Champions League Bug

I'm supposed to have Barcelona in my Champions League group, but for some reason when I am scheduled to play them, I play Alaves instead. They show up as Barcelona in the main screen (showing the final score), but in the match they're Alaves.

Strange:confused:......... i never heard of that bug..... are you using version 3.03?

I am using 3.03, although I've never been in the Champions League before now. I assume it's working right for everyone else...

Have you completed a season after upgrading ro 3.03? If not then this bug will be fixed in the following season.

Basically it's an old bug that gets corrected when the fixtures are recreated at the end of the season. :)

Oh, no I haven't, sorry I didn't see that this bug had been addressed

I've got the same problem with 3.04 (this is my first installed version of NSS3).

Finished on the 3rd place with Newcastle, but in the Champions League (next season) I have to play with Plymouth. Everything is the same as in deanis73 first post here.

PS. Now upgraded to 3.05.

I doesnt I play with FC Zwolle in the champions league, but I am Feyenoord. This isnt good. I'm playing 3.05 by the way.

i have the same problem, but some different. i play in sc herenveen and i played 2 matches in CL. first: Excelsior 0-3 Liberec and i have scored and assisted (it should be Heerenveen 3:0 Slavia Praha)- i played in liberec as holosko. in table i had 0 points and 0 goals but in my own stats i had goal in CL(!!!). these two teams don't play in CL in this season. the second match was excelsior- dortmund (in real heerenveen- dortmund). i was played on centre defense. in 05 version

This bug should correct itself in the following season if you are using version 3.05 or later (current version is 3.07).

If you see this bug 2 seasons in a row, then please let me know and send the save file to siread@newstarsoccer.com. :)

I started a game in 3.0, just started a new season, and I'm playing as Betis rather than Real Madrid (my team) when in the Champions League. Sending the save file...

I now am in season 3 and still it is not fixed through fixture update. Now I am NAC and still not Feyenoord.

originally with cherno more varna 1913 in bulgarian league but got transfered to barcelona and there i have the champs league problem... appear as celta vigo

in the previous version i was ajax, but showed up as twente, then stuttgart and showed up as aachen

Got the same or even worse problem(s).

1. Can't play with my team in Champions League (2nd season in a row - my team is Newcastle). Previous season I had to play with Plymouth (instead of Newcastle), and now - Man Utd.
2. Something is wrong with schedule. But maybe it'll be better if I will send u ma save file, because it's hard to explain.

lol.... now it got fixed by itslelf.... i was barcelona and was supposed to play newcastle in 2nd round... and was ok... too bad i was injured

I'm running v 3.08, and it worked fine for the first season that I was in the Champions League (that was in 2007-2008, I transferred in January to a team that was in the League), but I qualified again for 2008-2009, and I'm playing as Crystal Palace rather than Chelsea.:(

Is the game looking at the position of the team ticked as 'in 1st Champions League' in the original data, and then transposing it over the team in the same alphabetical position each season? Or is it something more random?

The ECL fixtures store the league, division and team number, so Chelsea are team no.7 in the English Premier league. The following season though after promotions and relegations, the team numbers weren't updating. So if say, Burnley were promoted, as their name starts with 'B' they slot in above Chelsea and Chelsea should then become team number 8. As the numbers weren't updating Chelsea would appear in the match as a team either side of them, such as Charlton who would be the new team number 7.

I thought i fixed it by verifying the team names (which were appearing in the ECL tables correctly) with the team number, but i obviously missed something.

How odd, it seems to be working now. Of course, it worked on rare occasions before the fix, but while it didn't work the first time, I had saved just before the match, didn't save after, played again, and it did work. And it worked in the next 3 champions league matches. So maybe it is mostly fixed? I have no idea how it would only happen some of the time, though :confused:

If you read Si's post above, you'll see why :confused:

It's just the case that your team may not be put out of synch by promotions or relegations, and therefore retain the same 'number' as the previous season, meaning they play in the ECL as themselves.

But this was the exact same match, played in the same version, didn't work once (apparently out of synch), loaded it up, played it again and it did work (apparently in synch); the relegations/promotions from before the season hadn't changed at all, so if it were out of synch once it should be out of synch again... I'm really confused... Sorry :confused: :confused: :confused:

Every time you load a game it should check the Champions League fixtures and correct any that have out of synch teams. Did you finish a season, play the first ECL game, notice is wasn't right then re-load your game?

That may explain it.

Yup, that was exactly it. Didn't save and quit between the end of the season and the Champions League match. Thanks!
