Hi guys. I want to include real squad data in the next version of Sensational World Cup but I need your help. Attached to this post you will find 2 csv files. These contain the data for the Nations and the Players.

Nations.csv
Most of this data is correct. All we need to fill in is the preferred formation column and keeper kits. If you are aware of the 'usual' formation for a national team, please fill in this column. The formation choices are:

1 = 3-4-3
2 = 3-5-2 A (with DM, CM and AM)
3 = 3-5-2 B (with 3 CMs)
4 = 4-2-2-2
5 = 4-2-4
6 = 4-3-3
7 = 4-4-1-1
8 = 4-4-2 A
9 = 4-4-2 B (with DM and AM diamond midfield)
10 = 4-5-1
11 = 5-3-2

For keeper kits kShirt2 should be the same as kShirt1 (unless you want a striped keeper kit!) You can test your new settings by replacing the Nations.csv in c:/Program Files/Sensational World Soccer/Media/Data/.

Squads.csv
The squad file needs LOTS of data. Firstly the file currently contains the 30 man squad lists. Players not in the official 23 man squads should be deleted.

The following fields need to be completed:
Pace, Dribbling, Tackling, Passing, Shooting, Goalkeeping, Skin, Skin, Hair, Boots

Skill ratings should be from 1-20. (If left as zero the game will generate skills based on national team rank.)

Skin colours are as follows:
LIGHT = 1, MEDIUM = 2, DARK = 3, BLACK = 4, ASIAN = 5
(If left as zero then skin colour will be based on nation's primary and secondary skin colours.)

Hair colours are:
BLACK = 1, BROWN = 2, BLOND = 3, RED = 4, GREY = 5
(If left as zero then hair colour with be black or brown.)

Boot colours are:
RANDOM = 0, BLACK = 1, WHITE = 2, RED = 3, GREEN = 4, BLUE = 5, YELLOW = 6, LIGHT BLUE = 7, GOLD = 8, PURPLE = 9, ORANGE = 10, SILVER = 11
If a real player doesn't have a usual boot colour then set this as 0 (random) or 1 (black).

We will need to collaborate with the Squads.csv file, so let's try to work together. If you know a national team very well then please edit that section (don't forget to delete players not in the final squads) and attach your csv file to this thread. Then we can cut and paste each section into one glorious master file!

Thanks! :D

Can we maybe rob a lot of the basic stats for the players from a copy of Football Manager, or base them on them anyway rather than creating afresh?#

I don't own a copy as don't have the time for those life absorbing games anymore!

Also out of interest, how do you get updates for the DRM free files now? Are you releasing patches, or do we have to request a new download?

Si, any chance we get extra nations or an option to Randomize groups? i feels weird to play the same teams if you play the same nation a few times.

Would be better to put in World cup qualification instead. However, this would make the DB huge and a hell of a lot of work. (Are you really Scottish/Welsh? :D)

i have just started to edit the file. i have taken some values from FM2010.

GK:
Pace | Dribbling | Tackling | Passing | Shooting | Goalkeeping
Pace | Dribbling | 1 on 1 (GK) | Throwing (GK) | Kicking (GK) | (Aerial + Command of Area + Comm. + Handling + 1 on 1 + Refl. + Rushing Out)/7

Player:
Pace | Dribbling | Tackling | Passing | Shooting | Goalkeeping
Pace | Dribbling | Tackling | Passing | (Finishing + Long Shots + Free Kicks)/3 | 0

maybe someone could make a script which takes out the values of the FM database and calculates the values

Im on it, making a little app that allows you to customise your own groups or randomize them. Shouldnt be long now.

Randomize groups is in the next update. :)

Ah, ok. I'll still see if I can my little prog running, because your comma-delimited file is giving vb.net a bit of a spaz with auto-quotes.

I have updated the Squads.csv in the first post. This should now have all of the correct 23 man squads. All we need now is player data! :D

OK, I am going to start doing some player stats I think.

I will be doing Algeria & USA. Once I have finished those, ill do another 2 or 3.

EDIT: Im also doing Chile.

EDIT 2: Im basing most of these ratings off Football Manager 2010 up to the point of 17th June 2010 in-game, so they are more accurate than start of the game stats as growth is (sort of) accounted for.
I am going by HaGi's system mainly.

Where does the Squads.csv file actually go? Can't seem to find an original anywhere.

I have done both Algeria & USA, i'll do Chile in a little bit, but im having problems with Excel at the moment.

i'll do germany and netherlands at first

edit:
i have to correct my system a little bit, because most of the keepers have a 0 in the dribbling attribute

Pace | Dribbling | Tackling | Passing | Shooting | Goalkeeping
Pace | Rushing Out (GK) /3 | 1 on 1 (GK) | Throwing (GK) | Kicking (GK) | (Aerial + Command of Area + Comm. + Handling + 1 on 1 + Refl. + Rushing Out)/7

There is no squad file in the current version but it will go in the Data folder in the next update.

OK, ive finished Chile now.

Once I can get the data entered into Excel files, ill post them up, and might do another couple of teams.

hey brad,

i just found an error in my system.

for forwards shooting should be calculated like this:
(Finishing*4 + Long Shots + Free Kicks)/6

they are not as good as midfielders when it's calculated normally.
for GK's dribbling ability i choose Rushing Out/3.

Yeah, I used (Finishing*3+Long Shots + Free Kicks)/4 which seems about right for strikers.

Once I have uplaoded them we can all make sure they are right and change if necessary to get a right balance.
