hosted any yet.

I tried playing 'ricardo' but the server timed out, don't really know how to get around this problem.

when i try to join 'ricardo', a dos window pops up and asks to enter host ip
and when hosting, i wait a minute or so, and then it just drops me from the online list and cant host no more.

I´m 'ricardo', im brazilian, and speak very bad english i cant play online too

I noticed same thing. There was some quest and my name didn't appeared to list.

I got also timeout, when tried to connect to Footiemad's server.
How is connection handled to game server? I noticed only UDP connection going to Footiemads address.

Most important messages should be transferred with TCP.
Players coordinates, speed, running direction could be handled with UDP.

Well if you want to open a port in your router/firewall, u can do it in TCP, UDP, or in both ways :P
I'm no expert :)

All right, we've established what the problems are with the internet play, unless you have a DIFFERENT problem there is no need to post anymore, and I'm sure Si is working furiously to try and correct these problems, however thanks to all for helping

Ok, this version has been taken down for the time being, you'll have to wait until the fifth version comes out to download the game. This thread has been subsequently closed, possibly only for the time being.
