Ok, here we go...
You know the score. Download the 10 candidates from the following link and extract the .rep files into your Game\Replays folder.

If you want to watch all of the entries then download this file:

Apologies to a couple of entrants who submitted goals from a rogue version of the Sensational Engine which corrupted the replay files. The goals couldn't be viewed and so were left out of the competition. The 4 goals were:
BraziPeru1.rep
ColumL.A. 1.rep
D.C. L.A. 1.rep
L.A. K.C. 1.rep
I'm sorry if these were your goals.

Woah, two goals in! Thanks Si. :D Yeah, this should be interesting. The rest of them are excellent...

Woo!! 2 Of my goals as well!! :D
Hmm... Now do I vote for Number 2 ... Or do I vote for Number 7?

That was you? Woah! I've been trying to get the ball in directly from a corner for ages, so congrats! Number 7's real class and will probably win! :D
I must try harder :( Great stuff though guys, some real nice goals in there!

Hmm ... I dunno ... I'm pretty tempted to vote for my passing move over my corner kick effort. I like the way the passes just flow together and open up the opposition's defense! ... But then with my corner kick, and the way the ball just floats in perfectly! ... ARGH!!! I can't decide!
It would have been so much easier for me to decide which goal to vote for if only one of my goals made it! Then, I'd obviously vote for my one goal that made it in the top 10, cos it's my goal, and it'd be nice to win! lol
Not that I'm complaining about having two goals in the competition, or anything! Considering Si had over 100 goals to choose from last month, and probably a similar number this month, I would have been amazed if 1 of my goals made it! ... But 2!!! :blimey:

I liked the passing move goal, it got my vote. ;)

Some very good goals this month, hopefully I will start to put some nice ones away now my stats are up a bit more...
I think that the passing one is my favorite as it involves the team and also the finish is tidy and sweet. No fancy finishing just a typical bang it home goal.
Plus it was on EXPERT mode too which makes it even more of a goal....
Nice one!

Yay! My goal is in the lead! Can we end the voting now?

I forgot to send my goals because of the short month.. :D but I'm glad I didn't because I'm pretty sure that if I sent goals I think my goals haven't a chance to end up this voting.. :D

Wow some of those goals were amazing and in any other given month would've taken the prize but that corner should've been impossible. I have to join the Corner kick vote group after seeing that.
Now if only I was a registerred member of 3 and had kept a replay of my goal... I imagine it's the only goal ever occurred while the GK was in possession of the ball... (Check out the bugs in NSS3 section for my report on that one.. :D)
Oh well I can't win the prize but I'm going to try and recreate that goal just to show folks the insanity.. ^^

See, I have learnt to edit my responses now. The corner is great - and on expert. I have been trying for 5-6 seasons now to get even close to that. One weirdness is the replay close-up disappears just when the ball crosses the line. I was trying to see if a defender had pushed the ball over the line.
My second choice was No 2, good passing - it is nice to see a human player being able to do that. Everytime I pass to my teammates in those types of positions, they just shoot away.
I also very much liked the long ranged volley - No 5. Although it was on amateur, it was a very controlled shot.
Still think my bounced off the keeper should have been selected, but I think that may be for this month, now!
One quick question. Replay No 4 has two teams with the same name. What is going on?

Heh, Qwertyest has this one in the bag. Congrats mate. :D
Having looked at them again, my vote has gone to #7 too.. great goal that I'd imagine most of us are going to spend a long time trying to replicate!
I'm still convinced my curling goal straight from the kick-off should have made it though :(

Hey, what happens if u vote for the passing one and it ends in a draw? Does Si decide or do the two goals go back out for a revote between just the two of them????????

I'm still convinced my curling goal straight from the kick-off should have made it though :(
It was in my top 15 and almost made it. I had a few long rangers of similar skill though, so in the end i dropped it. Sorry mate.
If there's a draw the Moderators decide on a winner.

No, i don't. I reserve judgement until there's a draw.

To be honest you could say that for any goal ever scored so I say Fry's was a great goal as well....

Luck shmuck. The graceful poise of Crayola as he deftly lifted the ball onto the bar to foil the goalkeeper should be recorded in the annals of time.
In truth I'm surprised it made the top ten. I've scored far better goals that I could never save because my laptop F5 is broken. It took a wireless USB keyboard to save this one.

Don't get me wrong, Fry, it was interesting to see that rebound goal and you don't normally get to see a ball bouncing off the top bar rebounding like that.. I just didn't think it was in the same league as the ones where the result was something that was intentional rather than a stroke of good luck having it land in your grasp. I've seen clips much less nice put up as a nominee though. Yours was respectable.. it just didn't make me want to stare in awe like two or three of the others managed is all.

I thought it warranted a wider audience as it was more interesting than a lot of the 50 yarders that i get sent. :)

I have scored some cracking goals from about 50 yards too, some of them even bounced over the 'keeper!!!!!!!!
I sent in one from 78 yards for January I think, didn't make the grade... ;)

Good thinking... 28 users is not really that good and with the number of people who visit the forum I was expecting somewhere round the 100 mark....

its so hard to decide, i could have chosen at least 5 for the top spot
i don't remember whether i voted or not though:)
I think a lot of it may be due to people not being bothered enough to download and extract files etc... then maybe trawl through any existing replays of their own until they hit the 10 winning entries.
Maybe an improved interface for the replays would aleviate this? You could have little subfolders and click into them etc

Initially i wanted to create the DivX videos as well, but they are very slow to create, slow to download and slow to watch!
Nando
03-22-2006, 05:52 PM
Maybe a quick replay viewer would do the trick...
Like, you could see the replays online, now using DivX...

I'd say the hastle is putting people off.
Being able to view directly through the web page or a video would get more votes in.
!S_M!
03-27-2006, 02:50 PM
Agreed. Especially annoying because of the way the replay engine works. If the replay function allowed you to see an index list of all the replays and choose which one you'd want to see it'd be a tad better than having to pass through them all one by one just to get to the relevant one.
But even if that was different there's still the whole process of DLing, unzipping to the right place, openning the game, and going into the replay engine. Would be soooo much better if we could just visit a webpage that has the replay movie embedded inside it.
