Right as i said in my old thread im very keen to get this out to you guys. As im sure most of you are looking forward to robs huge mod, im releasing this just as a "pure" 2010 mod with all 12 teams & 24 drivers, and now all the 2010 tracks!!!.
Ive made lots of changes and additions so read on below!!

RELEASE
v.1.0= Added 3 new teams. Teams with all 2010 liveries/drivers.Updated interface background images. Updated all teams stats to real life performance. Tweaked engine file for added realism.


UPDATES
v.1.1= Sebastian Vettel Name corrected.
v.1.2= Updated News page.
v.1.3= Tweaked Fuel, drift and tyre settings In engine file.
v.1.4= Tweaked Global Handling setting In engine file.
v.1.5= Fixed major track bug at turkey, and tidied Db file.
v.1.5a= Fixed major track bug at bahrain.
v.1.6= Revised source hairpin at spa.
v.1.6a= Fixed another track bug at turkey also fixed AI donuting at bahrain exit from pits.

v.2.0 beta= Season calendar now to 2010 schedule. Added canada and hockemheimring. Fixed font sizes on profile pages, given official gp names, and updated the circuit layout images.
v.2.1= All 19 2010 races in official order, including KOREA!! and more tweaks.
v.2.2= Fixed further font size issues, few tweaks at korea and changed the collision size on the side of cars, now the ai should leave more of a gap beside you!
v.2.3= Fixed bug at new spa source hairpin, and reverted collisions settings back to release default. No more over aggressive ai!
v.2.4= Tweaked Ai Collision attributes, they should allow a bit more room. Hopefully No more over aggressive ai! Changed some team names to more recognized alias.
v.2.5= Tweaked teams stats to more real life standings.
v.2.6= Fixed Checkpoint and pit exit bugs, at Belgium and Canada.

INSTRUCTIONS

-Put danon 2010 mod folder in mod folder.

-then most importantly=

-On a mac, right click nsgp file, then click show package. Go to contents/resource/data/.... and replace the
folders in the "media/skin" folder, with the ones from the "mod/extra" folder.

-On a pc, i think it installs 2 folders, find the same folder in program files, as above and overwrite with the same folders.

U MUST OVERWRITE THESE FOLDERS IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK ..!!

***PLEASE BACKUP YOUR NSGP FOLDER FIRST!!!***

Hey mate, just to let you know:

-You can put the background and interface folders in the media folder of your mod, there's no need to replace anything in Program Files/NSGP/Media with the exception of track tiles and objects. ;)

- You can use any of my tracks if you'd like to, just give me credits on the mod if you're interested. :)

i would love the 2010 tracks but not entirely sure how to go about it mate...

To be honest para, and thanks for the sentiment, im not sure how to do tracks and worried i might mess the mod up.
Thats why ive kept the 2009 tracks, ill ive done is replaced the object file, and its worked with 12 teams.

If you could clarify whats to be done please. What do i replace etc etc..??

ALSO PARA YOU SEEM TO KNOW YOUR WAY ROUND THIS GAME
ive noticed this problem.

ive set the fuel consumption in engine file to 0.0010 (changed to default for mod, dont worry) to make fuel go quicker.
i do 20lap races, and on australia, i can fill the tank and the car does roughly 10/11 laps (perfect for a 1 stop, without loads of access fuel?!)

i take the same whole setup to malaysia, and the 1st stint on a full tank will only go 7/8 laps. Which means i cant one stop.
Does lap length play a part to,in fuel consumption?

What can i change to make the car on a full tank do half the race on every circuit. without 5/6 laps spare!

There's a problem though, there's no refueling anymore so a car has to do a full race which theoretically renders fuel useless.

I realize this but for the sake of the mod, and troubles with turning fuel off (ai cars starting on different fuel loads, the other thread mentioned ai weight still takes in to consideration even vo fuel is off.). I have left the fuel wear on.

Anyway, I have a problem. All the teams appears in the beggining, but when I choosed McLaren (for example) in the game the "Hispania Team" disappears.

Ive just tested two tracks (aus/may) with a mclaren (season), and i had full 12 teams working. Even my screenshots above have all cars showing :)

For some reason, quick race wont work, i need to alter the trk (elsewhere i dunno) files, but im a little hesitant.

ow yes... I was looking them in the button of the teams. It has a limit of number of teams showed in this section.

PD: When siread could make the NSGP2? We want all the teams, the new points, etc.

Did you hear the grass when the car is driving in it?

I have this problem. Without the mod I heard the grass and the white lines, but with it no :(

has anyone got this mod to run normally?

I can only see those problems u guys are having being related to cpu performance. Im not sure how a mod, can effect performance really.

Yea the mod works great for me! The changes to the game are fantastic, especially the fact that the cars don't drift around corners anymore! I'm on a mac, and the only problem is registration, its taking FOREVER and i end up having to force quit new star, so i cant seem to get it registered, maybe it's just my computer or internet, but i wouldn't think so, I don't know.

pm siread with your serial key and email address, and he will send you a full version unlocked.
He decided to stop with the serial key versions for some reason.

Thanks very much.

Just one request, would you please upload a version that has the normal games level of collision damage. I love the way your version drives but I am awful at the game and am pretty much incapable of finishing races with the level of damage that you have in your mod.

You can simply do this on your own.
Go into the mod folder, then into the folder "Settings" and open the file Engine.ini.

You'll find these two lines:

damage_wall=5.0
damage_cars=0.6

You can change the values as you want them to be. :)

ver1.4 to download, which includes a slight tweak in the global handling characteristics. this now makes the car not so easy in slow corners to drive around fast. Some tracks you could literally go around without taking off the accelerator, this setting gives more of a realistic challenge, (especially in the newer teams lol)

If you dont fancy having to download the whole mod again, just go into your engine file (explained by ravezz above) and change:

handling_standard=1.8 (new setting!)

For new users please download whole package.

there was in the old 1.3 mod a huge bug...

25% of the cars crashed at all the same spots...

I have changed the handling standard, but im sort of convinced that it doesnt effect the ai, they still have good turning in speed !??!?!

Anyone??

EDIT:IVE INFACT HAVE TESTED THIS AND IT DIOES AFFECT THE AI!

If you change the cars' top speed, handling, acceleration and stuff, you'll probably have to re-do the tracks' racing lines. That happened to me once (http://www.newstargames.com/newstarforum/showthread.php?t=10481) in Super Laser Racer.

Whenever you change a global stat ALL cars in the track will be affected, sooo, be less drastic on your changes or modify the tracks

This is by far the best tweak ive done to this mod (1.4) the racing is superb now, you actually have to stick to driving lines apexes etc To get the most out of your car and the quickest lap. No more just turning the car in and it would cope!!
Even the Ai make small mistakes, ive followed button at malaysia, and he out braked himself going into a tight turn...(cant remember what one mind you)
The Ai for some reason just dont drive like on rails..

Sorry for the updates guys, but im finding as someone else noticed little track bugs.

thanks to willa, (lol i finally got it 1) :)
ver1.5a now fixes the constant pile up of cars in turn 17 at bahrain.

im currently going thru the tracks one by one, tweaking and fixing odd things.
One thing im hoping for is to make the hairpin (source) at spa more authentic (tighter)

keep ya posted. (lol whoevers using this mod haha!!!)

All those sites that make you wait suck :) I've never understood their use for purposes which sites like box.net can fulfill perfectly.
an on topic edit: this mod is insane! :) 1/3 of the races I don't finish and 2/3 I finish last :) I don't have the AI reflexes so sadly no matter how much I try to avoid them they keep crashing into me and just a couple of those light bumps leave me lapped on the extreme difficulty :)

sida im not sure if your happy or frustrated by my mod. But however i have increased the Ai level on hard quite considerably, (extreme didnt touch) if your having a tough time with the (realistic damage/ai speed) you can always turn down the their respective engine levels, someone mentioned in a previous post. But i agree if you use one of the bottom 3 teams its quite a challenge to get in the top 15!!

@Dan'on - no strong feelings, just commenting.
I like the mod and the difficulty as well, I crank up the difficulty way up when I play anyways.

I also like to, however, play mods as-they-are so I assume you can deal with the AI and I should work on my reflexes as, atm, they demolish me... the AI (so not mod-related) is such that I can easily avoid crashing into them but they just can't help crashing into me and destroying my car :)

I'll let you know if I can match that, but it is definitely more enjoyable this way than almost winning the championship first season with Force India, as I do on extreme without the mod :)

yet another danon bloody update !!! haha

right ive revised the source hairpin at spa. Ill leave this one down to you guys if this is a keeper or not. I think the revise works well, and gets the cars too slow down much much more rather more like the real thing! but ive had to add an extra kink for it too work..

Its not perfect but IMO its better!

Downloading now... I've had a few issues with not starting where I qualified, with AI exiting the pits and going straight off the track in some crazy loop... I've seen "pit corruption" with drivers lined up next to each other instead one after another... and in turkey my pit crew sent me out on the track in the opposite direction :D

turkey is anti-clockwise track, i think the pits are pointing in the wrong direction vo,. the random donuts the ai do i cant fix..

i havent had the not starting where i qualified bug vo.

Yeah, i've had that in Turkey with the newest teams but also everytime i drove down the start/finish straight it put me in the pits (I was in a Virgin Racing car) and i finished last!
any chance of a fix as it's a pain!

ive uploaded version 1.6a, with a fix to the turkey problem, i noticed the virgin cars wasnt starting on their pit slots but by the straight wall.. this may have soemthing to do with the error above.

there might be a few of these "a" versions coming out as people are finding something new everyday :(

ive just updated 1.6a again fixing the bahrain ai pit donuting shenanigans lol.

Ive still yet to have the not starting where i qualyied bug vo! im keeping an eye out for that.

yeah give MU at while or keep refreshing it even gives me that it will work eventually!

For you guys that have to keep downloading a new mod folder, just overwrite the track folder in your current mod folder. As at the moment im only updating tracks from version 1.5a!!!

I would have thought that too, but your mod definitely changes the wet performance. In the standard game (without mod) there is a definite difference in grip when raining, but when using your mod there is no difference in performance when wet or dry.

Your mod has also reintroduced rain at desert tracks :eh:

Yes there is, the 'climate' column in the tracks table, NSGP.db file in your mod. 1 is loads of rain, 2 is average, and 3 is desert climate.

This is a beta release and may possible have errors. Also i cant seem to get more than 17 tracks working so abu dhabi wont load. its a big file as i copied whole folders so installing would be easier!
i have slao fixed the raining at desert tracks as well bug. Wet grip has always been a problem even before my mod...so nothing i can do there.

also its missing korea, which i hope to work on if i have time.sorry

There's a file that needs to be edited... I think it's the Settings.ini , there you can change some season length variable.

yeah ive done that set to 19 races, 19 trk files, and 19 pngs and 19 db entries!??!

i cant for the life of me get it to see 19 races, ive even looked in the coded files.!!

i personally dont think it can be done.....?!

i have noticed some font errors (qualy page & news page) being a bit too big. so if any one has any ideas i can put in future update (which will come sry!) nows your time to get requests in!!!!

im sorry for the amount of updates, but im a perfectionist and im almost 100& happy with this mod :):dance:

this should be the last for a while!!!

only thing left is getting it to run 19 races, which no one can help obviously..........

May I just ask... about the overwritting of folders in your "most importantly" section of the how-to-install part in the introductory post - what does it do exactly? :) Because I've skipped that part the first time I installed, then saw it and done it, restarted the game and everything... but I did not see any difference compared to when I just put the mod in the mod folder? :)

These files that your overwriting with, are the track layout pngs/tiles and html for the style of the interface. At least without the track pngs and tiles the mod wont work. the panels folders is too make the mod "look" nicer, in terms of not having overflowing text and stuff. Its not entirely needed to run.

JUST BACK UP YOUR WHOLE NSGP EXE BEFORE OVERWRITING ANYTHING!!!

track folder=new track layout images on track profile

tiles= objects/tiles etc, to run new tracks

panels=font/style changes on interface.

the game actually does suppport all 19 races!!!!!!!

it just doesnt show them all in the track calander!!!! When you actually come to week 18 it will run normally!!!

----- Also guys i know the online tourney guys i gonna go mad, but i must make one fix, the spa hairpin is broken the ai dont take it right.

Im so sorry to the guys using my mod online and are waiting for me to settle with it. But thats whats happens when you start creating new stuff, u notice bugs along the way. this one was crashing all the ai at the first corner (no one wants that) hey windows aint bug free on release hehe

Anyway the mod will run 19 races it just wont show the tracks in the calender, also it will show your driver profile (hrt/virgin) once you click on team profiles, then disappear when you choose next team. Just come out and go back in. Like wise to the tracks to, as long as you racing/at at the 2 last tracks..

This will be hopefully my last update for a long while, i hear a huge sigh of relief.

You too Brad? I'm finding hard too easy, like I said before in my 2nd season with HRT on extreme, when stats rose from 1-1-1 to 2-2-2 I ended up 5th with 68pts :blimey:

oh ... do you run light fuel loads at all the races?? Try an mix it up,

also in qualy do you use the same amount as fuel as the ai (keep it fair)?

i find it challenging, and i dont smash and pass my way thru.

and i upped the hard level to >comspeed_hard=5575 from >comspeed_hard=5000

Whoops, bit of a typo on my part.

I meant to say that 9/10 I CANNOT win on Hard (with Virgin Racing anyway).

Ive started playing on extreme again, and came 9th on my first race with Virgin Racing which isnt too bad, seeing as I am using Dan'on's 1.6 mod which means a slight touch and your DEAD! lol, I prefer it to normal though, makes you drive much more cautiously and make it harder to pass without flaffin up.

i might release another update to lower the damage, and bits, but you guys will get the ump :)

im currently testing variables now.

with my settings now it gives you one good hit with another car one more, then you will have to pit (just like real life i suppose)

i'll think ill leave it.....

i think its more of the case of the AI not being that aware to you around them, Thats what i find, they will just turn into you..

I'm having trouble installing the updates. I follow the instructions but when I try opening up the game it crashes :(
I'm running on mac 10.4 but I'm sure it's just me doing something wrong XD Any extra details you could give me on where files should go?

that sound like, if its crashing that you havent put the objects in the NSGP (show package) folder. These folders are the tiles, panels and tracks folders in the extras folder.
On a mac right click the nsgp exe, do show package then find the folders (data i think) which are like in the extra folder of my mod. then simply overwrite these. With the ones from my mod. It wont damage the game, ive just tweaked some files. rather than give you the files individually i just supplied the whole folder(s).

I once crashed into a wall in the last lap on japan, i had some advantage but was smoking badly, won by 0.01(or 0.1) seconds, i thought about turning around and pit, wonder what would happen if i did...

im tempted to change the collision settings the AI are getting on my nerves, how many times ive been swerved into, its almost laptop chucking!!!!!!

Im looking at a few varibales, i think damage is okay, it takes 2 good knocks to badly affect you. Its the ai collisions settings that need changing, im coming up with some now..

SO YES THERE MIGHT BE 2.4 LOLLLLL!!!!!!!!!

v.2.4= Tweaked Ai Collision attributes, they should allow a bit more room. Hopefully No more over aggressive ai! Changed some team names to more recognised alias.

sorry peeps i know a lot of pp have commented on the ai collisions and damage, and ill be honest they did annoy me after a while. so here it is, hopefully my final update!!!

Thanks Dan'on. You've said it all in your post really... the damage settings were perfectly fine, as crashing into an oponnent twice and still running around happily would be more in the spirit of destruction derby, not an actual racing game. What many players probably missed is purely the amount of skill that was needed to avoid AI knocks happening to you :)

josh i think to get the tracks in the quick race just copy the mod track folder in extras, to the track folder in the main directory!! when you go to quick race you will probably see 2 sets of tracks.

Guys ive been testing this (ai) they are so much more carefull now. I started from the back and before i used to get used as a braking barrier.:wall::doh:

Now i can get thru unscathed, with a little carefull driving aswell. But overall drastic improvement!!!

Anyone using this mod SHOULD get the 2.4 version, in my opinion.!!!!:dance:

Right im not sure how to break this to you, but as theres only six downloads, ill do thisnow, and this will be my final one.

Ive been playing some of the back teams and noticed some unrealistic values for the stats, Ive tweaked these now more realistic given real life standings!!! I thought i got this spot on but playing them ive noticed deficiencies.

Im in talks with si at the moment (please dont quote me) for possible future updates to NSGP. I think he has abandoned number 2. So i mentioned how about just updating the current version, then everyones going to be happy. 2010 points is something i would love to have, and i will mention to si if this could be implemented.I woud like to see the finished cars in a race taken off the track for lapping cars, as the profile pages showing all the tracks and teams that have been modded. Im sure he will take into account the online problems too.

But as he is working on the football game, im not sure when he can get on it.

Firstly, brilliant mod and all the updates, far from being an inconvinience are fine because they improve the game.

One problem I have is I have no car sounds for my car during qualifying only, I have been both Lotus and Virgin and get the same problem, alls fine in practice and the race but no player car sounds in qually, AI sounds are fine, anyone else had this?

PS tried first 5 races of the year, doesn't seem to be track specific

Dan, did you find out why wet weather has no affect on tyre performance in your mod? This bug makes the mod unusable for me because the player can just stay out when all the computer cars are diving into the pits for wets.

I'm with Dan on both cases :)

The sound issue is a game problem unrelated to the mods, I suppose it can happen for a mod to further accentuate an issue but that is out of modder's hands.

Wet weather also never has an effect on performance. Depending on the style of track you may notice a slight increase in your sliding ability, but one that will not negatively influence your lap times.

I've got an odd little fault for ya Danon.

I have played your mod for two seasons so far and both times i had a strange problem in Brazil. After Qualifying it listed everyone as DNQ and after the race it listed everyone as DNF. It has done this on both seasons.

Other than that fantastic Mod!

Hi All,

Can someone please give me a step-by-step guide on how to install the mod on MAC?

I've placed the mod folder in the Documents/New Star GP folder

things seem to be working but I can't see the new tracks!

and when I check the "New Game" section I get the name of the tracks correct but the but the small track image is incorrect.

another problem is, when I reached Canada, the game froze!


I've tried playing with the game's folder with no avail, the game boots out as soon as I open it if I replace the Media folders with "Extras" and "Media" folders from the MOD..


help please?

-U need to right click on new star gp exe, and show package contents.

Haven't played NSGP for months, but I still enjoy playing this game. Looking forward to NSGP 2, which hopefully will be released before the last GP in season 2010 :)

Edit: Unfortunately, I found two bugs: Belgium & Brazil tracks aren't working (Belgium results are mixed up with the results of the Italian GP. NSGP records no time in the Brazilian GP). In my opinion, Ferrari, Lotus, Virgin are too strong and the order of the teams are mixed up.

The Korean track is awesome!!

Floweb: Glad u like korea cheers! Regarding the teams performance, i calculated these after the first few races, ferrari were doing well then :(. The other two teams do puzzle me, as they seem to outperform their own stats!?!?
Which sometimes makes me think does the driver (maybe age experience) affect the team performance?? This has puzzled me and i have tweaked the lower teams once already, their stats cant really be any lower than they already are. As for the tracks well thats something i need to look in, and any help would be grateful, as im tied up in work n home at mo.

plox: thanks for comments, and i think you need to install the extra folder (found in mod download) Check post 137 above for details, on how to do this.

belgian Gp doesn't count the laps and even if I'm first on qualifying I was last on the race, I even waited for the P2 to pass me then passed him again but Im still the last car. The lap counter worked but was late, It's supposed to be the 3rd lap but on the lap counter it was the 2nd lap

Lovin ya mod, but yea i've had a few minor issues with lap counting, finishing first but placing last and track layouts different to what is actually being raced (eg. it says im racing canada but end up racing Monza)etc but it only seems to happen in the 2nd season and there after?

Those laps errors worry me, and if they only happen in the second season, then that worries me even more as i wouldnt know where to look to adjust that:rolleyes::(

i think i am making a mistake but i don't know it.

first i copied the mod folder to /mydocuments/nsgp/mods

then i copied the folders in extras to program files/nsgp

i changed the old folders and files..

nothing happened.. still cant see mod when i start the game..

i read the instuctions..

Yes, and it's included in this mod.

To install his mod you must move two folders:

The "Dan'on Hill 2010 Mod" folder, (which has three folders in it: Database, Media and Settings) to your Mods folder in My Documents/New Star Grand Prix. You can't miss it. ;)

The other one is the Media folder, (that has the Backgrounds, Tiles, etc. folders) move it to your Program Files/New Star GP folder.

I'm not sure how he organised his files, but there must be these contents:

Program Files > New Star GP > Media > Backgrounds and several other folders...

My Documents > New Star Grand Prix > Mods > Dan'on Hill F1 2010 Mod > Database, Media and Settings.

If you want the new tracks in quick race, then make copies of the track files, go to the 'new star grand prix' folder and put them in the tracks folder in there :)
Make sure it's the .trk files and not the .png ones

Beem having some good fun with this mod over the last few days, glad to hear the lap checkpoints have been fixed although this did create an interesting battle in the drivers championship when I lost a race win :lol: got a cool pic of a dead heat to post tomorrow.

Dan'on,

Did you fix the Brazil GP fault (Just reads DNQ at the end of the race and doesn't record lap time, drivers and constructors pts etc)?
Also noted that Abu Dhabi Doesn't record fastest laps either.
Other than that fantastic Mod! :)

King Rob: I had an awesome one yesterday in Singapore GP (3 Lap Race). Started 8th in a Lotus . Ended up 15th by the end of lap 1 (on Extreme), fought my back to 3rd by the end of the second lap. Passed Jenson Button at the beginning of the lap and chased down Lewis Hamilton and ended up coming over the line almost together. The computer gave it to me but i honestly think Lewis did beat me but what can ya do!

hhhmmm

im slightly confused here, i havent touched the original tracks, theres no reason for the checkpoints to be wrong?!

Does it happen in the first season, or remaining seasons only?

I could understand spa as i had tweaked the whole back end of that track and messed up checkpoints but, if the above tracks worked in the original game my mod shouldnt of changed anything.

Have you guys tried restarting the race or even season?

The Fault happens in every season consistently and i have tried starting a new season and it still does it.

sorry i can't be of any more help dan'on but i think that's about as much as i can tell you

Now my game gives me an "Windows error" EXCEPTION_ACCES_VIOLATION.

I have Windows Vista, AMD Phenom X4 CPU, Nvidia 250 GTS and 4Gt of RAM, so it shouldn't be because of my computer I guess.

EDIT: Sorry, I may have found an answer from forums by using Google. (Integrated search didn't find anything)
EDITEDIT: Okay I tried to change my save location, but no. Still crashes to same error. Now I'm quite sure that this has nothing to do with your mod, so I'm sorry from bothering you with this.

I havent altered that track so something somewhere is wrong...

Lot's of difficulties to finish even the first lap :/
AI just bashes me into my death.

Last season made like 3 complete first laps.

In the Engine file in my mod, edit the damage value to suit your liking, go down in increments of 2.

First, let me say that this mod is absolutely incredible! I don't even play anymore unless I have it turned on! nice work!:clap:

I don't know whether the game crashes still at Canada, but I'm downloading the latest version to try.
So does anyone know if you can delete old mods? or just remove them? because if it works better now then I'll just remove the other versions.
