Alright people, lets do what JJU did and get editors to update the DB for NSS2010,we should have 1 person to do maybe 1 country each.
Even only the top two divisions of each big nation,if you want to do this let me know.

Only the top division is really needed, but I really would like to get the likes of Italy,Spain,France...etc,you know big countries that will be mostly played in.

No one is moaning. The database is not up to date, fact!
I am willing to help tho'. I can do France, Romania or Scotland. One of these three, or maximum 2 of them.

I can do Argentina. But how are we going to manage the transferred players across nations?

We should probably do a list of players who moved country, but lets wait and see how many we can get first.:)

As I said, please contact Si about your databases and send them to him. It's a lot better that way and it's a way of not violating any rules ;)

Actually, I think in future updates I may scrap the real player names and go with a totally fictional player database. That would solve all the problems.

To be honest I don't really think that is a good idea Si. Part of the fun is to have 'real' players in the game, and changing a letter is good enough to get around all this rights thing. Fudging or unfudging doesn't really take a long time.

The only problem I am referring to is keeping the db up to date without a dedicated database manager. It's virtually impossible to collate data from random people's updates due to the fact that players move between clubs in different countries and there is no simple way to merge the data.
If people want to create unofficial real databases then fine, but I would only ever have to worry about the fictional one. (The clubs and competitions would still be real of course.)

Well, if you put it that way, you have a point. Perhaps you could have an agreement with somebody at Transfermarkt or something? Perhaps gather less leagues (only the main Euro leagues and some from other confederations)?

To be honest I wouldnt play a game with fake players,I know its a lot of work to do the db but Im sure all of us could keep it up to date somehow.
EDIT:Today i am starting on the french top two divisions and maybe more, depends on how long it takes,Si in reference to duplicate players if a person is updating a country,e.g me doing France and a player from say Brazil moves to France, the person doing Brazil should delete the player,it makes it easier as I am responsible for this league and not them,I should be responsible fors players in but not players out do you get my point?

Yes, that makes sense. I will have a long think about the db and it's future over the next 24 hours. I will post my verdict tomorrow with instructions for wannabe updaters.

While you have a long think, if the verdict is the one you proposed yesterday, perhaps add some sort of button to the editor that grabs the Names files and generates players automatically?
Alright, I'm gonna be unbiased now and stop trying to influence anyone, enjoy your reflections :D
Si, have you looked much more into the possibility of hosting an online database of some sort? I know what a pain it was for me to merge work into the master. Obviously your decision will affect whether I come back to manage England as agreed :)

Hi mate! I'm considering an online db but to be honest I want to strip out a load of fields that just add complexity to the game without improving it (stuff like fanloyalty, financial status or dates which take up 3 fields when it could be 1). I want to hold off on doing this though until v5.
In the mean time I could create a new merger program that will compare the original database with one that an editor has updated and only import the teams and players that have been adjusted. I'm just not sure how safe that will be...
