New Features for NSS3

I've started planning NSS3, so nows the time to request new features.

Anything minor might be able to make it into version 2.11 that i will release next week. If you can think up some new incidents, or lines of text you want included in the match then be sure to speak up.

Version 2.11 features:

- Nicer interface. (New font, better colour picking system, nicer buttons.)
- Some minor bug fixes.

Possible features for NSS3 are:

- Training mini-games. You'll have to control a player and dribble around cones, pass, shoot etc to increase your stats. (This will be in a window similar to the horse racing.)
- Match mini-games. Put your passing, shooting, dribbling skills to the test on match day.
- Driving mini-game. If you're late for training you'll have to jump into your Aston Martin and floor it.
- Improved promotion/relegation system. (Not all divisions promote and relegate 3 teams.)

So if you have any opinions on those things or have other suggestions, let me know. As for real player names in the game, well, this will probably be the major plan for NSS4, for now i'm concentrating on the action side of things. (It's a long road to the perfect football game. :D )

I'd love to increase the incidents as much as possible, but it's hard to keep coming up with new ideas. If you can think of new incidents then let me know. Would people mind if the same incident cropped up maybe every couple of seasons? If not then i can increase the frequency of incidents.

Most of that can be implemented Jay-Jay. I'm thinking about adding at least a couple of strikers to all the top teams so that we can have a top scorers list.

Cool on the list of things, player manager would be a fantastic option, but imagine it could make the game quite difficult for too code and a while!!

Relationships with clubs remain constant. I'm not sure if this happens in NSS2, but in the original if you leave a club with low manager, player and fan relationships and you come back not long afterwards it starts again in the middle. Fair enough the manager and a few players might change and over time the relationships might not be as bad as they were, but I doubt they'd be the same as towards a new player.

I quite like the screen at the moment, as I have broadband and have so many other interests going on, on the net. It nice to be able switch to and use messenger. Full screen as in CM means you can't use messenger and you have to use ctrl and tab to see different windows I also find on CM ctrl and tab has a liking for crashing the game

-when signing on contract there need to be more conditions and bonuses(for scoring a goal or championship bonus like in CM or TCM).
-also agents need to be aded and to offer you to clubs (there should be an option to signs or try to signs in club you want to play for).
-option to retire whenever you want.

good idea but to do that, then the sponsers should be able to sue for breach of contract you could end up losing money. But if you could do this at a later date i.e you have £xxxx contract with a major sports company and you've find out that the said company has been supplying money for drug running,etc. Then you could cancel your contract to make a morel stand.

Same thing happens to me, which is very frustrating. Plus if you're from some place where the league is not represented you are always abroad which sucks.

Perhaps moving a country would make your friend rating go down drastically since you're far away from them.

That I think is the part of the game that could improve the most, the relationships. But don't turn it into the Sims I guess, I don't like that.

That has been mentioned too. The problem is that every division has individual ratings, so a team with a rating of 1 can drop through the leagues like a lead weight. Which is of course unrealistic.

I proposed in the past that Si, greaten the scale from 1-9 ratings to 1-50 or something to cover teams in the whole league - that would make national friendlies, international friendlies and cup matches much more realistic. ie... Rushden and Diamonds rated 10. Arsenel rated 45. Not them both rated 9 or 10.

I also recommended a random change in team rankings every season to generate good and bad spells for teams.

This is not the case. A teams rating is relative to their division, so imagine it like this...

Arsenal (Premiership: 5 x 9 = 45)

At the very start of the game goto Editor and you will see, I always change Bolton Wanderers :wink:

Oh ok. My mistake. Did you change that or has it always been like that. Cos I know we used to have problems with premier teams rated 1 dropping like rocks through the league.

Also a problem with that Si......is that when for example.

Also what if this happens....

Or are you applying a random variation between years to allow team to get better or worse through the years as teams tend to....stop those leads weight or lhelium filled teams going up on down the leagues like crazy.

I would like to see the UEFA Cup and CL Qualifying maybe, because I had to edit the game so that the Norwegian league etc became a little more interesting (along with some others).

And I don't know if you could do some kind of graphical thing in NSS3 with BlitzBasic, but something where you can see what's going on before you pick the command button and then you can choose high/low pass to the person on your team of your choice, maybe this is impossible but who knows?

More transfer and contract options. You can ask a team to come and get you. Girlfriend has looks so you can see what she looks like. You can interact with other people a lot more especially family, girlfriend and manager.

signing on bonus would be nice :shock: (i am currently struggling with my £41 mill!!)

also on the contract side you can have goal bonus, free contract if the the team get relegated.

Well nice to see you have a refund policy ... and it is very obvious i am unhappy with the unfinished half of a product.... so id like my refund. It says if im unsatisfied with it for any reason... well im def unsatisfied and im unsatisfied that in 6 months id have to pay to get fixed what should be fixed for free.

Hiya some people are not willing to pay for the game, it is very cheap compared to others on the market in response to your 3 years playability a lot of members here will disagree with you this game has a long term playability you can play in lots of different leagues and win lot's of special items etc.

Obviously your code will then be unusable in future releases, but judging by your comments i doubt you'll be playing it anyway. Maybe some some suggestions for improvement would be more helpful than just criticising the game. Don't forget, I am a one man design/programming/marketing team (with help from the brilliant Jay-Jay on the forum). Surely you would agree that NSS offers you something that other football games cannot and I cannot hope to please everyone when the game is still in it's infancy. Still, I find your opinion surprising because in over a year i've only had to give a handful of refunds to dissatisfied customers. As you'll see from reviews like this, you are in the minority:

are we forgetting the people who play your game in general are a minority? I think that proves in general maybe im not the minority maybe others just chose not to buy it. I gave you my suggestion quit worrying about how many times you can release the game and take ur time and release somthing that has some quality to it... rushing version after version of the game out just to put some money in your pocket isnt making quality games... its making SO SO games that could use more work but dont even get it after the release.

the current state the game is in now it is hardly playable cept for "getting special items" and for what purpose is that? dont make it any fun... from age 21-30 you can score 100+ goals a season... what fun is that? its not.. and thats why im not satisfied... its has no real playing value cept for maybe 2 hours.... then there is not even replay value... there is free soccer games on websites that look like they were made in the 1980s for nintendo that have more fun and replay value then this game.... and thats why i feel disatisfied... ur a one man team sure... thats more reason for u to stop rushing things... maybe if you put out higher quality software more people would buy it. but you listen to your small core base of fans about pushing out as quick as you can as many as you can and youll stay just that way... small core base of fans. I dont like the fact in 6 months ill have to pay for NSS3 somthing that shoulda been a patch for NSS2 ... if your not willing to take the time to actually make a new game instead of a patch why bother? and ur use of the word perfection.... why wouldnt u make the perfect product for your fans instead of rushing a product out the door that only your fanatical fans will find good . at the pace your going you might have a real superb game around NSS4 or NSS5. but NSS2 was far from good and yes im dissatisfied with it.

I just want to say that

The car mini-game should be dangeorus, if crash you're injured and peoples respect for you dwindles.

The training mini-game should be where the coach asks if you want to stay behind, as it would become slightly repetitive doing the same training.

I like the idea of a mini-game in the match where you must take players on with the arrow keys or you see the player doing the step over and what not.

Marriage is obviously a must with huge media attention dependant on your current level. It should be very hard to get a high media attention in NSS3, it was far to easy in 2. I was playing in Division 3 for 1 or 2 seasons and got 100 percent through man of the match interviews.

Media attention should be gained slowly through man of the match interviews, but I felt that media attention grew too much. Though the higher it gets the more interest it should take and the faster the bar should raise. Something like Rooney or Owen, they got huge media attention when scoring for their country at 18, thats when you should get huge boosts, amazing feats like hat tricks in cup finals..

I also felt that it was a little too easy to score goals and take on tons of players without getting tackled. It would also of been nice for the players names of the opposition team to come up, not all of them just one or two for each team. Like Henry, Owen, RVN, Rooney and should be on the goal scoring charts.

However, I would have to suggestion FICTIONAL celebs. ie....some fictional singer, movie star strictly for the reason that Si can't use a Celeb without their consent or paying them.

Pictures of your girlfriends sounds good but make sure the girls in the photograph age too. You don't want to be in your mid thirties, married for ten years to an eighteen year old. Well maybe you would ... (but getting married to an eight year old is wrong in almost every country :wink:)

Can you introduce weather ? Windy days make high balls wayward, wet days make sliding tackles harder to control, sunny days makes your energy go down quicker. Obviously you'd have to set weather controls for different countries - eg Portugal is roasting in the summer, Scotland is freezing in the winter

we need an option to be substituted if fitness levels drop too much during match,there is currently no option and as a result as soon as fitness drops to 1/2 i always seem to get injured. i would also like to see more options to improve ratings such as working extra on the training pitch,being loaned out is cool as well,also i think it would be better to start in reserves at chosen club,best idea i can think of though is to start on a youth contract of say £50 a week in reserves and as soon as you get a good enough rating(lets say 6 matches in a row with ratings of at least 7 in each)you get offered a professional contract and promoted to 1st team.i think agents would be essential as this would give you the ability to be tapped by another club(ie. agent x says west brom are interested in you,is 25k a week reasonable?..you slap in a transfer request then west brom move in for you).one thing i thought of that im not sure about is the ability to bet on matches as i believe its illegal but one way round this would be to choose mates or family to bet for you and winning or losing should effect relationship.

NSS3 will be out sometime this year. There will definitely be lots of training challenges that pop up like the horse racing does. You will also have to score goals, play passes etc during the match. When that is complete i will add lots of the requests here to the rest of the game. (Not all.)

I use Visual C++ to make the main part of the game, and BlitzBasic for the action parts. (Given up on DirectX for now.)

Gday Everyone,

I love this game and im absolutley addicted to it and i had one idea for the next NSS game. As a few of you may have already guessed im an Aussie and over here our version of football ( Aussie Rules ) is played on a Friday Night, Saturday, Saturday Night and on Sunday.

I know it shows what day you are playing, but i thought it might be a good idea to show the time of the game and the atmosphere and enviroment of what its in.

Like for instance, here in Australia a Friday Night match is normally the most watched and recognised match played each round, where as a game on a Sunday wouldnt be recognised as much.

Same thing goes for when your a top side and your playing another top side, the atmosphere will be more alive and there is more at stake than if it were a mid ladder side against a bottom ladder side.

So maybe on the screen before the game next to the day of the game, have something like: :P

Atmosphere - Quiet / Intense / Average / Electric / No One Watching
Attendance - Between 100 - 500, 500- 1000, 1000 - 1500 etc etc

This might be asking for too much but even a little tip screen that says some thing like:

By beating TeamX this will place you 3rd on the ladder and 2 games clear of 4th.

A few things that would lift the game in depth:

Statistics per season, and not per club. I.E you can see how many games, goals, assist and average rating that you´ve had per season for the club that you´ve been playing for.
Would be a cool thing to see your worst season and best season in the statistics.
Should be simple to configure.

Another thing would be to play past 36. Alright, your skills will drop dramatically. But if I want to play conference league football at 39 then god damn it it´s my choice!!! =)

Also, some players should be prone to be able to play longer at top flight. Example if you´ve trained stamina and pace to the maximum you should be able to play longer.

I've got a few things that could be good.

-Each team has a specific colour scheme/background with their logo in the corner, kinda like how it is now but if you choose Liverpool, for example, rather than picking the colours for yourself, they come with their red and white colour scheme already. This can go into the matches as well where different teams have different colour schemes.

-Marry g/f, interract more with them, children

-Choose to go out yourself, arrange your own activities: go to cinema, gigs, park, nightclubs, And make these have other consequences, such as a trip to a nightclub could get you sprawled on the front page of the tabloids and a trip to watch a football match, such as a rival team play, could concern your manager.

-Option to play keeper

-NSS 2 often mentions teams who's stadium's capacity gets increased. Lazio's 80000 seater stadium got increased in my game. This probably wouldn't happen. But if the game included stadium attributes, as in how old they are, their condition, and their capacity.

-The chance to gamble on matches, the lottery etc.

-More penalty shoot outs.

-The ability to become the manager and to retire as a player when u want.

-Injuries don't come too regularly or they don't do as much damage as to your stats. Perhaps even an injury tolerance stat.

-Families have other ways of improving relationships, you hold events or go out with them, such as with point no. 3 .

I have a couple suggestions for any upcoming releases(I don't know if they have been said or not).

I would like to be able to play at a younger age. Start off at 14 or so and play for a club's youth squad. Possibly have a school relationship. This could be a good way to have more incidents.

I would love to see height and weight added.

Names for friends, coaches, teammates, girlfriends. Possibly have an archive of events happening with certain people.

As you finish off your career you can look back and see a list/where are they now of old girlfriends, coaches, teammates, good friends.

Instead of having a group friends rating have individual friends. Some friends have disputes, you are forced to pick sides, etc.

Be able to voice your own opnion. Instead of waiting for certain events. You should be able to state your opnions whenever. maybe have certain generic things you can say.

I want out
I love this club
I want more money
I love the fans, dislike the coach

There are many more things you can say, but I think you get the idea.

Be able to marry your girlfriend/raise a family.

More things to buy. You have tons of cars, but only 2 suits and a couple houses?

To be able to decide where you live. You play in england but live in spain during the off-season.

More detailed matches.

Goal Celebrations. "Bob Smith dashes towards his supporters, leaps into the air and pumps his fist! What a goal!"

To be able to play with minor injuries.

A U-23 national team.

Ok, sorry if this has been mentioned before but I have an idea for continuing the game...

When your with your girlfriend and you marry her (if thats put in), you can have a kid with her, that you name, and whe you retire, it skips to the year where the kid is the starting age and you continue with him, and he has your stats at retirement halfed, if that makes sense.

Example: Brad Pitt (Player) Marries Jennifer Aniston (Players Girlfriend), then, when the player is 32 (in the year 2019) he has a son who he names Geoff. When Brad retires in 2023, the game skips to 2036 as 17 year old Geoff Pitt starts his career, you could make generations of players an have hundreds of years of your legacy!

Example of the stats thing:

When Brad retires his stats are as follows:

Set Pieces: 14
Scoring: 20
Heading: 14
Dribbling: 18
Passing: 12
Tackling: 9

etc. for the rest. So when you start as Geoff you have these stats:

Set Pieces: 7
Scoring: 10
Heading: 7
Dribbling: 9
Passing: 6
Tackling: 4 (Or 5, you can round odd numbers up or down, up to the programmer)

OR: You have the combined total of half of Brad's stats to dstribute how you want, so Brad as a striker, could have a son who is a defender.

-In order to make it to more established clubs like REAL MADRID or MANCHESTER UNITED you have to be doing well on your team in order to land a tryout, or do amazing to get invited.

-To transfer from one league to another, must have enough money for a plane ticket or train to travel.

-Rewards for good results. (If you are man of the match in an important game, your club gives you a bonus or a prize or something)

-More Off pitch incidents
*Fight at a bar, could result in injury or jail time
*Girlfriend cheats on you
*Car stolen/broken into
*Dog/Cat runs away
*Family member dies/is really sick
*Fire at home
*House is broken into

-When you are a big name player and your contract is about to expire, have many popular teams request you to play for them and you get to negotiate with them all.

-Make prices and wages more realistic
*If a player doesnt own a car, make him pay for taxi or take a bus.
*Player salaries should not be $1000 if he plays for popular club
*If a player is playing for a country where soccer is not popular then they should be paid less and only get raises as they play for clubs with more big name players and are more popluar.

- There should be a league leader chart for goals, shots, assists, tackles and cards.

I have been playing the unregistered versions of NSS1 and NSS2 since lastw week,its no doubt an addictive and innovative game,i think the scope of improvement for this game is very huge ,its no doubt going to be one
helluva game in the future versions and so i am saving my money for later.
I have some ideas for the future versons,dunno if they are already in game cos i havnt been able to progress beyond the 10 games

(1)Give more match ratings if u score an equalizer or winner in the dying moments of the match

(2) in addition to the light medium and hard option in a match also add "attacking" "moderate" and "defensive" options bcos i have seen if u r a midfielder ur chances of scoring r quite low the "attack" option will generate more chances of scoring also if ur team is a goal up and to prevent any late come backs by the other team we should be able to set the player to defensive so tht he has more chances of tackling.

(3) introduce weather effect if its rainy the tackling, vision , passing,control should decrease and so on

(4)Ability to manage teams after u retire ,Since u have already created world cup 2002 and euro 2004 i guess this option wont be so difficult to add.


(5)In addition to injury there should be random incidents like the player getting jaded or going thru a bad phase in life where he has no luck(accidents,losing at the races & casino,girlfriend dumping u,car gets
stolen, rumours of u taking bribes or drugs thus drastically affecting ur relationships ...) ,or get suddenly lucky, hopefully it will make the players life more interesting

(6) if u r in the penalty box the player shud have the option to make a simulated dive i think there shud be a timing bar for this if u time ur dive well then u get a penalty if u dont then u get a card,also option to

(9) u shud be able to become captain only after u gain sufficient experience (along with other stats there shud be a stat indicating the current experience of the player) and after u prove ur loyalty to the team by giving up very lucrative offers from big teams.When u become captain u shud be able to influence the team to get more attacking or defensive depending on the situation.

(10)if u can show pictures of cars and houses theny y not images of ur girlfriend ;) maybe even real personalities(thats one way to fulfill our fantasies)

Hey dudes,
I was a mad fan of footballer of the year for the spectrum (i still play it now :D ) NSS is absolutely awesome!!! I have got all my pals at work to download it and it is all we talk about all day!
I have a few things to add for NSS3 but most have been said.

-Pictures of girlfriends, friends, family etc and ability to edit thier name ie. Your brother Danny is annoyed cause you didnt come to his birthday.
-A golf game. Cause every foootballer plays golf! So your boss/Team mate/friend/dad asks you to a round, you play if you win your boss could get annoyed/or respect you for being competitive. If you lose your boss is happy/or he gets angry cause your not competitive enough.
-u19/u21/u23 National teams.
-Hire an agent. You have to pay his wages if he doesnt get you the right offers boot him out. If he does say thanks.
-Real life incidents, Death, Burglary, fires, freak weather incidents etc.

why? Is Fifa 2005 free to those who brought Fifa 2004? Although you could argue that of course graphically there isn't a comparison, Si still needs to be rewarded somehow for the time and effort he puts into creating each version... of course, if NSS3 doesn't improve on NSS2 in any discernable way then you may have cause to make such a statement, but until then actually try thinking about it?

I don't know if these have been mentioned or not, (the list in here is incredibly long), but I was thinking that you could improve or lower relationships with other options, rather than just buying people things. Also, be specific about praising people. It'll be harder to get people to like you...ex. praise the coaches vision in bringing in a new player, or how HE has handled the media, etc.

Another idea I had was getting the referee involved. You could try to calm him down, talk to him, build a relation with him. If you insult him or something, he makes more calls against you and/or your team.
