I haven't finished the season yet, so correct me if I'm wrong, but a good idea could be the ability to train a few stats at the end of a season. I'm not saying control yourself for the whole pre-season, but for example we can have skill points etc from the pre-season, as this is what happens in real life. Footballers carry on training, even though they have a break.
Another idea I just thought of is the ability to go on holiday in pre-season. Maybe this helps with energy or something. A suggestion anyway

just been thinking about it but with this pre-season bit, you could make it out like when your doing a trial. Like you pick say 3 or 4 skills then do the training. Failing to complete these sessions could mean you lose a point + maybe lose abit of confidence for having a bad pre-season.
Just an idea :)

I think Fry Crayola suggested something similar. I just didn't have time. Maybe in the future though.
