Ok, here are the contenders for the first ever goal of the month competition...
http://replays.newstargames.com/GOTM_NOV/NovemberContenders.zip
Unzip the files into your Game\Replays folder to view them.
Goal 1 - Anders Mattsson - Pro
Dribble1.rep - Sweden v Estonia
Anders takes the ball into the box with 3 defenders around him but after a neat bit of dribbling he leaves them in his wake and only the keeper stands in his way. With a cool head and a deadly right foot he neatly buries the ball in the top corner.
Goal 2 - Trevor Evans - Amatuer
Freekick1.rep - England v Malta
Almost 50 yards from goal, Trev stands over the ball. Surely he can't shoot from here? Well, if you think that, then you don't know Trevor Evans. He knows no boudaries in this game.
Goal 3 - Sebastien Serrano - Amatuer
Header1.rep - Halifax v Burton Albion
Jacobs hoofs the ball high into the box, in true lower league style. The keeper comes to collect it but Seba leaps high into the air to nod the ball over keeper and defender and into the goal. The Halifax players were screaming at the ref claiming it was a handball but the ref was having none of it. Not surprising when there are no handballs in NSS3. After the game Seba is quoted, "If it was handball, it was the hand of God."
Goal 4 - Alexis Cordoso - Amatuer
Lob1.rep - Istres v Le Havre
As the ball sails out wide of the penalty box it looks like a lost cause, but Al Ecks never gives up. He controls the ball before it goes out of play and gets his head up. I've no doubt that he saw his team mate screaming for a cross on the edge of the six yard box, but Alexis only had one thing on his mind. With the most delicate of lobs from the tightest of angles he lifts the ball over the keeper and into the goal.
Goal 5 - Michael Gormley - Amatuer
Lob2.rep - Scotland v Bosnia-Herzegovina
Gormley makes his way down the left flank then turns and heads for goal. With a defender on his tail and another coming across to block his route to goal the likelihood of getting a shot on target looks doubtful. Gormley knows all about doubters though and again puts them to shame by pulling off one of the most outrageous lobs you'll ever see. A shot that initially looks like it's heading for row Z loops and bends to finally nestle ever so sweetly into the far corner.
Goal 6 - Ross Fraser - Amatuer
LongRange1.rep - Ross County v Dunfermline
Ross picks the ball up in his own half and neatly takes it between two defenders. 50 yards from goal and he unbelievably decides to pull the trigger. At first the ball looks like it's heading straight for the keepers hands but it curls wickedly away from him at the last second and into the bottom corner of the goal.
Goal 7 - Dion Gatsios - Amatuer
NiceMove1.rep - Wolves v Arsenal
As Pires approaches the Wolves penalty box he has Henry and Gatsios both making their runs ahead of him. Henry is being marked well as Gatsios cuts in from the right flank with one eye on the offside trap and the other on the goal. A quick "To me!" from goggle-eyed Gatsios and Pires picks him out with a perfectly weighted pass. With a quick flick of the right boot Gatsios chips the ball over the keeper and into the net perfectly. It's no wonder they call him "Dynamo".
Goal 8 - Alexis Cordoso - Amatuer
Screamer1.rep - Queens Park v East Fife
A second goal from Al Ecks this month shows just what a class act he is developing into. What seperates this 20 yard beauty from the deluge of others this month is the neat bit of skill that Cordoso shows to shrug off the tight defender and earn some space to get the shot in. And what a shot!
Goal 9 - Ingsoc - Amatuer
Volley1.rep - Independiente v Banfield
Aguero lofts the ball into the box from the set piece and picking out Ingsoc (AKA Diego) perfectly. With a defender closing him down fast he has to act quickly and boy does he do that. With a swift wave of his magic wand he catches the ball on the volley and hits it straight past the keeper. A trademark goal from Insoc.
Goal 10 - Alex Strigen - Pro
Volley2.rep Sunderland v Chelsea
Another fine volley to round up this months collection of golden goals, this time from Chelsea's multi-million pound man, Alex Strigen. Some nice build up play from Chelsea sees Essien chipping the ball into Strigen's path. A quick shuffle to the side to adjust his position and Strigen lets fly with a deadly half volley. The keeper dives manages to get across his goal but it's too late from him and too accurate from Strigen as the ball flies delightfully into the top corner.
So there it is. Our Goal Of The Month entries for November. I know there will be some disappointed players out there and some of you will disagree with some of the choices we've made, but we wanted to show the variation of goals that are possible in NSS3 whilst maintaining a high quality throughout.
Don't forget to vote!

Lob2 made by Michael Gormley is the best of them all:D
Thanks for the kind words on the goal guys :D
I've got to say that the freekick was an absolute belter btw!

For future competitions can we get a poll where you can't see who is winning? it would add some suspense... :)

Si, Thanks for that nice description on my goal. It was great.
Luky for all contenders.

2 of my goals in the top 10 :) That's great... I find there are really a lot of great goals... I think I have to try better goals :)

This will probably prompt lots of, "That goal was better than such and such goal in the top 10", but what the hey. There were some close calls, like Shumbu and Statto's goals, and Gungir scored some crackers, but as I said, I wanted to show a mixture of goals for the final 10. :)

didn't you say there would be an .avi form of them?
btw: my beautiful dribbling goal is in the shortlist :)
go and watch it :)

Yea, but still I think taking the goal you did from me was a right chose. Dribbling like that in a national team match is beautiful. But some of the others goals was very nice... to bad that the one I'm voting on isn't winning :(
I've unzipped them to the correct place... How do I view them?
siread

I tended to be a bit harsh on the dribbling if it was Amatuer level. It's too easy to dribble round slow teams on that level.

Yes, i've been meaning too but I want to change the program so it saves them at normal speed. Slow motion is too slow.
I voted for Volley 2.
Thanks, Si. For some reason it wasn't working before.

it was bettwen longrange1 and lob2, and seeing as lob2 didnt really need my vote due to the amount it already had i went for longrange, but they were about equal :)

Hmmm, few votes. Hope this gets more noticed because i dont think only that 18 voters entered the GOTM competition. Whatever, i voted for volley 2 not because lob 2 doesnt need help its only because i liked it more, the only special think of the lob 2 is that it gets in the top corner but if he really tried to center then it would be a lucky goal, I have made similar goals trying to center the ball they only dont get at the exact top corner. (My apologies if he reeeaally tried to shoot).
And as statto said it would be great if the poll results couldnt be seen making it more interesting and more people would vote because they really dont know who is winning, so they vote for their real favorite not the one that is winning or the one that need help like Chester Guy's (no offense here).
Well, its a good contest and im waiting for the next one. (one of my 5 goals sent made it... but only to the shortlist :( )
And could lose Flintoff Sports Personality of the Year and gift it to Crouch. :D

how i haven't got more votes i do not know... haha.
can no one see its in the top corner without bouncing from the halfway line. also, have you seen the way it bends towards the keeper then at the last second it swerves into the top corner out of the keepers reach??? i must admit i am losing to 2 awesome goals, but i still think mine is the best as i am biased and love my goal.
good luck to all!!!

Great description!!!!!! I love this contest.
But how about making contests between difficulty levels? One for amateur, another one for pro and one for expert? And after that, the best 3 goals enter the final poll? What do you think?
Bye:p

You should post before the description of the selected replays, how many goals you received in total this month selection.
I'm going for longrange1. What a goal from such a distance. Best goal by far
corazzin
12-08-2005, 06:59 PM
Well, I have got quite a feeling that a lot of people that have voted for the current leader are newly registered players.
Yesterday that goal wasīnt even top three. I am not being a sore loser (my goal is third) because the way I saw it, lob 2 was to far ahead of me.
But itīs pretty obvious what has happened here after what, seven consecutive votes for that goal?
Siread, any chance of changing the rules for the goal of the month? Ie, you have to be a member for a certain period or something else?
RossF
12-08-2005, 08:19 PM
Yeah well it was me that scored that goal corazzin and I know nothing about it.
Tbh, I agree with Corazzin. I had a feeling that someone was going to catch my goal, but I thought it would be Volley2, considering it had seen a steady rise in votes over the past few days.
I know it sounds like sour grapes (and I am a little gutted! :D), but I find it a wee bit strange that one goal collects a shedload of votes 3/4 of the way through the competition and at such a rapid rate.
RossF
12-08-2005, 08:19 PM
I think you kind of are being a sore loser mate because you are implying that I am a cheater which is not fair at all. I have nothing to do with this newly registered thing so I feel it is unfair that I am getting the blame for something I have not done. Maybe people just like my goal? I was proud of it and over the moon to see my name on this shortlist but I am unhappy now that I am being accused of being a cheat. I would not give negative replies to anyone if this happened. I do not want to start an arguement about this but I am just unhappy that these posts have been posted.

12-08-2005, 08:29 PM
Well, I am quite convinced that something fishy is going on. Of the first 30 votes, you had just a couple. Now all of a sudden you have 12. I find it quite incredible that 9 or 10 people finally decide to vote and they all vote for you.
Considering the difference in all the votes prior to this I find it amazing. And then someone with no prior history in here suddenly says, oh what a nice goal.
Any chance of checking up the registration date on those who have voted?
RossF
12-08-2005, 08:31 PM
Yeah well don't think I had anything to do with it. If I wanted to win this, I would want to win it fair and square. What could I of possibably done anyway? I am actually quite insulted about these accusations
corazzin
12-08-2005, 09:18 PM
Well, I am quite positively sure about my stand in this question. So if you feel insulted youīll have to live with it.
There is no way this vote has gone on legit.
RossF
12-08-2005, 09:39 PM
You would not be complaing if you were in my position. Admit it. As a matter of fact you would be defending yourself, but not against me anyway, even if you were cheating I would just sit and watch the votes. Jees o. Simon has made this up for a bit of fun and you are accusing people of cheating already?! Dont deny it, it was a good goal I scored along with the others. It's just a bit of fun.

I agree with corazzin, new members shouldnt be able to vote right away, maybe a few posts or being really an active member.
Im not accusating anyone but its curious how that many votes went to just one person in... a day?. This is suspicious specially when DAFC (the only one who posted that he voted for longrange1) has the same name of the team badge that appear in RossF's avatar  , its just...interesting.

Woah, don't get me wrong mate, I am a but of a sore loser and I don't deny it :D

Even if you were cheating I would just sit and watch the votes. Jees o. Simon has made this up for a bit of fun and you are accusing people of cheating already?!
First: I wouldīnt be cheating.
Second: I am not accusing people, I am saying that I belive that you have mucked up your own vote by registering members. Two members have supported you in this thread. Both have written their first ever posts and one of them has the same nick as your clubbadge.
The other day around 30 people had voted and your goal had just a few votes. Now, nine votes later itīs all of a sudden 12 votes. Itīs obvious that youīve rigged votes to get your goal on top because considering how the first 30 votes went there is no chance in hell that you will catch nine consecutive votes.
Third: This is supposed to be a bit of fun but itīs totally wasted if someone mucks up the whole competition like this.

12-08-2005, 10:29 PM
I agree whit you corazzin, it's very strange that in one day it gained 9 votes (or something), this is very suspicious:confused:
Jay-Jay
12-08-2005, 11:57 PM
Im disqualifying goal number 6
And let this lesson be learned by all, future poll rigging will result in the following:
Goal entry being disallowed.
member making new id's to vote being banned for at least 1 week from the forum.
sireads pet hamster fluffy being sent round to sort you out.
Really do we need to cheat, are we not a community who want NSS to grow... Come on some people need to sit back and have a think if this forum is the place for them.
Jay-Jay rant over with...for now!
p.s I can see everything, i can see who voted for who, what time you voted, your email address your IP address so don't cheat otherwise we will stop the comp and everyone will lose out.
RossF
12-09-2005, 08:08 AM
You can say all you want. I'm not cheating however and I'm sticking by this. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't this meant to be a bit of fun which has turned serious thanks to one person moaning about this? This is not something I'm going to daft about as I know that it is a 'bit of fun'. Congratulations to the scorer of lob2 anyway. I feel that you deserved it anyway but I still know that I did not cheat. I've got better things to do than cheat on some Goal of the month competetion
Corazzin I had nothing to do with the posts. I do not know DAFC but I know RaNcE well. He is a good friend of mine and he is the only one I know who voted for my goal. I told him to look at the forum on NSS and he though he should reply. He has actually been a member of the site for some time (or so he says)
But anyway it does not bother me well done again to lob2. I hope I can win next months competetion (without being accused of cheating!)

Corrazin, I have actually found out what the problem is. I told some of my friends about this goal of the month thing and that i am in it, at school. Without telling me (until today) I have just found out that they have registered to this website just to vote for me so quite clearly it is not me that has been cheating. My 'friends' have voted for me without me forcing them to do anything at all. am not pleased about this as my goal has been kicked out for something I haven't done. Though this was only meant to be a bit of fun. Well, anyway well done hI7 on winning and I feel, Corrazin, that you should be ashamed for accusing me that I am cheating. So I feel that I deserve an apology from you Corazzin for accusing me as cheat and there will be no hard feelings.
Gungnir
12-09-2005, 05:26 PM
To stop cheating:
1. Have closed voting so you cant see which goals are leading.
2. Only members that was members when the competition started (from the 1:st each month) can vote.
3. If possible, check that the goals have been downloaded. Lock the IP adress or something until the goals have been downloaded.

Those are definitely all nice goals... The only thing I can seem to do is hit the ball 1000 feet over the goal! Oh well, I'm assuming my shot will be a little more powerful when my skill points increase. As for the 'shot meter'... Does that control the height of your shot, or the power? Or both?
