This is long
-The action gets banal alittle too soon. the option to play mp3s from one's music folder should be enabled. this feature should be cotrolled by the game so the music can be turned of at important instances.
-There should be a random image generator for the women you go out with. Why is there no interaction with your kids?
-family and friends should not have such dominant roles in your morale cos there are alot of players who like to keep to themselves so i render both relationships absolutely useless. How can your family still miss you so often evenwhen u r supposedly a grown up?
-In reallife players like Zidane who are humble and show little intrest for the media/interviews still get sponsorship deals so why cant we?
-the stats are way too easy to update. i'll rather have the ratings from 1-100 not 30. This way it depends on how well you comeplete the excercise so u can get points from 1-5.
-dribbling is the art of going past players what you have in your game is called technique, fix it.
-rigourous training should increase your injury proness so players who train all the time do get punished.
-its too easy to fall into dept. usually by buying drugs so fix it. no drug dealealer would dish out the stuff like that.
-there should be a popularity stat that begins from zero it is quite relative to fan support. you have no fan support until you are about 25% popular and then it grows.
-the manager should sometimes pick specific chalenges for you to complete. these chalenges should be different from those you can train on.
-minimal rating for an atrribute should be 20%. you shouldnt alway upgrade after a training. if every bodies stats increased after training then the world should be full of stars and it aint.
-in your first ear you should not be starting every match when there are obviously better players at the gaffers dispossal. you should start as a sub in most ordinary matches. maybe start in friendlies and all non-important cups. maybe play reserve matches. difficulty should seriously hinder selection prospects.
-what happened to captaincy?
-minimal energy should be 45%. inreallife you cant drain yourself and tell the gaffer u want a day off. thats just silly.
-you should get like a half time review from the gaffer rather than show match stats. eg. he should say "pass the ball better" or "dont play too deep"
-you should also recieve instructions from the gaffer like "no long shots", "shoot at goal", "dont defend" or "hold the ball". i know this is hard cos i tried to make my own game.
-playing in a terrible team should reduce chances of world popularity therefore reducing respect from the chairman as regards to contracts. where is our agent? the agent should be able to find u a club without u asking the manager for a tranfer.
-playing in a lower team should increase seklection prospects and high teams reduce.
-there should be an option to go clubing. that is where you meet girls so u reduce the random encounters. there should be different ratings for night clubs so you know where to go to find a celebrity. the bouncer only lets u in when you are famous. also include resturants so u have to do more work when going on dates. add the option to pick dating clothes out of what you have bought.
-manager should be able to scold when u are playing **** and u should have an option to respond or not. same with referee desicions.
-outrageous player of the year awards.
-more random strains and injuries that may last for just one day so u cant train.
- they may come as a result of an earlier tackle or excessive training.
-an option to see a private physio should be enabled.
-option to add or loose weight.
match engine:
------------
-you should not loose ratings for holding the ball. who made up this rating system? kill him! lol.
-rebouded shots are not assists. passes are.
-why is there no man marking?
-more formations and tactical styles. every team plays the same, fix it so they play to there strenghts.
-there should be a sprint boutton that when held you run while tapped you sprint by knocking the ball.
-when team in possesion. pass= ask form ball to feet, lob=ask for high ball, shoot=ball to space.
-vision is how much of the field u can see so it affects the camera. the players should be a bit bigger like X2.
-turning and aiming is too wierd. why no emulate the pes system since you like pes(not pes5). add 32 directions or maybe 16.
-some training senarios are just plain stupid. score from 65 yards? whay not aim for top left or top right.
-i'll advice you to play pes3-5 with player switching on fixed so you can get another form of 1 player experience. or play libero grande on the psone.
-can you make the crowd more active?
-shooting at goal should only increase ratings if it is close to goalor punched not when its so wide. actually mis shots should reduce that. first time passing and shooting too easy.
-there should be a norale rating so we can see if we are happy or sad. his should inturn affect form.
-playing with a good team should increase stats slightly.
-more positions like offensive midfieler, sweeper and so would increase variety.
-increase the ability to play anumber of positions. the more you play in a postion the better you play. odd positions should reduce your stats for the duration off te match and if continous it could reduce moral and overall stats ie if you do not play well.
-your attributes should dictate where you play eg if when sartin you have
shooting-good
pass-vgood
tackling-good
speed-average
position-fwd
you should automatically have an alternate position of midfielder.
-more importantly why are there **** teams in the champions league? the in active laeagues(ie the league u r not playing) should not have such radom outcomes. blackburn v reginna champions legue final.
-why the sudden reduction in speed when running diagonally?
-the overall game speed is too sl0w. multiply by 1.75.
-fowards make too many back passes. too little goals from crosses. too few penalties. terrible atacking and defending support. formation is too spaced out.
-too many goals scored in a match. reduce each half by 30-60 secs.
-the less you pass the less you recieve.
-the more active your are the higher your ratings. high ratings can improve media attention.
-fix the player collision physics. its just stupid.
-increase chances of slips and mistimed volleys.
-diffent injuries affect different stats. minor head injuries reduce heading. minor ankle speed or shooting.
-only 3 trainable stats per week.
-use pes style stats. (0.0 99.99) so you increase stats from 0.0-5.0 depnding on how well u cleared the traning. gold, silver and bronze rating. some stats are hiding others unclear.
-random morale upgrades eg favourite team win cup, girlfriend late, car breakdown, **** cd/dvd, flu dioreah from chinese take away.
-preseason matches.
-the less matches you play the lower you match fitness, increase rigidity and injury proness, reduced morale.
-reduce chances of scoring long range headers.
-add random hamstring injury.
-add a formation editor to the game so when we make leagues we can add their actual formations to the game

- Added Youth Team
- added Uefa Cup
- Improve the Continal Cup because in real life it's different
- Your team mates are also improve stats.
- Transfer offers when you not listed
- more transfer from athor players and not the not real players that always are transfers
-------------
In Game
- dive Button
- you can arrgue with the ref
- there is a captain in the team thats do the toss in begin of the game and
- can argue for the hole team
- team mates are also calling for the ball high and low
One of the best topics of the year as one of the last. Great lists.

Then find another solution that dominates morale. I don't care that this is not real.
-in your first ear you should not be starting every match when there are obviously better players at the gaffers dispossal. you should start as a sub in most ordinary matches. maybe start in friendlies and all non-important cups. maybe play reserve matches. difficulty should seriously hinder selection prospects.
When you are plaing on expert, then first seasons are to upgrade your stats 'cause it's to dificult to play good matches at the begining. So if you train your player then you are not playing ;)
Not in NSS :) what is wrong with long shots etc.? If I can win with that a corner or score a goal. With this engine your proposals make no sens to me.
-vision is how much of the field u can see so it affects the camera. the players should be a bit bigger like X2.
I have not seen a player who could not see all players on the field :) it is as stupid as loosing rating for holding ball :)
Players size is ok, it looks like SWOS and that's the fun :)
Edit: I can only agree that you can't see player behind you. But all players that are in front of our player should be visible.
-turning and aiming is too wierd. why no emulate the pes system since you like pes(not pes5). add 32 directions or maybe 16.
I have no problem with that. PES is PES, NSS is NSS, I don't want any changes in this area.
-the overall game speed is too sl0w. multiply by 1.75.
Maybe it's due to your PC? I think that game speed is ok. It's even faster since new font has been implemented. Making NSS faster would change it to Speedy Gonzales simulation :)
-too many goals scored in a match. reduce each half by 30-60 secs.
Time shouldn't be reduced. Styles of play, defenders etc should be improved :)
-the less you pass the less you recieve.
If you are a forward, classic 9, you shouldn't pass to much, your job is to score goals, so why i should get less passes?
-the more active your are the higher your ratings. high ratings can improve media attention.
You mean running around? :) When you stay on field and do nothing, your stats are reduced. Rating goes up when you do sth good for the team. Beeing just active is not the way to get higher ratings.
-use pes style stats. (0.0 99.99) so you increase stats from 0.0-5.0 depnding on how well u cleared the traning. gold, silver and bronze rating. some stats are hiding others unclear.
Why you need NSS to look like PES? It's differend game. Maybe stats should look like SWOS, FM, FIFA, Striker, Kick Off or Actua Soccer? :D
-preseason matches.
It would be boring :P
alienisko: By long shots I'm guessing he means that the manager wants you to get closer to the goal before shooting to increase your chance of scoring.

The UEFA cup and reserve teams are good ideas, in the other things I agree with alienisko. And why want NSS4 yet? I would love to see NSS3 being improved and not to rush making NSS4.;)

Tell me about it... We have to enjoy what we have now.
Yes, yes of course.
Will Si be making drastic improvements to NSS3 though or will we be waiting until NSS4 for them?

im pretty sure Si has already said in another thread that the UEFA cup and reserve teams will not be in NSS3.

What I'd like (or this could go in a patch) is if the match engine didn't load up if you didn't want it to, like when you're training and resting instead of playing in a match. You could get a pop-up box saying "Watch match?" or something instead of it coming up when you're suspended, injured etc.
You can get a quick result.
AfterDeath
01-03-2006, 11:04 AM
No, what I mean is that when you're injured or suspended, it still shows all the teams and stuff, which takes up a bit of time, so maybe if you can't play it should appear in a pop-up box instead of loading the engine.
Also, I know this would be hard, but it would be incredible if NSS4 could have 3D graphics, or at least move to a more realistic game than Sensible World of Soccer. It could take on perhaps the FIFA 97 engine or something.
Ah, I see.
In-game playlist please. I'd like to be able to setup my own playlist on a loop so that I can listen to music instead of the custom sounds.

What do you mean 'custom sounds'? Like playing mp3s during the game? I frequently listen to Ween or Super Furry Animals (my 'NSS3 music') using Windows Media Player as the game is being played no problem... instant messaging isn't as friendly at times though.

AfterDeath: NSS3 is IMO so cool 'cause it looks more like SWOS than like Fifa or PES :)

It is annoying having to switch between windows to choose which song I want to listen to. I just want a playlist which I can add my songs to and it will play through them all and when it has finished... it will play them all again.

Hehe. Well, I guess I've never been a big fan of SWOS, simply cause I find it unrealistic in some areas, but it is a good arcade-style game and some people love it. :D
The headers in it can travel half the pitch, which I find weird...

If all the changes mentioned in the first post were implemented for NSS4, I'd probably pay again!
The most glaring faults of the game are the man marking and defense ai. Also, maxing out your player is way too easy to do in the first couple years on Amateur and Pro, Should I have a nobody to superstar in two years?

My favorite thing about NSS3 is that it doesn't require a fancy graphics card or anything like that. The simple, neat graphics means that more development is spent on the game engines and less on the graphics engines.
Hear hear for more complexity and realism in the statistics and simulation of the game well before 3D graphics!
AfterDeath
01-07-2006, 08:43 PM
FIFA 97 is very, very basic in graphics, but it's 3D and plays a little better in terms of realism. I guess I just never liked SWOS, but some people find it good.
Yeah, for bigger teams, players could get rated by actually being watched. Frank Lampard, on my game, had 18 shooting points, which kind of surprised me considering he scores a lot of goals.
EDIT: What about a first person engine? So you're actually down on the pitch? Or would that be too weird?

I'll be releasing a new version of NSS3 today which fixes a few minor issues but there won't be any big updates for a while. I'll be working on Sensational Soccer next which will use the NSS3 match engine and be very much like Sensible Soccer in terms of options, tournaments etc but keeping the NSS gameplay. It's to allow for 2 player games and control over the full team. During production of Sensational Soccer i will no doubt improve the match engine which in turn will be updated in NSS3, so there will be some improvements to NSS3 after Sensational is released.
Hope that makes sense. :)

I think that one of the things that is bad with the game is that one could conceivably miss every single match and just keep on pumping himself up until his stats are on full. I didn't do that but I was playing on expert and I felt like I wanted to sometimes. Realistically, while all football youngsters learn their trade on the training ground, your real football education is in big matches. I know that your stats do increase sometimes in matches. But telling the gaffer that you want to be rested every single game in the year IS silly. and unrealistic. I think after a while in a players career they start to learn from the matches they play in and not from training drills. When real players play in training they train against the same players week in and week out unless they are transferred. It is definitely the biggest flaw in the game because cheaters have a leg up on everybody else.
Their should be time for training and time for matches, you shouldn't be able to train in lieu of playing a match. I think if your combined skill level and form level averaged out are less than the best of the players playing in your position available, you should always come on as a sub. Or you should not come on at all, if your stats and form are worse than another guy who could be a replacement, thus allowing you time to train.
The second biggest flaw is steroids. From starting in conference as a no-hoper I took steroids and got caught, suddenly I was in the media eye and everybody wanted me and my value shot up. A couple of weeks of asking for a transfer later I was in the Championship league earning roughly 2000 times as much money. With the kind of money I was earning just by transferring my player all the time, I managed to get my fitness skills stats right to the top, just by taking the steroids and then going to rehab and getting it out of my system, and then repeating the exercise. Surely steroids have a limit to how much you can use them. I think steroids should rather increase your skills drastically, but only for as long as you are using them. When you stop using them the effect should wear off gradually and your stats should return to normal. In real life steroids do not permanently make you better as far as I am aware. Why should I be rewarded for playing like this?
The third thing is when my player was approached with allegations for homosexuality. I thought it would be a big laugh for my player to confirm allegations and then deny them a week later just to get me media hype up a la Robbie Williams. Problem was my player didn't get the opportunity to deny them. My player never got nookie again ...ever. Girls just wouldn't approach my player...not even three years after the incident. My player might as well have been a poof.

Here are a couple of suggestions if you ever get to NSS4:
How about adding a few options:
I think the game should have seedy options to show the dodgy side of football too. Also how about when that cute redhead or the swimsuit model girlfriend comes up to your player you get a pic? When the "petite redhead with fiery red hair" introduced herself I didn't know how hot she really was. Redheads can be petite and have fiery red hair and still be dog ugly. Although if you really wanted to be true to real life and footballers relationships their should definitely be an infidelity option, not to mention threesomes with high class hookers and football groupies, *********** with the nanny etc. Rape allegations though should be avoided at all costs, too sensitive.
Other options that might spice up the game and make it more realistic are things like taking player bribes and scandals of various kinds, like tapping-up, or leisure narcotics. And you could supe-up the player profiles by giving a more in-depth way of constructing the way players look, something like the sims even if its far less complex. If players can really SEE their characters and even construct how they look they will be much more personal to them then "tall, with black hair and tanned skin." This idea has the potential to be a real money maker, right now its a little bit like sensible soccer with a great idea, but you need to take a leap in a modern direction. I can just picture Beckham fans the world over trying to make their own Beckham clones in a kind of Sims-meets-GTA-meets-FIFA-meets- Championship Manager game. This idea has such incredible potential and if you don't run with the ball someone else will, and you'll be left rueing what might have been.

Jack Harlequin has made some very good points there about the simplicity of some of the options, I think that was also pointed out by the PC Zone review, in an otherwise fantastic game. The different tricks to get around some of the ingame situations will obviously be worked on.
On the subject of the post at the start of this thread, I don't personally think that any of this game's features should be changed to be like PES, keep the game in its own original style, I personally love the sensible soccer style match engine, brings back so many good memories.
I also believe preseason matches would be a great idea, the fact that if you join in some of the higher leagues you are launched into league matches with little experience or skill (Doesn't matter as much on amatuer) is a bit crazy.... Fun, but crazy. Preseason matches should be where you build up your stats and makes things a little more believable rather than gettin "SEASON ENDS" and then it jumps to another one.
Glad to hear that sensational soccer will lead to more improvements for NSS3!

Personally I like the stats idea that someone else suggested. Stats out of 50 or 100, and each training can give you 1-5 points depending on how well you do it.

ghi guys. i have be off for so long i actually didnt realise my post had such an impact. i think the community should be responsible for input of leagues and teams. also the jerseys so si can work on the harder stuff.
@ si: do you not think working in 3d is easier than psuedo 3d? as in all you need is just 2 kicking animations 1 diving, 1 header, 1 volley and 1 slide tackle. i think i ca help with the animation if you need it. as for the stadium we could just do with a green pitch and ad boards
as far as I'm concerned, the community has contributed all the league and team data so far, and will continue to be so until Si hires his own team and can pay the licence fees!
Obviously the database we have now will keep us in good stead as long as it's maintained and err.. improved upon once in a while ;)

Hi!
I'm new to all this and i'm amazed at the support of this game - long may it continue! How about putting in place a better competition structure. Tournaments like the UEFA Cup, World Club Championship, Intertoto Cup and the Copa Libertadores would make an excellent addition to the game. It would also allow the lower leagues to have a chance to qualify for the Champions League and UEFA Cup, like the Faroe Islands, through the qualifiers they have. Also, how about having some more details on who plays where? Currently (as far as I know) there is no way of assessing current international squads execpt for when you play them.
It's just a couple of ideas I thought i'd place on here. I also like the other media/girlfriend suggestions on this topic also - very funny!
Keep up the good work everybody!
welcome Divvyboy :)
Club competition expansion is something that's been discussed since NSS2, and many of us hope Si can work them into future developments.
Like the idea on being able to assess national squads, it would also give us pointers where stats were potentially not realistic!
Welcome to the forum, enjoy your stay!

How about putting three sections in to explore in the style of a nintendo rpg..or even perhaps the sims I think that
everything you should buy should have some use except the decorative stuff.
1 . Your home. Starting at digs then can be upgraded depending on wealth to country cottage, mansion. Inside you have a
entertainment area(4 replay playback, career higlights) your office for stats, bedroom for gettin down with the gf, trophy
area, gym (train here to upgrade stamina and if you don't train for a while stamina diminishes ) garage stables etc.
2. The local main street. This is characteristic of region you are playing in (asia, europe, middle east, UK an ireland etc.)
here you have a shop were you can buy special items ie. the boots mentioned below. Also a bar for meeting with friends and
building up social morale/confidence. Also you can talk about upcoming matches or get gossip on the team like finding out a
certain player does/doesn't or other stuff . Visit the nightclub where you can meet potential girlfriends, drugdealers
mafioso types.
3. The stadium. Here you have the training area, physio room, boss office, boardroom, trophy cabinet.
How bout special items that can be bought in certain sports shops like special boots ranging from moulded to golden each
giving a 1 - 5 bonus to your pace when worn. Your max pace is 25 without them and maybe add to your technique also. Other
special items could include
The training system makes it too easy to build up your player quickly... I hit 30 on everything by the age of 20 while
playing nearly every game after season one on my 1st go!
How about you train during the week once or twice depending on midweek games..
Here choose the type of training. If you choose set pieces it gives you 10 freekicks from various angles and distances. Each
one gives you 100 exp points. And to increase your skill from 5 to 6 you need a 1000 exp. pts. to get from 21 - 22 you need
5000 so the higher your rating the longer it takes to add to it this could mean a lot of training.
This would make your advancements more gradual over seasons. Also during a match you could get experience based on your
overall play for every succesful pass 100 pts towards passing and vision tackles add 100 to tackling and strength goals add
200 to shooting and positioning. Assists add 200 to passing and flair. You could give more for internationals and champions
league and a lot for cup finals. This way not only training would increase.
Attackers should start double the shooting amount as normal defenders tackling x 2 midfielders passing x 2
Great game so far was wondering when someone with the know how would invent a game like this. I loved foty by gremlin remember the Quiz to make money to buy goal cards that was a cool part.
One of the things that is also cool about NSS3 is the minigames to keep things mixed up more of these would be welcome. Like when
you drive your car home thrashed after a night out how about GTA 3/ micro machines minigame where you have to avoid crashing
or alerting cops lol maybe not but keep up the good work hope thi was of some help. Jamie
I really like that post :) top ideas in there, some I had in my head a while ago but putting them on here is by far the best way!
Would love to see a more graphical representation of the 'home/street/stadium' idea, and as for the gtaesque driving game (I think it'd be closer to the original gta really!)... :)
Good concepts on the training too.

^^^
Always wanted that, the database can create random players with fictional names depending their nationality.
But if you want that to be pulled off, the stats should range 0-100(Harder development, we won't have perfect players with 20 years anymore like this).
AfterDeath
01-26-2006, 08:31 PM
I agree with Supermati. Stats should be 1-100 I think. BUT, because that would take forever, you should have training ratings. Basically, you get a training mark out of 3 depending on how well you do. This increases your ability in it.
I'd also like to have a sort of 'General Public' relationship. You can gain points by giving to charity and doing good things like coaching kids and stuff, but you can lose them by not giving enough away, collecting yellow cards, having a bad temperament and stuff like that. It could affect how many special items you get in the year, free gifts occasionally from celebrities and lower prices in the shop.
I've already spoken about the 3D way NSS could go, or maybe even a first person view. You play with the mouse and the normal keyboard buttons and basically you have a first person view of the entire pitch. If you want to shoot high, move your mouse up and visa versa.
Online play would be amazing. 10 players on each team could meet up, form their own teams, have a massive league and generally play football. You could also have 5-a-side matches and stuff. The possibilities are endless with that.
I think a major part of the appeal of NSS is the retro graphics. It reminds you that you can give a game a flash 3D engine and whatever, but it still might not be as playable or addictive. I'd like to see the 2D engine kept for at least NSS4, or very basic 3D implemented at most.
Can go with the stats though, I think they need a rethink for NSS4, if not Sensational.

Hmm... well, yeah. I guess I'd just personally love to actually feel as though I was playing rather than controlling an avatar. But that's just me. I'll wait until Virtual Reality comes around. :D
NSS98's gonna be awesome! You can actually go to the match and play with your feet as if you were there, and it's just £50 for a headset and game!

How do you think about the possibility to actually choose a club? I mean, when you get offers from clubs, they come one after another and you have to turn the first one down to see the second one and so on.
Why not display all offers at once, so that you' re able to pick out the one you like the most.
Been mentioned before, but yes, I think it would be a good thing indeed. I can be somewhat labourious turning down multiple offers from spainish / italian clubs when all you really want is to view english ones.

Thanks John glad it was helpful.
The graphics would be based on Zelda or unchartered waters for SNES.
Also yeh the driving game I wasn't expecting Vice city just yet :)
Hope you don't mind...
Here's another idea a slightly different approach to the Zelda idea.....
Do it to look like the original GTA so you drive around your village city or town in that looks like the particular region. Each major world city would have it unique shops and bars.
It would be completely topdown even when you go into stadium or home. You can drive to your house ,which can still be upgraded, or to the shops bar clubs. Each car has its own particular merits speed acceleration etc. obvioulsy a mclaren F1 if you could afford woould be superfast and a jeep have more armour from being rammed this would actually help you evade cops or fans or crazy ex-girlfriends. Each would have its own rating but you can't rob cars or blow people up etc.
btw AVOK I liked your thread and definitely was an inpiration for some of my ideas(gf in nightclub etc.) but not training to be honest. Alternatively I like the way this is based on sensi soccer and not pes but I would like to see konami look at a gem like this and incorporate it into Pro evo.
Finally John I would gladfully do up a graphical representation for you of whichever idea you think would be the most viable let me know J
JJU is fine Jamie, seeing as me name ain't John ;)If you want to do any graphical representations, feel free to pass them on to Si Read. I'm more of a database monkey than the front end god that is Si :) I'd be interested to see them just out of curiousity mind!To be honest though, I think the odd drive/walk would be nice in NSS, like when you need to get to training, or the shops as you stated earlier. However, it should be a welcome distraction and nothing more imho.

How about:
A Fans Player of the year award?
More use of the items which you buy?
Golden Boot awards in individual leagues and cup competitions?
Team/Player Rivalries?
An option to skip the match until you are taken off the bench?
A bonus for winning the cup or league?

ok, here goes, hope im not speaking out of turn here.. heres a few ideas for improvments ive thought of
1. when requesting a transfer, how about the boss making a play for you to stay if ur playing well? offering increased wages, or a special item or even a house or car ect..
2. when renegotiating ur contract, i think it would be nice to see your old one next to the revised one so you can make you negotiaon more sucessfull.
3. now this one my buisness partner thought up, being a gay man he dosent fancy the idea of a bird, so how about the ability to make your player gay? or even bi? were all for equality, right?
4. id like to be able to hold the manager to ransom more, i.e. refusing to play if he dosent sign a new winger for instance, worked a treat for anlan shearer at blackburn when he got sutton benched coz they fell out.
just my ideas, feel free to flame away :D

Well, number 3 is in there already. You have to wait to be asked by a reporter if you are gay. After that you won't be approached by women. Unfortunately you can't have any partner at all though, so you'd just have to use your imagination.

I've just thought of a few good ones.
Basically, I'd like each player on each team to have a rating from each match as well, and the player with the highest average could get the Best Player award or whatever. Form could also be a big part of selections.
Other players should have energy bars as well, so when they become low they get substituted or even rested in some games.
I'd also like each player to have a rating, which could be their average out of all the stats. Basically this would help in selections, because currently John Terry is on the West Brom bench in my game, which really makes no sense whatsoever. So yeah, average ratings could also be useful in picking teams, national squads and the like, and players with certain ratings wouldn't move to lower down squads or whatever, so we don't get Frank Lampard at Chester City.
I don’t want at all that the computer make auto-passes for me! (I hate soccer games with auto-passes, that’s why I don’t play PES5) All I want to do in NSS3 is my player kicks the ball in the direction of the arrow (pure pass) which I
will control by the strengh and aftertouch instead the ball
goes directly to my teamate by magic or helping by computer. Everytime I
want to perform a manual pass (in the dirction of the arrow) the computer
(ignoring the arrow direction) makes a pass to my teamate feet, when I want
the ball 5 or 7 meters ahead him... :(
AfterDeath

Auto-pass is extremely handy, actually. If you don't like it or are not skilled at it, don't use it really. Increase pace if you're finding passes too hard to get to.

I would like to see an option of changing radar colours. I find it hard to use when the 2 colours are very similar, eg white & yellow, orange & red, dk blue & black.
I would also like to see the 4-4-2 attack formation changed so the 2 central defenders are a lot more defensive. Its not uncommon to have huge counterattacks on this formation and have no defenders.
Also passing out from the goalkeeper needs to be improved, too often he kicks it straight to the opposition

a choice of goal celebrations would be nice. i hate doing a klinsman all the time.

here is my sugested button functions. very easy to do. i can even give you the psuedo code for it
arrow key-move ment
sprint button. hold to run. tap to knock ball ahead. there should also be a breath metere cos u can run forever as you loose your breath and stamina.
technique button.
this button would solve all dribbling problems in a very simple way.
techniqu+sideways direction:
this checks a code when u press left or right
if (tech_button_press==1)
{horizontal_speed=x;}
//this makes the guy do a pes style shimmy as the guy is a stil facing foward but gliding sideways
you could also write it this way for more cohesion and flexibility
if (tech_button_press==1)
{moving_direction+=90;
speed=x;}
facing_direction is where your sprite is facing
moving_direction is where your sprite moves
technique+fwd = step over //this is just an animation. really does nothing but makes defenders hesitate.
technique+back= 360/heelflick. same as above. tackles will be more likely to foul
call,pass,shoot,lob just like before.
call+pass=pass to feet
call+lob=to head
call+shot= through ball
more skills:
========
add the pes stlye dummy shot and dummy lob to the game.
auto aimed moves:
==============
technique+pass = auto pass in gerneral direction
technique+lob = auto lob,cross
technique+shoot=blast shot/ chip
technque= controll ball. should have a power bar. if the bar i too full heavy touch.
could be used as fisrt touch if power is just right
layout:

awsome a place for my ideas,
- mayb a curve bar or something from free kicks, like fifa has so you can swerve around players or dip the ball
- if you play horrible fans go angry and start flairs, maybe a streaker or 2? would be fun to tackle them hahaha not in everymatch like nearing half time in an important match or sumfin
- a fake dive button like in TIF2005, so you could fake an injury and get a free kick
-a suggestion chart or box for the coach so you can say which players you think arnt pullin there weight, or you could suggest some players you think might do good for the team (like higlight the names and click disaprove or something?)
-team confidence during match, if your team gets goals scored against them easily they make more mistakes, wid passes/shots, if your team plays great better passes and that
-energy bar so you cant run on full speed all the time, and when it gets low your prown to injury faster
-like its been said above start at an early age, 7 might be to young but i think 12-13 would be nice and you play for a small club (school or somthing) and you try out for higher leauge teams when you feel your ready
- Cant play for the team you want straight away, i thinks its ridiculus you can play with arsenal or real madrid straight away, mayb if you applied a sign saying "sorry not expierenced enough" would come up, so that way you have to start out in a small team and try your best 2 get expierenced THEN you can go in2 better teams
just some ideas hope you like, ill try think of some more

I would like to see an option of changing radar colours. I find it hard to use when the 2 colours are very similar, eg white & yellow, orange & red, dk blue & black.
There's no need for that. That's why in the team selection menu you have a choice of gear to wear. Just change it from the 1st gear to the alternate if the enemy squad's colors are similiar.
Also passing out from the goalkeeper needs to be improved, too often he kicks it straight to the opposition
Passing period needs to be improved... practically 1/3rd of the passes by your teammates and by the opposing players seem to go directly to the wrong player's feet without them having to move to intercept it at all.. furthermore the thinking ability of players in relation to the free ball in play needs tweaking. Far too often the ball gets loose and heads near a player who runs away from it leaving it to be picked up by the opposing player that was much farther away.
Now on to other matters...
Earlier in this thread several people have mentioned that the defensive AI is the part of the engine that needs the most work.. that is so not the worst thing... by far the worst thing is the GK AI. The GKs currently run around like complete loonies, dive after balls that are being crossed leaving nets open, just stand and watch kicks go by without any attempt to stop them, dive after balls returning from hitting the backboards as if they think the ball is still in play, etc. Face it the GK AI is totally unstable.
As far as the drugs and alchohol goes... my suggestion is that the 0-100% meters be changed from allowing/disallowing more and instead make them into addictedness display. The more you put the substance into your body the more your body would need causing higher and higher addictiveness. If the body didn't get it's fix the player would suffer debilitating pain and other assorted withdrawal effects, but if they gave into the addiction they'd become even more addicted and would seem to 'space out' on the field or mistime kicks, etc. Furthermore as far as the drug usage goes.. it is my suggestion that instead of giving a nice 5 stat bonus each 'use' of the drugs that you make it so that while 'on' the drugs the player's body would train up at 1.5x or something like that speed instead of the normal 1x speed.. or maybe instead it'd take less energy to train them up to the same level, yes, that's better now that I think about it.
Could you maybe make the excerise equipment in the Spend menu actually help you to train better? It seems weird that you can buy excercise bikes, multi-gyms, treadmills, weight sets, etc. but you don't train up any faster (at least as far as I've seen) while using them. And maybe make the type of bed you sleep in affect how much energy you regen too as part of the formula along with the stamina stat.
Could you please make the goal celebration sequence be optional rather than your player always doing it. While you're at it could you make the participation affect things? If you celebrate your energy should go down but your relationships in the press, support, team, manager, family, friends, partner, sponsor should all either go up or down. If you don't celebrate you wouldn't lose energy but you might be seen as not being part of the team which would make things like fans and teammates go down while the boss might see you as being more mature and look at you better for instance.
Please remove the invisible zones around fouls that you can't move into and instead award yellow cards to the player for encroaching on the free kicks (if they don't leave in say 10 seconds or so) it is so annoying slamming into that invisible wall and so weird to see my player auto-hop away if I'm inside the box right when they go to the free kick ball.
And could you please for the love of god make the goal kicks stop auto-moving your player around..? It's insane how it moves around once the ai takes control and you lose the option of calling for the ball on offense and moving to block passing lanes on defense.

That has nothing to do with the problem of radar colours.
If the best choice of team colours happens to be the first team with blue shirt & white shorts, while the second team has yellow shirt & shorts, there is a chance of the radar colours being white & yellow.

1. Keepers are far to slow, and has a terrible recovery time! They often lay on the ground like a stone for 1-2 seconds, without moving at all!
2. The contact and communication between keeper and defence must be improved. Many goals have been scored just because both the keeper and a defender is running after the ball, but the defender reaches it first, and makes a terrible pass. The keeper is still very far out, and can only watch the ball roll into the open goal.
3. The defenders must be improved, they too often pass the ball in the defence, and very often lose it to the other team's attackers when they are passing it!
I hope this even will be fixed in NSS3! :)

I think that it would be nice to see other stars of the game at current there is yourself in the game and that is it.
I will explain, at the moment i play for Barcalona with of course the WORLDS BEST player ronaldiniho unfortunatley though he hardly ever plays a part in the match mainly because hes on the wing.( he never gest the ball) but in real lif he always gets the ball despite being on the wing. Even if he played in centre mid then he wouldn't be the best in the world. So many players are as good if not better them him which just simply is not true.
While i do realise that this is partly down to the NSS3 s database i also feel it is because the game is played in such a way that it is hard for the com players to shine lol. They should be taken on players more and shooting a bit more etc

You should not always be the one in control of the team I mean other players should make good contributions without you being involved
I think that's what Mad2Ad is getting at. I agree totally, it'd be nice to see the COM players go on a decent run, knocking the ball ahead a couple of times or even trying to pull off a few dummies before nailing a 25 yarder into the top corner (or at least trying to!)
I think this could be done pretty easily by an individuals style of play being more affected by the FLAIR stat.

Yeah while its nice to make your player the best in the world it would be even better if other players like challegened you they just seem to fade away. There will never be a point where there is one world class player and the rest are all very similar. Like at the moment i think most people would agree that ronaldinho is the best in the world but i would say that other players like Lampard, Shvechenko, Eto'o, Gerrard, Thierry Henry( the list goes on and on) are not too far behind him whereas in NSS3 there is in most peoples game yourself and thats it.

also things like the super cup and world club cup maybe friendlies with your nation as well and also make it harder to recieve call ups as not too many players from the conference would get into the Scotland/England squads..
1. manager profiles with:
- favourite tactic (in this tactic his team will always/the most play)
- team mentality (defensive/offensive)
- play style (long/ short passes)
- attacking style (positioning attack/fast attacks)
2. referees profiles with:
- how often he gives yellow and red cards
- how often he uses his whistle (for example english referee don't use it as much as other countries)
3. new actions in game:
- sprint (moves faster but easier for opponent to tackle)
- dribble (moves slower but more difficult for opponent to tackle)
4. more fouls and cards because it was sometimes unrealistic with this (no fouls and cards in matches)
5. psychical atributes:
- agression (it was in other posts)
- adaptibility (time after which new player in club will play on his normal level- player after transfer must ,,feel" his new team and teammates)
- psychical strength (if player doesn't play as much as he wanted, he can feel very bad and want to change this or later move to another club)
6. in match coaches commentary to correct our play (for example: 1. each positions have area in which he has to play- if we are running ,,where we want" our rating will go down and we will see coache's commentary ,,play on your position!" 2. if you are playing on midfield or attack and you aren't running with ball (but not too much) there can be ,,take some play on you", or if you are dribbling on centre defence: ,,don't dribble near our goal area!"
7. better defnsive line play. there is football rule: ,, attack wide but defence near centre"- side defenders shouldn't be near pitch lines but near centre!
Mad2Ad
05-01-2006, 09:54 AM
yeah these are good i,like the manager profiles and the ref profiles aswell but that would only be small because you dont wanna waste some memory on the profile of refs.
someone said earlier that when dribbling if you are a good dribbler then you could do skills and tricksntumeg a defender or cruyff turn them etc this was a very good idea
something about even 10 referees on each league is enough. or from each country 2-3 referees who will be in ALL leagues matches.
about dribbles: i dont think that different moves will be able to do, so when dribble player could just run slower.
and here are my another ideas:
1. easier one on one situations (in real it isnt much problem with this, but here...)
2. maybe shooting shouldnt be with cursor, but like in pes 5: we just choose corner where shoot (left, centre, right)
3. GKs could ,,live" on the pitch- go out to passes and crosses sometimes (crosses maybe in area of 5 metres)
4. there was something in other posts about player's role in club (on this could gives auto stats in editor). there could some young players have potential role too. for example:
Jarosław Fojut (Bolton)
current role- bench
potential role- 1st team player
and his stats will improve in 2-3 years to become 1st team player.
5. GKs should punch balls to side or on corner. only after the most difficult shoots or big mistakes ball goes to centre on 6-7th meter.
6. Champions league qualifications and uefa cup- it was surely in other posts, but it should be enough rounds that teams from EACH country could play there (like kazakhstan teams for example)
7. its to easy to become world star even on the most difficult level. it could be possibility to dont appear in world football (no lucky, not enough good play or no good opponents- there are many of these in real life). a lot of players play just in 2nd, 3rd and lower leagues...
8. the youngest players (under 19 years) could have ,,minuses" to their skills named ,,inexperience". after end 18 years or play enough matches (here could be number, or time of player's adaptability) he will have normal skills.
i had more ideas but i forget them... maybe later

I would just like to give a few suggestions for this game i already think its a great but I think this game still could become brilliant
1) Firstly i think the stats should be increased to like 50 or 60 instaed of 30 because at the moment it is way to easy to max your stats even on expert and maybe also increase the amount of energy training requires from 30% to like 50%
2) I think there should be reserve teams for clubs and u21 teams for nations because its really unrealistic to be starting for your club when you are only 16.So you should start in the reserves and only when you start performing really well should you be given a chance with the first team
3) Also it should be alot more difficult to get into the starting lineup because it is really unrealistic to always start even when you are only 16 and even if you are playing really ****. Your performance should also have a large impact on your selection and not just your confidence. It should also be alot easier to lose your place in the starting lineup from poor performance just as in real life unless you are very important to the club then the manager would be more tolerent of poor performance.
4) Thje game is way to easy when especially when cheating and training all the time instead of playing. I think there should be an injury proneness included so that by training all the time or too much leads to more frequent injuries therfore punishing you by reducing your attributes. Also there should be specific timetables for training like twice a week when you are allowed to train so you dont tire yourself out before games by training just before a game.
5) The items you buy should have a more important role for example buying more expensive clothes should increase your image faster or buying more expensive gym equipment should help in your training.
6) Captaincy should return and should be given to players who perform well consistently
7) Cpu players attributes should also increase and decrease during game
8) Since there are other players in your team you should be able to form personal relationships with them like friendships or rivalries. Friends could try and help you out eg when you in debt or in training etc and rivals are consistently trying to screw you. Friends should still pass to even when your realtionship with team is poor while rivals will try never to pass to you
9) You should also recieve instructions from the manager on how he wants you to play before the game and at half time and praise or critisism from him. Following his instructions should increase your relationship with him while not should decrease relations
10) More tournaments eg Uefa Cup ,World Club Cup
11) You should recieve offers even when not listed and also alot more transfers for cpu players and even when you are listed you should not just recieve offer after offer until you accept one but rather recieve interest from a few clubs who approach you and have these clubs try to compete for your signature and if you reject them all then you have to wiat for other clubs to become interested.
12) Pre season club friendlies aswell as international friendlies where internation managers could give you your debuts
13) More realistic cpu results coz its really weird seeing teams like arsenal ,inter milan and juventus getting relegated and i was wondering Si if you could tell me how these cpu results get calculated and do they depend on the players in the squad or the team rating or what?
Please dont change the graphics to some fancy 3d graphics i think its the current graphics and gameplay that make this game so fun and addictive. Usually trying to implement fancy graphics leads to a really **** game with great graphics
Thanks Si for this great game and know some of these suggestions have been raised before in the forum and hope many of them will be implemented in NSS4
maybe we should be off first eleven when our average rating from last 5 matches will be under 6.5,
actually graphics are very good, but in 3d maybe it could be better. i think 3d could be more realistic (for example one on one with goalkeeper).
maybe before matches screens should be:
1- 1st eleven of first team (names on pitch or photos of players (not real but from nss) with label)
2- 1st eleven of 2nd team (names on pitch or photos of players (not real but from nss) with label)
3- 1st team's bench of both teams
4- injured players of both teams (it could be on the same screen as bench players)
5- and on end, when players are going on the pitch: teams comparison- for example:
POS M PTS W D L GS GC GD
1. Chelsea London 37 91 29 4 4 72 21 51
10. Wigan Athletic 37 51 15 6 16 43 48 -5
there could be some music when we are watching these screens (in european cups ,,Champions league theme", in leagues another song. and maybe after win cup or league we could hear ,, we are the champions"- it gives about 3 songs at all)
it's me again :).
i think that in lower leagues shoul be pitches in worse condition, what will make minuses to our skills in these matches: technique, pace and passes, and make easier to get injured.
maybe there could be in nss injuries which we can catch without contact with another player- for example like ronaldo or messi- they where just running.
in home matches players could have pluses to skills, and when stadium is really big and full, pluses would be bigger.
teams from lowers divisions should have in matches opposite world or national class:
at home- pluses (they want to show that they can play football too)
away- minuses (rival's stadium and huge for them attendance make them ,,smaller")
1. Ability to go to hairdresser, could be in the spend menu.
2. A chance to get ill not only of injuries, fever, cold, flu, etc., and you maybe have to buy medicine.
3. Chronic injuries, strikes back all the time...
4. The ability to treat an injury, so you can get faster back on the pitch again. :) (For a cost, of course)
5. Style stat? If you have nice clothes, and are good looking, you'll get faster girlfriends and other advantages.

Well, although 3D graphics aren't going to be soon, I believe NSS has to reach that stage eventually. It's part of the natural evolution of games, to be honest, and I'd like them myself, but Si has a great engine and I'd have all confidence in him to make a good game with good graphics.
